Advice From Martha? Create a Midnight Snack Box For Your FH and You! What would you put in it?

Carole M (a.k.a "old tart"), on January 13, 2012 at 1:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Hi everyone,

Just like I am sure all of you, when I came on the internet to plan my wedding, I signed up for every site. Well, Martha's was one of them. Martha and I are not the best of friends. In fact, I pretty much loathe the "Martha Way" mainly because she is so freaking perfect. Who the heck can think of all of those things? I will bet her granny white drawer is really messy! : )

Alas, today's advice from Martha was outstanding. Create a midnight snack box to take to your hotel the night of your wedding. Now, Martha suggests caviar, cheeses and grapes. I say to hell with that I want Twinkies, Doritoes and Chocolate. I was dieting forever to fit in my dress. Oh yes, I would also include a six pack for me and a bottle of the DH's single malt Scotch.

If you were going to do a midnight snack box, what would you put in it?

We're getting a midnight snack delivered to our reception....Chicago-style pizza and chocolate chip cookies for everyone!!! Smiley smile

If it was just us in a hotel.....I would probably still order Chicago-style pizza and chocolate chip cookies. I think pizza and chocolate chip cookies should each be their own food group.

This is such a cute idea!!! I would put doritos, beef jerky, and oatmeal cream pies for FH and chocolate, twizlers, and white cheddar popcorn for me. Also some miller light or soda....lots of soda haha I'm on my get healthy for the wedding/life plan right now too. I generally eat pretty well anyways but I've def been more strict now that I have a dress to fit into lol. this would be a perfect after wedding indulgance.

    Ha ha Hayley, good list.

@Carole, I absolutely despise Martha for the very same reasons. I would keep cheese and add some decadent, dark chocolate truffles. Lots of them.

Martha is an idiot. Everyone should know all drunks want to chow down on is a greasy burger and fries!!

... then sex. lots and lots of ruthless sex. RIGHT ON HAYLEY!

LOL Hayley! This is a cute idea though, for DH it would be a nice bottle of wine and some artisanal cheeses. I, on the other hand, am going with Hayley's train of thought- whip cream, chocolate sauce, edible panties...

Edit- forget the edible panties, they taste terrible, like stale fruit roll ups. (or so I hear Smiley winking )

Don't forget the leftover wedding cake.

And eff Martha! I spent $40 and 2 days making ribbon wands out of dowel rods, eyelet screws and mounds of ribbon b/c I saw some pretty picture on her website. Unfortunately I neglected the fact that if I have a bunch of wooden sticks laying around one of my nieces will likely poke out her eye, that none of the grown men at our wedding would be caught dead waving ribbons around, and that we're not even doing a grand exit. Her etiquette advice sucks too. Smiley smile

If anyone would like to buy 100 yellow ribbon wands please let me know. Smiley smile

Hayley....LMAO....I totally forgot about those edibles. YOu can send Cate the pm, I won't be suggesting those and it is too late for Frank and me. Smiley smile When are you due with #2?

Kris S....That is awesome. I agree. Pizza and cookies are perfect. My cookie of choice is Double Stuffed Oreos, though.

Kerry B.....I am so sick of healthy living for a wedding. I did it for months for mine and on Monday, err...yes, on Monday, I start the program for my daughter's wedding. I don't think I will make one for her wedding. I plan on pigging out on her wedding day. The industrial strength spanx will be working over time.

Mrs. S.....Yum! I Love any kind of chocolate, but dark chocolate is my fave. Re the cheese, hmmm, I think that could be too healthy for me. I might need the spray cheese.

Kimi K......Agreed, Martha sucks. Yes, drunks love grease. Here in Philly, it would be a cheese steak.

Mental note: Add local cheese steak place to my daughter's weekend survival letter for welcome bags.

Clare....I guess I am an old fart. First the food, than the hand cuffs. Re the edible panties, Frank would agree!

Kris S....LMAO! I hear you can resell on weddingbee.com. All day Sunday, at our DW, all Frank and I did was eat leftover carrot cake. I am surprised my honeymoon tropical attire fit.

    Great idea!!!

I will say DH and I were starving when we got to our B&B. Luckily we had a bunch of leftovers from when my bms were helping me get ready earlier!! So we munched on crackers, cheese, cold cuts, mixed fruit and some cookies! It was perfect : ) Went well with the champagne that was waiting for us when we got there!!

Our venue had a honeymoon suite for us, so they put a GINORMOUS piece of cake in our room, some candy from the candy buffet, my leftover wine and DH's leftover beer (we had our own secret stash!). It was awesome. I'd recommend taking a piece of cake in a box - we didn't get to eat any of ours during the reception, so it was great to have some that night. And in the morning. Hehe. Smiley smile

Oh man Claire all I can think of when I hear edible undies is the Larry the cable guy skit on the Blue Collar tour where he talks about bisket and gravy edible undies and how he loves eating them...oh haha

Um no need for snacks..we would have everything we need to snack on Smiley winking

We are having a late night snack at the wedding: A friend of ours owns a gyro spot, so he is coming and shaving fresh gyros for our guests with pitas, tomatos, onions, and taziki sauce from 10 to 11 Smiley smile
