I absolutely cannot recommend the Golden Horseshoe Inn enough for a small wedding. We had about 50 guests and Heather and her team made the planning process and the big day 100% stress free. Heather always replies to emails within 24 hours (which was particularly helpful when we were panicking about rain in the two days leading up the wedding) and she is very easy to reach by phone. You can tell that she has done this hundreds of times and has everything down to a precise science.
Honestly, she should charge at least double what she does for the services included. We never had to worry about flowers, the cake, hors d'oeuvres, set up, take down, flatware, stemware, dishes, linens, tables, chairs, aisle runners, etc etc. She also has a magical room full of many pieces of decor from cake stand options to seasonal accents.
Her father, Alan, was our officiant and he was flawless for our ceremony. We were able to craft a ceremony that felt very "us" from their selections of ceremonies that they provided and when we wanted to add in other elements, they were more than accommodating (we made a decision that my uncle would sing in the wedding about 2 weeks before the big day, and that was no problem).
If you're considering a small wedding in the Charlottesville/Ruckersville/Harrisonburg area and this place isn't on your list of places to see, you're making a tremendous mistake. So many of our guests asked us how we found the place (thanks WeddingWire) and some of my family from New Jersey told me that they wished they had a wedding like ours instead of their big country club weddings. All in all, an amazing day and Heather and her team are irreplaceable gems.

Beautiful. Simple. Perfect.
We were originally planning to go to the courthouse to get married (just the two of us), but when our parents, who live several states away, insisted on coming out, plans changed. We sort of stumbled across the Golden Horseshoe Inn, and I could not be happier that we did. From the initial phone call, Heather was so professional and friendly. We knew almost the moment we arrived that we would have our wedding there. Planning our (very small) elopement/wedding was seamless and stress-free. After 3 emails, we arrived the day-of and found everything absolutely perfect and beautiful- decorations, flowers, cake- all of it. And at incredibly affordable prices! I could not possibly imagine a better place for a small, mountain wedding.
We always enjoy catering at the Golden Horseshoe Inn; the venue is an adorable, charming, romantic setting right outside Shenandoah National Forest. Heather Tusing and her staff are an absolute pleasure to work with to create an individualized approach to your "special day." Their attention to detail and customer satisfaction is of utmost importance. If you're planning a smaller wedding, 70 or less, you need to book with Heather!
One of my all time favorite venues. Attention to detail, personalized, artistic, soft elegance, beautiful, creative, experienced. Heather is a true gem as well.
When I play my harp for a wedding at the Golden Horseshoe Inn, I always look forward to a relaxed and well-planned event that might have been pulled out of a movie. The beautiful mountains, the historic home, the quiet intimate setting and the friendly team of professionals all pull together to create a truly magical experience for all!
