Wedding details
True Love stands the test of time Eric and I met in 1983 at college. We lived in the same dorm, but didn't see or meet each other until we had been in school a few weeks. I went to a rush week bonfire, and saw him across the fire with a group of other boys and couldn't take my eyes off of him. His friends alerted him to this creepy girl who was staring at him. The next day, he walked up to me in the dorm and very confidently introduced himself, telling me his name and then added "Don't you ever forget it". I never did. By the end of the week, we were spending most of our free time together and went on a "real date" shortly after that. Within three months, we were engaged. We spent almost two years together, struggling in a never ending uphill battle of the things that plague young lovers: School, work, partying, family and just trying to find ourselves. Needless to say, it didn't work out, and we were both broken hearted. We went our separate ways and never saw or spoke to each other again. But we moved on..each marrying someone else in 1987 and each having three children. Fast forward a few years....till 2009 to be exact... By this time, both of our marriages were crumbling ( I had already filed for divorce) and we were both faced with the grim prospect of starting over. Alone, depressed and without much hope to cling to. In late July of 2009, I got the guts to search for Eric on Facebook. I had looked before, but either he wasn't there or I couldn't find him. But this time, there he was. So I sent him a friends request and waited. The next morning, he replied with an email. What had I done???? OMG was this the biggest can of worms I had ever opened? It turned out that he was a very unhappy man, but God had told him that something big was going to happen, and that he should be patient and wait for it. We started emailing each other constantly, then instant messaging using Yahoo Messenger whenever we could. We had a very tentative, very short phone call that we will never forget. The sound of the other's voice was like being shot back in time. It wasn't long before we realized that we both still loved each other as much if not more than we had before and decided to give being together another try. We saw each other again for the first time on New Year's Ever, 2009. Seeing him in that airport hallway was like the bonfire all over again. Except this time I knew what was behind that handsome face. A boy who was crazy and silly and made me laugh like no one else ever could. But, a boy who had grown into a sensitive, caring, wonderful man i could really build a happy life with this time. It was the most magical weekend of my life. He lived in Pennsylvania and I lived in Nebraska. But he came to visit me about every six weeks, just for a few days, until he was able to move here in July of 2010. We are thrilled to have been reunited with the one we were intended to be with from the start, and can't wait to walk down the aisle and start our lives together as husband and wife...........finally. Thanks for reading our story. We hope that yours is just as magical, but didn't take so long to come to its happy ending
