The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing was the perfect spot for our reception. We worked with Alli for most of the planning process, and she was just phenomenal. We bombarded her with questions, and she was always very knowledgeable, prompt, and kind. She’s so great at what she does, and knows her stuff! She made sure every little detail came to fruition and the reception looked and felt just as we wanted. To add to that, we had a different venue coordinator, day-of, and Alli made sure everything was properly communicated to her.

We had our ceremony at a different location, and it was such a fun transition from that spot to The Boathouse. Our wedding day was a bit rainy in the morning with slight overcast afterwards, but by the time we got to The Boathouse – the sun was shining, and it made for a perfect sunset. That said, the wrap-around balcony surrounding the reception allowed for great views from inside of the reception area & was the perfect touch for guests who were wanting a change in scenery during cocktail hour, and even the reception. Being it’s right on the water, our sunset photos were perfect.

For food, we had filet & pan-seared chicken. We did not hear the end of how tasty everything was from our guests, and all of the staff was so amazing – from setup, waiting on everyone throughout the night, and cleanup (especially since some of our guests broke glasses on the dance floor several times through the evening). Like they tell you, we didn’t eat much during dinner since we were so in the moment, but they packed up a goodie bag for us at the end of the night – including two filets & our sides, our appetizers, and a bottle of wine. It was just what we needed when we made it back to the hotel.

We can’t say enough about how seamless our wedding day & planning process was when working with The Boathouse. We’re so sad it’s over & that we don’t get to talk to Alli every single day anymore ☹ We’ll forever have a special place in our hearts for The Boathouse & the team there.

What an amazing evening!!! On 11/01/25 My son and daughter-in-law had a beautiful Micro-Wedding off-site at a nearby Historic Garden and Park followed by the perfect reception in The Harbourmaster Suite at The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing. The views from the Harbourmaster Suite were amazing and the atmosphere was quite cozy and comfortable. Alli Prato was their On-Site Event Coordinator, Jacob and Derek were the Staff Captains that took care of everything throughout the reception, and everyone did a fantastic job.

We met Alli when we first visited The Boathouse to take a peek at the event space and she also worked with us during the planning phase. She was phenomenal. She was very prompt and responsive along the way as me bombarded her with questions throughout the process. She covered everything right down to the last detail. She offered suggestions and ideas that made everything perfect for them. The food was delicious, and everyone raved about the crab cakes and the beef that they chose as menu selections. They thoroughly enjoyed both the food and drinks. Jacob and Derek were amazing – from setup, to waiting on everyone throughout the night, to the wrap up stages, at the end of the evening and they also kept us abreast as the evening progressed. Our wedding at The Boat House was absolutely fantastic and exceeded every expectation we had. The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere was perfect, and everything ran so smoothly. My husband and I chose the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing for our wedding and we are so glad we did.

All of the staff was amazing but we particularly want to highlight Alli, Laura, and Amy.

Alli, thank you for your patience as we planned our wedding. There were a lot of hiccups and back and forth and you handled it all like a champion.

Laura walked us through the rehearsal and then kept the actual wedding day running smoothly. She handled the decorations with ease (and there were a lot of them), and she also made sure to check in with us regularly on the day of. She handed us drinks right after we walked up the aisle, she came to get me when it was my turn to walk and told me to pause and enjoy it, she went through the buffet line for us and got our food, and she wrangled the boys who were there to help decorate the venue but were probably kind of in her way at some points.

Amy was a superstar! We had so many people mention Amy to us after the wedding. My mom in particular was in awe of her ability to be some personable while handling so many things at once. There was a point near the end of the night where I couldn't find my bouquet and I locked eyes with Amy and she stopped what she was doing to go get it for me. She was also so helpful with packing everything away and back into the large van we brought.

All in all, I don't have enough good things to say about Alli, Laura, Amy and the entire Boathouse team. You made the entire planning process so much easier than I expected and were all so kind. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

We loved our wedding day overall! Alli was our wedding event coordinator. She was so great and helpful! We threw the wedding together from out of state, over the short time of just 4 months. Alli was so key in getting this done! Our guests loved the food and the views. It was a perfect day. Thank you Alli (and Amy) for all your help!

The Boathouse was amazing from the initial meeting and tour. Once we signed on we were assigned to Alli as our wedding coordinator. Alli made the entire process easy and stress free! The venue is beautiful and the food and bar did not disappoint! The night went off exactly as we had envisioned! Thank you Boathouse and Alli!

We held our rehearsal dinner here and everything was absolutely perfect! The highlights of the evening were Eddie and the exceptional waitstaff (huge shout out to Courtney!), as well as the incredible food (pls put the ham biscuits and fried green tomatoes on the main menu, lol). The whole event went super smoothly, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to others who want to host an event.

Everything about our wedding reception at the Boathouse was exactly what we wanted. Bonnie in Sales and Alli, or event coordinator were wonderful. They helped guide us in choosing the best type reception style and entertainment to achieve the vibe we wanted. Alli was so helpful in both the planning and execution of the evening. The staff at our event was very friendly and expert at their jobs. Everything went smoothly and a planned. The good was fabulous and many of the guests commented on how good it was. The bar staff was skilled. One even captured a photo of us stealing a private moment in the midst of the crowd that is one of our favorite photos of the evening. We highly recommend the Boathouse at Rocketts Landing for your next event.

My wedding was enjoyable, beautiful, and created a lifetime of memories for us, our friends, and our family. The Boathouse at Rocketts Landing played a significant part in ensuring this once in a lifetime event was everything we hoped for. When you book a wedding with the Boathouse you will be assigned a planning professional and day of coordinator that has experience doing weddings at the Boathouse, and coordinating Boathouse staff. They will help plan, coordinate vendors, and corral guests and staff on the day of. This is extremely valuable as unlike a separate day of coordinator they have the authority and confidence to make everything happen from setting up tables with your decorations to making tiny hospitality touches like serving the bride and groom early and making regular check-ins. This is normally a service that costs thousands of dollars but comes with booking through the Boathouse and will make the couple’s evening excellent.
Our coordinator, Alli Prato was not like a stereotypical wedding planner in the best of ways. Her straightforward “I have seen and handled everything before” attitude gave the bride, and mother of the bride complete confidence that any mishaps would be handled by a competent professional. She listened to exactly what we wanted and executed that exactly. She never pushed for extra charges but just told us what things cost and what she advised to have our vision executed.
The food and service was the original reason we decided to book the Boathouse and did not disappoint. Having a full service restaurant upstairs means your food will be professionally prepared fresh and not through lukewarm catering treys. The Boathouse definitely uses their “A-Team” for weddings as all servers were experienced professionals that ensured all guests were taken care of.
The venue for the ceremony and reception give a majestic view of the river with the Richmond skyline in the background (either go there for happy-hour or check out their Instagram to see for yourself). Having the ceremony and reception 2 floors away from each other means you save yourself the hassle of coordinating transportation and it is easier on your elderly guests. Our wedding was 60 guests and the size felt perfect for that number. I think the Rockett’s Landing location maxes out at 150 and I could see that size being a little cramped.
If you want your wedding to be stress-free, elegant, and professionally run do not hesitate to book with the Boathouse. I can’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else and getting through it with our sanity. The price is definitely affordable for the value you get. Please have no wedding regrets and book with the confidence that your wedding will be incredible.
