Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
I employ all PhotoShop and comparable effects such as B&W, sepia, multi-image prints, custom designed albums and magazine style proof albums.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
I work with a multitude of lighting situations depending on the location. Some examples are windowlight, outdoor lighting, 1, 2 and 3 light portraiture, church light, etc.
Is your media preference film or digital?
I prefer digital.
How many photographers do you work with?
I generally work alone, but have access to second photographers and assistants.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Absolutely.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
I have done more than one event on the same day, but only when time allows. On some weekends, I have photographed multiple events such as 3 weddings on a Friday, Saturday and a Sunday
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
I have access to several photographers through the local photo lab I work with as well as my association with the Chicagoland Professional Photographers Association.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Canon 40D and 20D Digital SLR cameras. Various Sigma zoom lenses. Canon & Metz flash units. 7-8 GB of flash card capacity.
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
I carry 2 MInolta 8000i 35mm SLR cameras along with two zoom lenses and a 12 rolls of film.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
I have hourly rates for events ranging from 4, 8 or 12 hours.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
I am available for overtime and I do charge $150 per hour.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
One.
Do you charge for travel?
Not generally. If the event is more than 75 miles from my home, I will add a travel charge.
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
The proofs are ready for viewing on-line 2-3 days after the event. Proof albums are generally ready 5-10 working days after the event
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
I have a host website for clients to view and order pictures from. I also present the client with a proof preview album which has 9-12 images per page. I also custom design a montage cover featuring various scenes from the day, complete with names & date.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
They own the proofs the moement I deliver them. All my packages include a full proof set.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
I do.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
I do.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
I will if their event has generated a preagreed number of re-orders from either on-line reorders, parent albums or album upgrades.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Yes, the host service is accessible through the on-line page of my website. I usually distribute cards at the event with the website and password for the events. Guests my register their e-mail and visit the site for 90 days after the event.
What kind of albums do you offer?
I offer a traditional style matted albums and a more contemporary flush-mount albums with multy image pages and leather covers.
When will the client get the final album?
Albums are available after a client has selected their favorite prints and has given their approval to the design or layout.
