Island View Catering is a locally owned company started by three UC Santa Barbara graduates. Our executive chef began operation in 2003, while still a student; then in early 2008, he partnered with two friends from UCSB, and together they formed what they now affectionately refer to as IVC. Since our humble inception, we’ve grown 50% every year based solely on word of mouth.
Recently our food began making larger waves: we recently won a prestigious best-in-class award at the Winter Wine Down in 2009, a charity event pitting the best chefs and winemakers from restaurants, caterers, and wineries throughout the Central Coast.
Our client base mirrors our rising success, ranging from throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura to Santa Ynez, Buelton, Santa Maria, and even as far as San Diego.
To keep up with our growth and facilitate even better service for our clients, our company invested in a customized, commercial grade mobile kitchen. Our investment allows us to provide you with an extremely important advantage over standard catering companies: we can literally prepare your food at your event location without the cumbersome need for local access to a kitchen. This benefit allows us to customize food to your exact specification the day of your event for any minor last minute changes to your menu; further, it allows us to prepare your food and serve it immediately, which guarantees your catered event will experience absolutely fresh cuisine within minutes of preparation – nothing previously prepared and kept warm or cold through transport!
Our unique culinary diversity and presentation – ranging from simple gourmet twists to old favorites, like macaroni and cheese, to cutting edge signatures, such as our signature passion fruit vinaigrette salad and boysenberry, chipotle glazed tri-tip – accentuate our equally unique business model. Our decision to keep our operating structure strictly controlled by the owners of IVC allows us to offer exceptional pricing and a personal touch that only a truly owner-operated company can offer. Our three owners are responsible for food preparation and quality control, personal event planning, and all administrative tasks, which eliminate the expensive accrued costs of middlemen: contracted chefs, client liaisons, sales and marketing consultants, etc. We pass these in-house cost reductions directly to our clients.

We are so thrilled that Island View Catering was such an integral part of our big day. They treated us like family and provided the most delicious food! Our guests have not stopped raving about how incredible the appetizer and dinner selections were. From the intial discussions about the menu, to the fabulous tasting dinner, to the magical day-of, IVC went above and beyond to bring our vision to life. All of the catering staff were such a pleasure to work with, and kept the day running smoothly. Geoff and the rest of the kitchen were so accommodating with guest allergies and preferences, and made sure no one left hungry. Avrey and the rest of the catering team were so gracious, working with us every step of the way to coordinate rentals, table settings, plating options, menu selections, and more. My wife and I really like food. So much so that selecting a caterer was probably the most important decision we made for our wedding. We were familiar with the stereotype that wedding food is always bad so we were determined to buck the trend. Finding a reasonably priced caterer who could provide seasonal, locally sourced food to a remote wedding venue in Los Olivos was a challenge. Our planner recommended IVC to us and it just so happened that Avrey and his wife were married at the same venue years earlier and had catered a wedding there previously. Their familiarity with the venue was certainly an advantage but it was their food that sold us.
Throughout the entire process, everyone at IVC was cordial, responsive, accommodating, and professional. I mentioned earlier that we are pretty discerning when it comes to food so of course in the months between the tasting and our wedding day we were in constant communication with Avrey finalizing the menu. His responses were always timely and detailed, which we greatly appreciated. In the end we felt like we crafted a family dinner together rather than merely selecting dishes from a menu.
On our wedding day, the passed appetizers during cocktail hour were better than we remembered and the cheese and charcuterie setup was a sight to behold. Dinner service was buffet style and all of our 100+ guests got food promptly and waits were almost nonexistent. All of the food was spectacular. Not just in taste but also in presentation. That’s something we especially appreciated because it felt so well integrated into the rest of the wedding and venue décor.
Needless to say my wife and I were ecstatic about the food and service provided by IVC. I think what made it even better was how often we’ve had our guests bring up the food long after the wedding is over. The bacon wrapped dates, heirloom beats, peach and mozzarella salad, and that incredible homemade chipotle boysenberry sauce (bottle this please) were all hits.Sent on 11/19/2017

We had a wedding party of about 100 people and wanted a family style service with passed appetizers before dinner and hosted bar with wine and beer. After discussing a menu we were invited to their beautiful Santa Ynez dining room for our tasting dinner. Each of the appetizers we tried where delicious and we had a difficult time narrowing them down and each of the three entrees presented were amazing and just what we had in mind. Geoff and Avery were very attentive to our feedback wanting to make sure we were totally happy with what we were tasting, which we were. The only question was could they deliver such good and yummy food in an outdoor venue for 100 people.
Not only did IVC deliver but they exceeded our expectations. All of our guests were raving about the food. One guest who is known to be particularly picky even went as far as to say it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. IVC were also up to our request to make beignets and banana foster for desert! Their service staff was wonderful as well and took care of all our requests. Their mobile kitchen rig was very impressive and was effective for them to execute a perfect experience.
We also had IVC cater our intimate rehearsal dinner the evening before and it was just as good as the wedding. Island View will be our first recommendation to others and choice for catering in the Santa Barbara area. Bravo Geoff, Avery, and Shannon!
I first worked with Island View Catering at Crossroads Estate, which can be a challenging venue. Their team worked so hard the entire night and the food was delicious! I highly recommend Island View for not only their service, but the wide variety of locally grown food focused menus. Their pricing is very reasonable and definitely worth scheduling a time to meet with them.
