NWR...should I go blonde? **PICS INCLUDED**

Cydney J (Cydney M), on May 3, 2012 at 3:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 65

So I've never EVER dyed my hair a light color. My natural hair color is mousy brown. If I dye my hair, it's always to a really dark brown. But lately, I've been considering dying my hair blonde.

What do you ladies think? I've been messing with a thing online to see what it would look like

Pic 1: When I dye my hair dark brown

Pic 2: Comp version of me with blonde hair

Pic 3: My natural hair color

I sent a picture to DH and he said "Yes!" "Double Yes!" "Triple Yes!" ... all in 3 separate texts messages.

Last time I chopped my hair and went back to my normal hair color (b/c DH said Yes to that as well) I got home and he told me he hated it...when I asked him what he hated...he said everything. I cried for 3 hours after that.

I know it's just hair...but hair has always been my thing I have a hard time changing...I love it long and I love it dark...but lately, for some reason...I've been wanting a change.

What do you ladies think??

AHH YES YOU SHOULD! However it will take a while to go blonde. Are you gonna get blonde highlights or just do an all over color?

it dosent hurt to try it, plus if you hate it you can always die it back!

You are def one of those people that can pull any color off! I personally agree with Kimberly I love the dark color on you but if you wanted a change I'd go for it...it looks great on you too!

Hmmm, tough one. I really like you with dark hair. It compliments your skin tone.

Blonde looks pretty too, but you will become a slave to hair appts as it grows out & blond tends to wash people out. Go to a wig shop and see what you think with it on your head.

You could definitely pull off blonde but i'm going to have to agree with Kimberly - I think if you actually went the opposite end of the spectrum - jet black - it would look REALLY good with your tan skin and lighter eyes....exotic!

Your natural color and the dark work much better. Your skin tone and eye color really look great with the dark. The blonde makes you look somewhat washed out. There isn't anything wrong with your natural color by the way. That's a very nice brown, not mousy at all!

Sorry....I changed the pics up a bit...the first pic didn't show my natural color off very well. So I swapped it out.

lol...now DH is telling me he'll pay for it if I go blonde...good grief.

I'm not sure what to do.

I appreciate all the sweet comments

Aretina - Most people think I look exotic in the summer when I get super tan with my dark hair and green eyes. It's one of the reasons I loved having the darker hair.

My mom loves my natural hair color.

Ahh...IDK...I think getting a wig and seeing what it would look like in person is a great idea!

NO ...don't do it. I tried once and I looked ridiculous. I went back the next day and had them changed me back to brown. I think you look gorgeous with your natural color or the darker. I always go darker too. Blonde highlights aren't bad maybe you should try them.

I wouldn't die my hair so close to wanting to try to have a baby. I'm not trying to be all like you have to be completely purified and not do anything to your body, but I have heard that some of those chemicals might not be good for your body.

I have a similar shade of hair (your natural color) and have been considering the same thing, but I am a huge chicken so I think I'll start with golden blond highlights and go from there. I think you look great in all 3 pictures though. You should make a deal with your hubby- if he tells you to go blond and you do he is not allowed to say anything remotely critical about how it turns out! Guys don't totally understand how sensitive we are about our hair. Smiley winking

Well I'd go with what you think suits you better or what you'd be more comfortable with..I really like your darkest hair better, but you look good in any color. Make sure you do it for you though (well in part lol) and don't let DH pressure you. my DH also has a desire for me to dye my hair blonde and I've never had light hair or dyed my hair either..but ya I think that was not cool for your Dh before to tell you he hated your natural hair..that's why I feel the decision should be more based on what you want.

I think you'd make a nice blonde... it's a lot of up-keep though.. and if you're planning to get preggers, just bare in mind that you probably don't want to dye your hair much during pregnancy (I know some women that do, so no judgement here) so you may go with roots for a while ;P

Edit: I like the first blond look better, personally..

Instead of going blonde, why not do strong/chunky blond highlights? I have mousey brown hair also, and to brighten it up during the summer I usually do highlights- It will definitely still change up your look quite a bit!

Casey...I think that's a fair agreement LOL ... I don't think they realize it either. To him...it's just hair. To me, it's part of my identity.

@Ab Z ... DH has never asked me to go blonde. This has been something I've been thinking about for a couple of months now. I found the website and then shot him over a picture of it to ask what he thought. So if I did it...it would be b/c I chose to...though, I do like his opinion too Smiley smile Just not when he tells me he hates it...especially when I'm on the edge about liking it or not.

Dark is way better, the blonde colour gives you 10 extra years.

The blonder you go the older you look.

P.S. for all the ladies: when changing your hair colour please consider your skin colour.

Cydney, I think that you are beautiful just the way that you are!

That being said, if you want to go blonde, I would start out with heavy blonde highlights. Please go to a professional to do this because all brunettes have red undertones and sometimes the highlights can come out looking very brassy if you arent able to put a toner over them.

But when you go blonde you will have a lot of upkeep! The regrowth alone should be done at least every 4 to 6 weeks.

The advice that I give people that are considering this, is to do highlights and if they love how it looks to add more the next time that they come in. Even if its 2 weeks later lol

I love the dark brown...it looks so pretty and healthy, but I thinly the blonde would look great on you as well...just keep in mind that blonde is a lot of maintenance and it can be really rough on your hair

LOVE the dark brown. It's so shiny and rich!! Is that a dark chocolate brown mixed with some other color?? I would love to know the type of colors you or your stylist used. Please and thank you =)
