Why do people get so upset at people wanting a cash bar

where i am from it is concerned snobby and down right rude for a guest to expect a wedding to have a open bar.

i am trying very hard not to think poorly of those who are being well rude about those who seem to be demanding other girls to have one but the number of post on the issue is making it hard.

so people dont bite my head off.. i am having a certain beer and wine paid for by us (hard drinks in the middle of the day i find tacky anyways)

FYI I plan on having a stripper pole in the middle of the dance floor for my annihilated friends that I paid to get sloshed.

I think you're only a pathetic American if you drive a military assault vehicle, like a Hummer, to PTA meetings. But I could be wrong about that. Better ask Matt.

Dude, your FW started this thread to wrap her head around the issues with a cash bar. We all offered our opinions. She asked and we answered. You were downright rude.

From the get go, many of us anti-cash bar folks have said providing beer &wine(like your FW says you are doing) is minimally acceptable. We have also said it is even more obnoxious when a cash bar is offered & the bride is sporting couture & the centerpieces are over the top.

There is nothing wrong with a booze free wedding especially if the couple does not drink, or it is because of religion. As long as your guests know in advance all is okay.

However, in my opinion, if your guests drink, you are a poor host for not providing at least SOMETHING they can enjoy. Even Christ knew wine needed to be served at a wedding.

Hey at least we all apparently have money to drive expensive cars! Who needs a bar at a wedding? My fancy car has it's own!

@ Shannon S. OMFG does it poo out rainbows? Or cotton candy? I WANT

@ Heather - poor phrasing. But, the Llama does HAVE gas. And those fumes are probably worse for the environment than my other ULEV

We are only serving beer and wine, and of course water, soda, tea and coffee. There is a cash bar adjacent to our reception room if anyone wants something harder. But as far as a guests getting sloshed only at on an open bar whoever thinks that doesn't have any real drinkers on their guest list. The real drinkers will get sloshed no matter what.
