Lovely ladies at Saks but please brides, be oh so careful when you sign that dotted line!
My experience: I agreed to a soft-white version of the dress (aka 'diamond white') and they ordered the exact shade of the dress I tried on instead. They kept pushing me for the darker shade of white and must have had that in their heads when they put in the final order to the designer. Imagine my absolute horror to find a yellow-white dress in the box instead of a white one when my gown arrived a mere three months before the wedding! As luck would have it, I lost the receipt during a recent move and I have nothing to back up my claims of the specific color I actually ordered and they insist the fault was on me.
Recommendation to you new bride-to-be's:
1. Take a photo of the receipt and email it to yourself.
2. If you're ordering a different shade of the dress than the physical sample you tried on, get them to either send you a fabric sample from the designer of that shade for you to keep and compare or have them get in a dress of that exact shade so that everyone (you and your assistant at Saks) are clear on what shade of "white" you both have in mind!
I purchased my Monique Lhuillier wedding gown with Saks Bridal in 2014 and couldn't be happier. Based on earlier reviews, I requested Jill as my consultant and I was so happy I did. Jill was not only entirely helpful during the selection process, but she stayed available and was so easy to communicate with throughout the fittings process, and even long after the wedding (I had a question about my billing). I appreciated her expertise and help, especially during the fittings process, as I've heard of many sales consultants who go MIA after making the sale - but Jill was thoroughly wonderful throughout.
One big plus to consider is that Saks has stores throughout the country - so I was lucky in this regard as my wedding was in LA, and I was able to ship my dress from New York to Beverly Hills and the bridal salon in LA was able to iron, press and have my dress be completely ready before the wedding day. Shipping costs through Saks are also VERY reasonable (they can go to the hundreds typically if you ship a wedding dress-sized box on your own, or even through other bridal salons, as I had learnt).
I had been to numerous bridal stores in New York and am so happy I made my purchase at Saks.
I bought my dress online from Saks Fifth Avenue with free shipping and saved a bundle! After searching many bridal stores in NYC I decided to try something different and I am so glad I did. I ordered a beautiful dress by Theia in my normal size with minimal alterations. My dress was beautiful and I spent less than $1000! I tried the dress on with my mom and sister at home and they loved it right away. I would highly recommend other brides try this instead of going to an expensive bridal salon.
Saks was a great place to get my wedding dress. The only thing that bothered me was that I was buying a Monique Lhullier dress, and they would not let me get the size dress that the Monique store measured me in, they remeasured me and said they would only order the next size up. When the dress came, I was swimming in it. However, we did get a good deal at the Saks store. They offer a discount for opening up a Saks charge card (10%, which is significant when buying a designer dress), and sometimes run extra specials. We got a giftcard for 500 dollars for ordering from them. Overall, I adored my dress and Saks was good to work with.
We worked with Melina Pope who was amazing. We knew which gown we wanted, but she helped us negotiate the best possible price we could get and even threw in 2 gift cards worth $450 each toward alterations or anything else we need to purchase (like a veil or shoes).
Marina the dressmaker was exceptional. She tailored the dress til it fit like a glove and every detail was perfect.
I bought my wedding dress at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC's sample sale, and it was the best deal ever. I went to other sample sales (including Kleinfeld), and Saks was in a whole different category. The dresses were beautiful, as opposed to weird, they were mostly in pretty good condition, and the atmosphere was calm and pleasant, as opposed to a madhouse. The salespeople were very helpful, and they even suggested shoes to go with my dress. And at the end of the day, I got the most gorgeous Angel Sanchez gown, which is the most beautiful material thing I've ever owned, for $1700, instead of the original $6500. It doesn't get better than that.
I visited 7 dress shops in my quest to find my wedding gown and came to Saks on the high recommendation of a friend. I truly think your experience here depends on the attendant you get because while mine was super sweet, there were more than a few miscommunications that led to unnecessarily stressful situations that my friend did not encounter. For instance, when I made my appointment to purchase my dress, my attendant asked if there were any other items I wanted her to pull. I told her about a pair of shoes exclusive to Saks that I wanted to purchase and she assured me she would have them in my size on the day of my fitting. When I showed up, she not only had forgotten to do this, but acted as if we never had this conversation. She then sent me to the shoe salon upstairs to purchase them, but they had sold out of the shoes nationwide and I had to go on a wild goose chase to hunt down a similar pair. My wedding dress designer creates a personalized sketch of the dress you purchased, and Saks sends them on the label's behalf. They accidentally swapped my sketch with another bride's, so when I opened the sketch I had a panic attack since it was not of the dress I ordered and I was concerned they had gotten my order wrong. Thankfully, they didn't, but as a frazzled bride, you're going to be less likely to trust someone who can't write the proper address on an envelope. When it came to schedule my fittings at the designer's showroom offsite, there was tons of confusion as to whose responsibility that was, when my accessories were supposed to be present at which fittings and who would be delivering or picking them up. It also doesn't help that my attendant never told me about certain perks that come along with purchasing a dress at Saks (you get a $500 gift card if you spend a certain amount on predetermined days that can be applied to your accessories), and when I spoke to the manager about this, she was incredibly rude. All of that being said, I absolutely loved my dress, belt and gown and got tons of compliments. I just wish the process had been more seamless and enjoyable, since it is a once in a lifetime purchase and you would expect better customer service for the amount you're spending in this salon.
