Your Period!

Mrs. Fornasty, on March 9, 2012 at 8:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Ok Girls, When picking your date, did you consider your cycle? I did not. I am such a irregular person that even if I would of tried to pick a date around it, it probably would not of worked out. My cousin for her wedding played around with her birth control so that she made sure that she was not on her period for the wedding and honeymoon. Is anybody else considering doing this, or doing something else?

I didn't choose my date around it, but I did chart my period to be sure it wasn't coming on the date I chose. But then it started going irregular by a day or two, after 13yrs of being predictable to the hour! A day or two off was enough for me to be worried, so I went on the pill a few months ago and go straight through my active pills so that my period doesn't come. 3 months later, my period is gone and will stay gone until after the wedding. Then I plan to go off the pill and let my body do its own thing.

Nope, I was on a bc pill that I didn't get my period at all. My gyno just took me off of it due to migraines/headaches and is sending me to see a neurologist. I have no idea what my cycle is going to be because I haven't gotten my period in over two years. I also don't know if it will be sporadic or normal. I have no idea when I am even going to resume getting it. It pretty much sucks LOL

I haven't been on birthcontrol for 12 years but my DR gave me 3 boxes to manipulate mine and stop it from making an appearance because it was scheduled to come during my honeymoon.

This subject comes up about once a month (pun intended! lol) If you are on the pill, you can usually skip the intert pills in the last week and start a new pack. Be sure to check with your doctor to be sure you can do this on your perscription.

If you are not on the pill now, be sure to start several months before your wedding, as it may take a couple months to find a pill that works for you, and for your body to adjust, before you start shipping periods.

I skip regularly. I have my period every 3 months. Yup, that's 4 a year. I can flip it around, as necessary (skip just 2 months ago that I'm not having my period during an important event.) =)

I have tried birth control in the past, but it never worked (I never had a cycle when I was on it) so I got off and have not been on in 10 years. I did calculate my wedding around my cycle. The only date available was the week of my cycle. My OBGYN gave me another type of birth control on my last appointment, September, and I have been on them to regulate my cycle and make sure it is off during my wedding and honeymoon. So far so good!

We didn't plan according to my cycle.. and our form of birth control was abstinence. Unfortunately I was due for my cycle on my wedding date!! I thought it would come a few days early bc of all the wedding stress but it was actually nice to me and came 3 days after the wedding!! We didn't go on a honeymoon, but we did take a mini-moon to a church marriage retreat the weekend after the wedding and I was on my period then ]:

I actually want a honeymoon baby so after almost 8 years on the pill I stopped last month so my body can get into prime baby making shape, I'm hoping that gives me enough time to at least learn when my period naturally occurs and anticipate it whenever it may fall. If I was still on the pill I wouldve just skipped right to the next month, best part of the pill is controlling when you get a period! (well that and no babies lol)

Thanks for posting this. It reminded me that I need to get my next bc pack before vacation! Even though my wedding is more than a year away, I just did the counting and I am on my placebo (ie period week) beginning the day after the wedding, as well as for the better part of my Hawaii vacation that begins at the end of next week. If I skip my next placebo week (when I am in Hawaii), I will be fine for vacation and Hawaii. Now I gotta go to thepharmacy and get this worked out.

If you're not on BC or want to guarantee the time you get your period- try parsley tea.

Definitely! I too, like your cousin played around with my birth control so that I wouldn't get my period for my sisters wedding. If you are on birth control as well, I would recommend it for your wedding and ceremony :-)

I use BC so I plan on not taking my inactive pills if my period will occur during the wedding. good luck.

I definitely considered my cycle when picking my date. I've been on BC for about 10 years and have predictable periods, which I love.

I will finish up my period about 4 days before our wedding, which is great! Though I may be a bit b*tchy the week before the wedding.

Many moons ago, when I was 21, I used to have severe cramps. The kind of cramps that kept me in bed. We picked our date first because it was our meeting anniversary. However, once I realized Aunt Flo was visiting, I went on the BC pill to extend my cycle and I missed it for a week. Whew! I could have been a version of "Sixteen Candles" had I not.

I counted up my calendar and I am due to start the day of the wedding...and I am pretty regular. All I am hoping for now is a few day early periods here and there - which happen occasionally. When the date gets closer and if it looks like it isn't going to happen that way, I plan on using BC to move it. I did it several years ago when I went to Europe. I did not want to lug tampons around with me the 2 weeks I was over there. I changed it about a month before. Worked like a charm, and my body picked up it's regular 28-day cycle after I go off of it when I got back.

We didnt. Im am completely irregular, to the point where i can be anywhere from 28 to 68 days between each cycle, and I've never found a BC pill that didnt give me an issue one way or another. We just ook our chances and I wound up getting it the first day of our honeymoon. Luckly for us, our wedding night was aunt flow free lol. My hubby didnt mind too much since he's used to the irregularity anyways

I have heard that if you take sugar pills it will move/hold off your period. I personally have never checked into it but I have hard of it.
