  We couldn't have asked for a more perfect cake! Leslie took my wild and crazy ideas and brought them to life. When cake tasting, it was so hard to pick a flavor because all her cakes are absolutely amazing. I would recommend anyone to her for any type of cake or pastry for any event, from birthday party all the way to weddings.

  Our wedding cake was amazing! From start to finish, Chef Leslie was kind, welcoming, and helpful, and made our cake a major hit of our wedding day!
  
  We got married in Rhinebeck and our wedding planner recommended Calico. After reading some reviews and looking at some pictures, we went for a tasting with Chef Leslie. She is thorough and asks the right questions to guide your style choices. She is also honest and realistic about what can and can't be accomplished, and helped me figure out what I wanted as far as design. I ultimately sent her a few pictures and asked her to kind of mix them together, and the end result was fantastic.
  
  Calico offers a gluten free cake option, which was a major bonus as some of my bridesmaids and guests are gluten free. It happens to be hazelnut, which is a favorite flavor for my husband and me. So the choice was not terribly difficult. And, people raved about the cake. We are still eating some leftovers - and it is still moist a week later!
  
  Leslie also offers clients the option of freezing their top layer or baking a fresh top layer (any flavor) on their 1 year anniversary. So we will be back at Calico in a year (if not before)!
  
  On a personal note, Leslie is also just kind and excited for her brides. Every time I called her or stopped in she checked in with me on the planning and asked me if I was excited.   Calico is the absolute BEST, hands down. Leslie is a baking genius and you will not be disappointed. It is an extremely charming atmosphere and you will feel like you have known Leslie and her husband a lifetime. I used Calico for my bridal shower cake, wedding cake, rehearsal dinner cake and baked goods for wedding. I am officially hooked and every single person at my events has been ranting and raving about how amazing the cakes and desserts were. I will travel hours to get these goodies if I need to because they are worth every single penny! Leslie is extremely reasonable cost wise and helps you see your vision through. She has delicious flavors, our fave being the raspberry filling-- AMAZING. These cakes and goodies are extremely fresh, moist and flavorful. Every holiday and birthday now must have a Calico cake! You will not be disappointed and a Calico cake is an absolute must for your event!

  The best cake we've ever had. Leslie made sure our cake was beautiful and delicious for our wedding. We also had a selection of chocolate truffles and coconut macaroons that were a big hit. I would highly recommend using Calico for any kind of cake or pastry that you need.

  Leslie was great to work with on my wedding cake. She was able to take a photograph I gave her and replicate it. She was responsive to my phone calls and was pleasant to meet with for the cake tastings. The best part about Calico was that the cake was delicious. Everyone loved it and raved about it at the wedding.

  Calico made us the perfect cake! We weren't sure what we wanted, but they helped us to create a custom cake that matched our day and our menu. And for our first anniversary, they made us a fresh cake topper so we wouldn't have to celebrate with a frozen, year-old cake. It was a great way to relive our special day all over again.

  Our wedding cake was very simple, plain except for the words "all you need is love" on the bottom tier. Calico made it perfectly and it was delicious! They partnered with my florist to add the perfect extra detail. We can't wait to have another taste in July! Very pleased with their services, would recommend to anyone.

  Calico came highly recommended as the place to go for our wedding cake. Leslie was amazing and so pleased to be part of our day. Once you sit and choose the details of your wedding cake you get to taste the different types of cake. She gives you a list to choose from. All the flavors were amazing but our favorite was the white cake with mocha mousseline with raspberry puree.This cake was amazing! I am still craving this cake. They also offer for you to take the topper for your 1 year anniversary or Calico will make you a fresh cake on your anniversary. I usually don't like a lot of the wedding cake I have at others weddings but this is by far the best I have ever had. Highly recommended!

  The ONLY place you should go to get a wedding cake in the Hudson Valley. Calico's cakes are all amazingly delicious and SO beautiful. Leslie did my wedding cake (pear, vanilla mouse, almond cake) and it was divine, but we tasted two other options from her and could barely decide!
  
  She uses the best, freshest ingredients, and her textures are divine. Moist, fluffy cake, and light, flavorful mousses. I wish I could add photos to this review, our cake was so beautiful!!!

  My family and I have loved Calico Restaurant and Patisserie for many years now. We knew we had to have Leslie Balassone create our wedding cake. Our expectations were met and EXCEEDED! Leslie is not only an incredible person who is delightful to be around, she is an extraordinary artist who's cakes are not only delicious but beautiful and elegant! Leslie is a true professional who's passion for her work is abundantly clear. She has the ability to make you feel as if you're the only bride she is currently working with- even when you know she must be baking 100's of other cakes! My husband and I showed Leslie a photo of the cake we wanted and not only did she re-create it, she perfected it and made it better than we could have ever imagined! To top it all off I asked Leslie to surprise my husband with a grooms cake in the shape of a cheeseburger! You would never know this was Leslie's first time creating such a cake as it was beyond perfect. My wedding guests are still talking about it! Not only did it look amazing- it was out of this world delicious! My guests couldnt believe such an awesome looking cake could also taste so amazing! There really are no words to describe the gratitude we feel. It was an absolute pleasure working with Leslie and we are thrilled that our guests loved her work just as much as we did! Everyone should have Leslie bake their wedding cake. She is the best!

  If you live in the Hudson Valley, you know that Calico is THE ONLY PLACE to get your wedding cake. I figured the cost of these cakes would be through the roof, but the price is very reasonable considering the wedding cake not only looks gorgeous, but tastes AMAZING!! Rave reviews from our guests!

  Leslie made my wedding cake this past weekend (chocolate and peanut butter!) and people LOVED it. It was not only gorgeous, but I had at least 10 people tell me it was the best wedding cake they have ever had. She was easy to work with, the cake was top quality and I had the wedding cake of my dreams. I would absolutely recommend Calico to anyone planning a wedding!

  Leslie is not just a baker, she is an artist. Our wedding cake the best I've ever tasted (try the white cake with strawberry mousse - real strawberries!) and was also a work of art. She hand-crafted candy orchids that looked even prettier than real flowers. I had a very specific color request, and she went out and found the exact color ribbon that I had envisioned. Leslie was easy to work with, called me with updates, and delivered exactly what we discussed. She will even make you a fresh cake topper for your 1-year anniversary that looks like your original cake! Wonderful and highly recommended.

  Our cake vendor bailed on us last minute and we needed a cake 3 weeks before our wedding. Calico was super professional and came through with an awesome cake for us with little notice. It looked beautiful and was delicious! The price was affordable and it was very high quality.

  We LOVED our wedding cake from Calico! Leslie is a true professional and passionate about her work. We tried three cakes at our tasting and loved all of them. We decided on half chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse and half chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse and chocolate ganache. Both were divine! The peanut butter mousse is out of this world - it is so peanut-buttery! Leslie also really worked with us to plan out the design of the cake based on the photos we brought in. She asked a lot of questions and offered great suggestions. We dropped off loose flowers from our florist and she placed them beautifully on the cake. We received so many compliments from our guests.
