When did you start wedding planning?

How soon after the proposal did you start wedding planning? Did you dive right in once you got the bling? Did you wait a little while to just enjoy being engaged? Did you already have some ideas in your head (or on Pinterest)? When did you start wedding planning? Photo by The DV Image in New York,...

I started pretty much right after he proposed. He proposed in December and we are getting married in September

Engaged in June. Booked venue in July. Started getting quotes in August. Bought the first items in December. Still don't have a cake vendor or hair/makeup. May wedding.. it'll get done. I'm not too worried about it.

We started about 2 months after the engagement. We wanted to enjoy the engagement (plus my mom and I were taking a girls trip to Europe like 2 weeks after we got engaged so we couldn't really do anything until I got back lol).

I started right away, we'd been together 7.5 years at that point so I was ready!

We got engaged two days before we came home from Spain, and when we landed the familes started with the questions. We booked the venue in about 10 days

That's awesome!! Did you book the first one you saw or did you look at a few options?

I did a lot of research online, then taking into consideration guest count and budget, we toured and fell in love with the first one we saw. We are also getting married in October which limited options as many were booked already

FH proposed the week I was home between my friends wedding in Costa Rica and a cruise with his family to the Caribbean. I needed a break after all of my MOH duties for Costa Rica and the local reception plus the packing and planning for the cruise. That was mid March 2018, we waited till mid-April and got most of our vendors booked by the end of May (Venue, Food, Bar, Photographer, DJ, Photobooth) then it was casual planning and Pintrest until we hit November 2018 (1 year out) since then, I've found my dress, my BM dresses, found the place we will be renting the guys tuxes, bought everything for our DYI centerpieces and started testing the best way to do it, bought Save the Dates and Invites. finalized guest lists (still waiting on the moms to give us theirs... they have until tomorrow), bought the accessories for our "ring security", put together a plan for the ceremony space, had our friend get ordained, started our registry and started putting together our bridal party gifts. I still feel like I have a million more things to do but I have laid out 2-3 things to complete each week so I know it'll all get done.

We had talked about it months before it happened but it was still surprising
    Got engaged 12/23/18
    Designed/ordered a planning binder & scheduled 4 bridal expos 12/24
    Bought my reception dress 1/10
Said yes to my ceremony dress 1/28
we viewed one venue and have 3 more to view before the middle of February.
Oh and engagement pictures on Sunday.

I am a bit overboard and I love it all. I want things done so I can relax.

I started planning my wedding about 13 months after he proposed. We wanted to enjoy our engagement. To be honest, I had no idea what I wanted for my wedding until very recent.

actually dislike all the attention I get when I introduce him as my fiancé. So even today, when I refer to him, I say his name or “my partner.” I’m looking forward to being a wife and leave the role as a “bride” behind.

We didn't start setting a date and planning until 8-9 months after getting engaged and didnt book a venue til last week, a year after getting engaged. We waited so long bc I was taking classes full time and we were in the process of buying a house. We decided to wait until we got settled in the house before we start planning.

We enjoyed being engaged for a few weeks then we immediately settled on our date. We both knew October was ideal because of our first date being that month and we love that time of year and Halloween, so it was a no brainer. We soon started looking at venues and it’s been non stop planning ever since!

I actually started before I was engaged because I knew the proposal was coming! I booked my church and officiant a month before the proposal because I knew the date we wanted. Then, once he proposed, I started all other planning in full force!

I have been pinning ideas on Pinterest for years but I have only been engaged for a little over a month and really still haven't started planning. I think a big part of it is, in the next year or two we might move out of state so we don't want to plan everything here if we move then have to cancel things.
