As the mother of the bride, I can honestly say that Historic Whitewood made my daughter’s wedding day absolutely unforgettable. The moment we arrived, we were surrounded by such beauty — the elegant white tent, the soft Virginia breeze, and the stunning natural scenery all came together to create the most romantic setting imaginable. It felt like we had stepped into a storybook.

What truly set this venue apart, though, was the care and love that Chad, the owner, poured into every single detail. From our first visit to the very last moment of the evening, his warmth, professionalism, and passion for creating magical experiences were evident. Nothing was overlooked — everything flowed seamlessly and beautifully.

Our family can not say enough good things about this venue and our experience here. Perfection! The grounds are stunning and they have thought of everything to make a wedding as special as it should be. The grounds, the bridal suite, the salon, the choices and flexibility are all 5 star. Chad (the owner) was available every step of the way. He appeared at all the right times to offer any assistance needed and answer questions. The entire family pours their heart and soul into making sure there isn't one detail missed throughout the planning, rehearsal, and wedding day! They were available not only to the bride and groom, but also the wedding party, family members and each every guest. Do not hesitate to book your own wedding here!

From someone that initially wanted a backyard wedding, I'm converted. I could not have imagined my wedding anywhere but Historic Whitewood...

Chad and Sarah with Historic Whitewood truly go above and beyond. From the minute we stepped on the grounds for a tour, we immediately felt welcomed and knew that it was THE place for us to have our wedding. For one, this property is amazing REGARDLESS of the season. It always looks beautiful even in the dead of winter! From getting married on the front lawn, the pool for cocktail hour, to the massive backyard tent, it always looks amazing!

Historic Whitewood is unlike many other wedding venues. Whitewood provides tables, chairs (for both ceremony and reception), bars, different dance floors, etc all in-house! They also have additional items like soft seating, decorative tables, etc if you are looking for a little something extra. Speaking of a little something extra - have you seen the red truck? SO CUTE and made for AMAZING photos!!!! Additionally on the property, they have a bridal suite (with 3 bedrooms and a kitchen) that we got ready in and stayed the night in at our wedding. It was so convenient! My husband also loved the Grooms Den where he watched football and was able to chill before the wedding! There is also an extra house you can rent on property if any of your guests would like to stay close! And don't get me started on the dedicated catering area... Your vendors will LOVE you for booking a venue like this one!!!

As for the Taylor family, they are truly the best hosts. From being there for my never-ending questions and making sure that even a grass hiccup didn't impact my wedding vision, I couldn't have asked for more. I truly felt like my husband and I were the guests of honor at their lovely home. You can tell that they actually enjoy what they do, and unlike some other wedding venues where they push sometimes multiple couples through every weekend and you are just another event, I felt like the world revolved around me for our wedding weekend! I always felt welcomed and felt like my opinion mattered. It felt like they would move mountains to give me the wedding day I wanted. I am so blessed to have gotten married here and will always have a special place in my heart for the Taylor family and this venue!

Historic Whitewood was simply amazing for our daughter's wedding! Chad and Sarah have covered every detail and the value in what they provide is unparalleled these days. Cool history behind this venue and a perfect place for rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception. I cannot speak highly enough with how wonderful they are to work with. I would give it 6 stars if I could and so worth checking out! Throw in that you can do your own catering and bar and the value gets even better.

Sarah and Chad were just the people I needed to make my wedding weekend everything I needed and more. They care so much and went above and beyond to handle every little thing. I wanted to walk through a door before I went down the isle and it wasn't standing correctly during the rehearsal, Chad built an entire new door that night so that it was ready for my wedding day.
the venue is beautiful and made for the perfect fall wedding. All of my guests were raving about how peaceful and gorgeous the land is. The reception tent was perfect and my decorator was able to make it everything I wanted and more. I highly recommend Historic Whitewood.

This was the most special place to get married! Chad and Sarah are so kind and accommodating. They made sure everything was perfect for our special day. They went above and beyond for us and our families. We are so grateful to have worked with them. They made everything so easy for us. We feel honored to have gotten married at Historic Whitewood! We had a great time at the historic whitewood! We booked the location for a farewell party for an office manager who meant a lot to us. The Taylors, the owners, were so gracious. Every detail was carefully thought out. We had some unseasonably cooler temps with some rain but out came the tent and the space heaters and an indoor component. . We barely noticed the weather. The grounds are beautiful and you feel a world away from Richmond. If I wasnt already happily married, I would consider the Historic Whitewood for my wedding venue. The beauty of Powhatan is evident everywhere and despite the historical ambiance of the venue, no modern convenience was spared. Just an epic party and a fantastic place with considerate and thoughtful owners and managers.

My husband and I recently got married at Historic Whitewood and it was nothing short of amazing. As soon as we turned in the driveway we were met with a beautiful entrance full of landscaping and a beautiful “Historic Whitewood” sign allowing us to find the venue with ease. I absolutely love the fine details that this venue had to offer us. It is private yet extremely spacious. The bridal suite (also where my husband and I stayed the night of our wedding) is a 3 bedroom house that is decorated beautifully. It has a complete salon right off of the kitchen which made getting ready a breeze. The natural lighting in the bridal suite is incredible too if I might add. The grooms den is completely separate from the bridal suite which was a must for our party. The Grooms den is masculine, clean, and very elegant. One of my favorite features that was offered to us in the package we chose was the Whitewood INN, it is a 5 bedroom house located at the front of the venue. The INN has a great floor plan and each bedroom had either a Queen or King bed we were able to offer to our guests of choice for the weekend. Lastly, The owners of Historic Whitewood were phenomenal to work with. Sarah was so friendly through the booking process. She never made me feel rushed and was quick to respond when I would reach out with questions. She answered all of my questions with care and honesty. It was evident very early on that she had experience in event planning and customer service. Chad went out of his way more than once to check in with both sides of our wedding party to ensure we had everything we needed and more while we were preparing for the ceremony/reception. Both Chad and Sarah were so accommodating in many ways and I highly recommend this venue to anyone who is considering an elegant wedding at an affordable price point!
