Predictions wedding game - hit or miss?

Chris, on September 1, 2010 at 10:07 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hi ladies,

I heard about an interest wedding game/toast idea. You take a jar and put pieces of paper with predictions for the couple on each paper. Like "who will be the first to sleep on the couch and why"; "who will spend the couples saving and on what"; "where will the couple be in 5 years?". You get people to stand up and pull out a paper and they need to answer the question giving their prediction for the couple. These can be funny or sentimental or serious. What do you think ladies, would this be good a good wedding idea? Can anyone suggest any "predictions" to put in the jar?

That is such a fun idea, but I don't know about for the wedding itself. Maybe you could do something like this at the rehearsal dinner where it is more relaxed and less formal.

I think it would be fun IF you have friends with a sense of humor and you and your FS have a GREAT sense of humor. I would do this at the rehearsal dinner, a shower, or bachelorette party.

It does sound like fun, but like Melissa said, I think this would be fun at a shower.

Defintely not a wedding game. Would be great for any of the events listed above.

I think it would be better for a shower as the other girls have said. I don't think games really need to be played at a wedding with everything else that is going on.

Yup, I agree with the others. Cool game, but not at the wedding.

You know you'll have some smart ass that says in 5 years he sees you divorced. or you'll blow all the savings on makeup and shoes because you are high maintenance. or that the reason your husband has to sleep on the couch is becuase you caught him cheating. It's far too easy for people to become insulting or "just kidding" in an inappropriate way. It just opens the door to getting your feelings hurt.

I like this idea for a shower or a rehearsal dinner, if your family is fun-loving! I think my fam would enjoy it!

At a shower yes... at a wedding no. I am sorry but on my wedding day I don't want to guess who will be sleeping on the couch and when haha... I want to pretend we are perfect and NEVER fight hahaha

I agree with some of the posts above..good idea for a shower/rehearsal dinner etc. but probably not for the wedding..unless your wedding is less formal and your guests are fun (mine are not going to be, not all of them at least)..but its' a great idea..we did this for my sister for her bridal shower..how many kids/where they would be in 5 years/etc. Fun idea..

I also agree that it would be more for a shower than a wedding reception, but it all depends on the guests and if your wedding is more formal or informal. I also have another suggestion - have corked bottles available (could be favors for the table) where your guests write down their wishes, or predictions, and place the notes in a bottle. Place a basket on the guestbook table and have them put their bottled wishes in the basket. http://celebrate-milestones.com/bethfapeexco.html

Thanks for your input ladies. My husband's family are Russians and they are very big on playing games at wedding. Some of these that I have seen are quite silly such as dancing with a balloon squished between so that the balloon doesn't break or fall. There are many other games that involve vodka shots and seems to resemble things I have seen at bars at 1am :-(

If there has to be a few games, I would rather they be original and funny and non-vodka related. Any suggestions for other games?
