Out-of-town guest ettiquete
My FH and I are having our wedding in Iowa, but I am inviting friends from Kentucky-including 3 of my 4 bridesmaids (including MOH). We have a very limited budget, and I was wondering if it was necessary for us to provide transportation and accomodations for them. Hotels and airplane tickets are expensive....

I dont believe you should provide everything. When people agree to be a part of your wedding they understand there will be costs as do those travelling from out of state. I have friends and family from both sides coming from out of country and out of state. The only thing I am doing is organising a hire car for those flying in to share to get around and I have searched for cheap accomodations and informed everyone of the best prices around.

You do not need to pay for the accommodations or transportation. You may want to search out the best prices on hotels and block rooms to make it easier for your guests to get a good deal. Also a few of the hotels here offer transportation to the event if a certain # of rooms are blocked and rented. (One here provided van transportation too and from the wedding if 10 rooms were blocked) You can see if something like that is available.

Yeah, you are not required to provide transportation or lodging, but you can try to get a discount on a hotel room for them. We got like 40% off at our hotel for booking a wedding block, some hotels will give you a good deal if you just ask.
