How much are you/did you pay for your wedding cake?

Chelsea, on December 10, 2012 at 1:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 32

I'm curious how much you are paying/paid for your wedding cake(s)? I just put a deposit down on our wedding cakes. We have a guest list of 250. We're going to have 5 different wedding cakes. The total amount for the 5 wedding cakes is $870 with delivery and stands. I think it sounds expensive, but the bakery is well known in our area and it has always been my favorite. The flavors and designs are amazing. Am I out of my mind for paying this much lol?

Ours is $200 for our wedding cake that will feed 60 people and a grooms cake for 20 people.

We are doing the grooms cake the night before as a surprise at the rehearsal dinner. Smiley smile

I think you're not out of your mind if it's what you want and you have the money to spend on it.

I myself would never pay more than $300 for cake, but I also have to say that I'm HUGE on cakes done right and with all edible decor. If I could afford it, I'd probably go all out. I love the art of sugar work.

We got quoted at $3 per cupcake. So that would be around $300 for 100 people. That doesn’t include the cutting cake, so that would be extra.

For 60 people, we paid $5.00 per slice for a total of $300. It was a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The cake was from a bakery in Vermont that has since been voted Best Sweet Stop in New England by Yankee Magazine.

You are paying less than $5.00 a slice, so I think that is a good thing. : )

It all depends on the style, the degree of difficulty and the reputation of the bakery. In my area (ny/nj) cakes range from 5-15.00 per slice.

If you look at it in terms of price per slice, it seems about average. I always think it's worth it to spend money on having good food because guests will remember that!

Ours came to just under 1000. Three tier, three flavors with fondant for around 125 people.

Our cake cost around $400 for a three tier cake, three different flavors and for 100 guest. It also includes cake cutting fee, cake stand, champagne, champagne glasses and bucket for me and my FH, nuts, and mints.

We're looking at roughly $400-500 for the cake and groom's cake. Haven't finalized the details, yet.

We are doing cupcakes - price will be about $150 for 175 cupcakes - BUT the wedding is in rural Missouri - so that may not be the best gauge for the rest of the country.

We paid $610 for a 4 tier cake that could feed 175 people so I don't think yours is too outrageous for 250 people.
