Hi. My name is Chris. I like taking pictures.

I got my first SLR camera at ten years old, and used it to take my first photography class that summer at camp. I spent the rest of my childhood doing yard work, a paper route, babysitting, or whatever else I could to afford film, darkroom equipment, and chemicals. My “darkroom” was the hallway that connected our guest bathroom to the garage, and my parents were very kind about taking the long way around the house most days. Thanks, guys.

These days, I shoot digital. While I’m sometimes nostalgic for film, I like the freedom that digital gives me, and I like how digital technology and the internet make it so easy to quickly process and share photos. I also like that my hands don’t constantly smell like fix anymore.

I live and work in the San Diego area. I prefer to work on location, with natural light whenever possible, whether indoors or outdoors.

I am married to my best friend (also an accomplished photographer), and together, we’re raising one of the most amazing people the world has ever seen.

I’m not a great gardener, but I really like trying to grow things. My educational background is in interior design, but somehow I can’t ever quite get my house finished. I run a floral and event styling business in addition to my photography business. I like sewing, knitting, trivia, and rock and roll. I never have as much time to read as I wish I did, but I like Vonnegut, Murakami, Clarke and Bukowski. I am a terrible dancer, but I do it anyway because I like things that are fun. I have a really hard time sitting still.
