How late is your reception going until...after party anyone?

* Gin, on January 4, 2012 at 9:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 27

So here in Germany most receptions are what my DH calls "Open-End" meaning the party goes on until the wee morning hours (4, 5, or 6am) this is the norm here. But we are having our wedding in the States and the venues we are looking into typically go until 10 or 11pm....even having an after party at a local bar, last call is at 130am in FL. We really want to dance all night long. Is anyone else having this issue and what time is your reception and after party going until if you are having one? Any suggestions?

    Our reception venue says we have to start clean up at 11pm so we were thinking about having an after party if we purchase a house before the wedding. We decided against this because its going to be a long day already ... have to be up & leaving before 8:30am so we want to have time to ourselves at the end of the day.

    I'm not having a typical 'wedding reception' ~ we're having a nice dinner following our ceremony. You better believe FH & I are bar hopping afterwards. We plan to stay out till the sun comes up :o)

    Yes we've considered throwing an after after party at a beach house if we choose to rent one rather than stay in a hotel. We are having a Friday wedding so we can enjoy the weekend with family and friends.

    Our reception was over at 10, followed by an after-party in the hotel bar until 12, followed by an after-after-party in my sister's room until 3 am. We party hardcore!

    My sister (also my MOH) picked up a few things at the store the day of and threw a simple party - by then the crowd had thinned out to about 15 people and it was the perfect way to wrap up the night.

    Our reception package is 7 hours and ends at 1:00am! The end time wasn't anything we thought we cared too much about, because every venue we visited had simillar ends of around 11:00 or 12:00. We're really excited now about the extra time and feel lucky to have it! We'll also have the hotel bar for after that, but bars close in Michigan at 2:00am, so that will be the time we'll wrap it up by!

    We had to be packed up and out by midnight. I really wanted to go to the bar after but my DH saw that I was drunk and had the BM drive us back to the hotel instead so we could get some lovin' in!

    Have you checked into having your wedding at a Bed and Breakfast?

    Our B&B allowed us to start at 4:30 with our ceremony and the have the party went on all night. All of our 60 guests stayed at the same inn, so htere were no other guests to disturb. Since we were hosting the event, we were allowed to supply our own alcohol. The DJ was a friend. I think the last dance was at around 2:00 a.m.

    Good luck with your search.

    My wedding is at 1 and I am kicking people out at 5 PM. We dont have dancing (none of my family or FH family are dancers) so we are going have a quick ceremony eat and do toast, cake, garder toss bouquet toss have another hour to mingle and then kick everyone out open gifts pack the car and depending on money and other stuff either head home or go to a nice hotel in seattle for the night.

    Ours is scheduled to end at 10:30 pm, followed by an after party at the Hotel's bar and then more than likely we'll have an after, after party in someone's room (Like Shannon's) when the bar closes at 2:00 am.
