Christine started planning her wedding with her VCU sweetheart in 2011. Joy quickly turned to loss when he passed away from brain cancer. Through her pain, she pushed and realized that wedding planning could be a career for her. Her first wedding was with a lovely couple in September 2011 at Pippin Hill Farm + Vineyards, the same place she was supposed to marry her late fiance.
Christine continued to plan weddings under the name 'Wood Grain & Lace Events' as a side hustle until she decided to leave her full-time job in 2013. She hired Ciera a month later and they recruited a team of assistants to help them grow the company. The team is now 5 full-time planners and 8 assistant planners.
In 2014, Christine opened a bridal boutique with her mother called Urban Set Bride and maintains around 10 planning clients a year. She also owns her own small business consulting company, CHG Consulting, and loves helping aspiring entrepreneurs find their path to self-employment.
In 2018, the team decided they were ready to refresh and WGL transformed into the Hive Wedding Collective!
Christine lives in Church Hill with her husband, their 5 year old son, Ellis, and his baby brother, Jack. And they have an English Bulldog named Frank to keep the boys company.
She loves all things Beyonce, books, politics, keeping her houseplants alive, volunteering for her favorite non-profit Girls for a Change, enjoying a glass (or two) of wine with her girlfriends and relaxing with her family.

Ciera was the first person Christine trusted to join her side in the summer of 2014. As our lead planner, she is Christine’s partner in business and balances 20 clients a year along with a travel planning business.
As a Merchandising graduate of VCU she helped produce the very first fashion show to be hosted at the newest atrium of the VMFA. During her time in Richmond, she participated as a Board Member for RVA Fashion Week, holding roles such as Trunk Show Director and Model Manager.
Ciera lives in the city but enjoys a tropical vacations, themed dinner parties, and cooking up delicious recipes. Her travel company, Champagne and Cabanas, and would love to help you book your honeymoon, bachelorette party, etc!

Heather joined our team in 2015 and thrives on taking the scattered visions of a couple and curating beautiful, stylized yet seamless events.
With a background as a Craft Service Professional and Art Director in the film world, Heather strives to bring a creative and organized approach to event planning. Bringing her experience of executing large projects and focus, her goal is to see your vision shine!
Educated in Journalism, English, and Art History at Randolph Macon and VCU on a swimming scholarship, she fell into film work in 2011 and currently pairs that career with event design and coordination with the Hive.
Heather lives in the city with her husband and 8-year-old daughter. She loves good food, a strong cocktail, cake icing and top 40 hits from the ‘90’s!
