NWR...should I go blonde? **PICS INCLUDED**

So I've never EVER dyed my hair a light color. My natural hair color is mousy brown. If I dye my hair, it's always to a really dark brown. But lately, I've been considering dying my hair blonde. What do you ladies think? I've been messing with a thing online to see what it would look like Pic 1:...

What do you ladies think? I've been messing with a thing online to see what it would look like

Pic 1: When I dye my hair dark brown

Pic 2: Comp version of me with blonde hair

Pic 3: My natural hair color

I sent a picture to DH and he said "Yes!" "Double Yes!" "Triple Yes!" ... all in 3 separate texts messages.

Last time I chopped my hair and went back to my normal hair color (b/c DH said Yes to that as well) I got home and he told me he hated it...when I asked him what he hated...he said everything. I cried for 3 hours after that.

I know it's just hair...but hair has always been my thing I have a hard time changing...I love it long and I love it dark...but lately, for some reason...I've been wanting a change.

What do you ladies think??

Hmmm... its hard to say. I am exactly how you with hair; yes it grows back but I seriously freak out during trims sometimes because I love my long dark hair.

And I am very biased to say that stay dark or your natural color - I'm not a blonde person personally. But if you want a change, I say try it once. I tried it once with blonde highlights and it was nice and the change definitely made me feel better but it wasn't for me. But I wouldn't of known had I not tried!

So my opinion, go for it. But I also think you look gorgeous with dark hair!

You are definitely one of those girls that can pull off different hair colors Smiley smile I'm partial to the darker color and your natural color though. I used to be really blonde actually and then one day I got sick of how high maintenance the blonde was so I went dark (my natural color is the same as your natural color) and I love it. I do agree with some other posts though that said if you try it and hate it you could always dye it back Smiley smile Let us know what you decide!

@Andrea Ank: when you'r hair expert you would know what i meant when i said it gives you age =)

Everyone including me when going to lighter than the dark blonde will look older "specially if wearing no make-up" & same way if you want to make it black it makes you look older, she asked for our opinion, and i gave her my honest one cz I prefer an honest tough answer over a sweet lie" that's me! Beside i have a long hair dyeing experience and so familiar with the techniques, and I won't give advices for issues am not sure about.

@Cydney: in the first pic, you look like a russian doll, that's why i said: the dark suits you best. Unfortunately some people consider honesty bad. But that's what I truly meant.

Am an honest person, and i really hate it when you ask people for their opinion between 2 or 3 options and they go like: you look great in all! Hope you got me =)

Nanab~Thats great that you have your own personal advice about dying your own hair, However I happen to have 20 years of behind the chair experience and would never give someone advice that I havent personally used on clients!
That being said, Cydney knows that I would never blow smoke up her a$$ and that IMO if its something that she wants that she should try it out.

IMO I think your natural and dark hair is better. I feel that blonde will not do any justice.

Give it a try! I like the first blond pic better than the second one. As a natural [Smiley winking] platinum blonde, I think everyone should try it once in their life. You'll never know what looks best on you until you've tried it all!

You look good with both hair colors. I say try the blonde and if you don't like it you can dye it back!

Thanks ladies for all the opinions Smiley smile

I had a lot of mixed reviews, not only on here but on FB as well.

I'll have to sleep on it, talk to my hair stylist and see what I decide.

I will let you ladies know what I ultimately do :-D

Well whatever you decide to do, make sure you can back to your natural color in july when you start TTC bc you cant color your hair when ur knocked up and you dont want blonde hair and brown roots for 9 months!

i think they blonde will look good but i wouldnt go TOO blonde the very first time, you can always lighten it later.

I would try a dark blonde. I have the same natural hair color as you and I typically dye my hair darker too. Blonde does work on me, but I had blonde hair naturally until I was a teenager, and my skin is very pale. I recommend trying new things! It's just hair Smiley smile

Also, not all doctors say you can't dye your hair during pregnancy. Many women do. Those choices are between the woman and her doctor.

I don't go off bc until the end of July. I'm sure by that time I'll be ready to go back to the dark brown. I haven't dyed my hair since October and the transition from the dark brown to my natural color wasn't too bad.

I love the dark brown, the blonde washes you out a bit, but you know you are gorgeous either way girl!!!

Start with highlights and see what happens. You can always add more, but you can't take away (unless you do an overhaul). It really depends on your hair and your undertones. I naturally have mousey brown hair, but I have a lot of red undertones so when I tried to go blonde, I ended up orange....twice....and I mean bozo the clown orange.

I've got an appointment with my hair stylist....she and I are going to sit down and see what we can do and how my hair will take to different colors. Then I will decide at that point, what I want to do and schedule for a time to actually do it Smiley smile

I'm getting nervous AND excited! I'll let you ladies know what I officially decide!

Thanks for all the lovely comments and feedback!

Ok I HAVE to comment on this thread. First off, I'm a flitter between dark dark brown and blonde.. I switch back and forth all the time (like once a year). Going from dark brown to blonde is a big process. It will take you about 4 visits of full head of highlights to get almost as light as your picture. I went to my stylist once a month for 4 months to get to where I am now with my blonde, which is where I'm actually content with the color. Secondly, bleaching over box color can be a process. You can expect to have your hair be a little "brassy" the first set of highlight - not the pretty blonde you have in your picture. Thirdly, you can expect some breakage from the ends of your hair. Bleaching hair dries the crap out of it.. not fun initially, but with the right products it can be managed. Finally, you can achieve the blonde sooner if your stylist does a "bleach cocktail" on your hair. This process basically strips the color out of your hair, and then your stylist bleaches the hair