I bought my Vera Wang dress from Saks Bridal Salon in New York. Jill was great in helping me find a dress that was perfect (I was clueless when I walked in). Later when I had my alterations, Elena the seamstress was fantastic and very clued into what I wanted to do and helped me customize my dress to my body. I was very appreciative of the service and friendliness of the Bridal Salon and I felt comfortable every time I went in for a visit.
Found my wedding gown at a few different places (Kleinfeld's, Reem Acra, and Saks) but decided to buy it from Saks because I liked the atmostphere - small, personalized, upscale but not obnoxious. They also offer specials that help with the price - for example, when we were shopping if you opened a Saks card you got a $500 gift card to cover your alterations. We had a few mix-ups here and there with them - we were promised a free veil then told that that promise was never made (luckily they had written it down for us!), we were told we could take our dress home at a certain time but then it turned out it wouldn't be ready for hours later, but everything ultimately worked out just fine. They fixed the dress pick up situation by mailing it, my seamstress was extremely talented and took down my very detailed embroidered bodice by several sizes perfectly, and my consultant, while not super responsive over email, was very very nice. Recommend.
I was not willing to participate in the madness of sample sales or the overcrowded Kleinfeld's so I decided to go with my favorite shopping spot Sak's. Jill of Sak's was great with helping me find the dress of my dreams (Vera Wang!). I wasn't treated like I was the most important person in the store but thats okay! I found a great dress and thats really all it is about.
I worked with Jill to find my wedding dress and then Lucia to fit my wedding dress. Both women are incredible and amazing people. Jill was such a comfort throughout the entire process and very knowledgeable as well. Lucia was so skilled and attentive. I absolutely love my wedding dress, and I am very thankful to Saks for bringing it to me. I will say to all brides - only you know how the dress feels on you. My dress felt a little too loose on the very top, and they did try to talk me out of taking it in more for fear the dress would cut into me and give me unflattering back or underarm fat. I insisted they take it in anyway, and it was perfect. Listen to your instincts!
I can't say enough wonderful things about the Saks Bridal Salon in NYC. My contact was Melina and she was incredible - accommodating, helpful, understanding, kind...I honestly can't say enough about her. She really listened to what I was looking for in a dress and brought in options that fit my vision. When I found The Dress - I should mention, this is one that Melina picked out for me - she did everything she could to find us discounts. She called Vera Wang to inquire about a trunk show discount since it had been the weekend prior, she wasn't able to get that discount but was able to get them to give me a Vera Wang cathedral length veil for free - score! She also recommended that we open a Saks credit card for an extra 10% off and purchase the dress during a gift card event so we could get the $450 gift card which coincidentally is the cost of alterations so they ended up free! She was amazing, the experience at Saks was wonderful, the alterations were absolutely perfect - it was a dream experience. Highly recommended!!
I really enjoyed working with Jill to find my dress. It was the first place I went shopping and she found the perfect dress for me. The fittings with Lucia were amazing. My mom and I just adored her and she did a wonderful job of fitting my gown just right. I didn't love some of the women who worked up front. They tended to be a little pushy and there was a bit of a run-around with my veil. But in the end it all worked out. As a bride you always want to be treated like your the only bride on the face of the earth. You don't exactly get that treatment at Saks, but I did end up with a beautiful gown.
I had a little incident with my vail. Saks ordered it and I went to try it on the week before my wedding. Well, they ordered me something completely wrong. I was really upset, but this very nice women was able to have the designer make three more for me and one of them was the one of my dreams. just a little stressful to get there.
We eloped to the island of Kauai and didn't have much time to find a dress. I wanted something simple, vintage (or vintage-looking) and was having no luck at all. I tried Ebay, local vintage stores, to no avail. On a last, desperate attempt I finally clicked on the Saks site knowing everything would be out of my price range. The perfect, perfect 40's starlet dress was ON SALE for $200. Get out! I ordered on Wed at noon with overnight shipping for $25 and that dress was at my house on Thurs at noon. It fit perfectly. There were quite a few other fantastic dresses for sale online at really amazing prices. Give it a try, even if you are on a tight budget, the perfect dress may be well within your reach.
I actually went to the one in Costa Mesa but I found my dress there and absolutely love it!
Twice a year Saks has a wedding gown sample sale. I was nervous that it was going to be a mad house, and I am NOT the kind of shopper that can handle that. I went at an odd hour of the day and had a huge dressing room to myself, with four people helping me. I found the most amazing dress that was, like me, unique, but the best part was, it was affordable!
I purchased several of my wedding party's gifts from Saks and the quality exceeded my expectations. The only review that is not a 5 star outright is the value for cost, but it gets 4.5 stars because I pretty much knew what to expect when purchasing the gifts price-wise, and chose to due to their quality.
My Makeup was flawless
Friendly service although the girl I was working with left the bridal salon and they didn't tell me. My dress was great and I had an overall good experience.
