We wanted a delicious chocolate cake for our wedding. My hometown bakery, the Prolific Oven in Palo Alto, was going out of business, so I had to find a last minute replacement for our wedding October 5. Rick’s was booked for wedding cakes, but Ahmad said we could order a regular cake and he would deliver it to our venue. We ordered a half sheet cake of fudge ripple and a triple layer fudge ripple, as well as a cheesecake. It turned out so moist and delicious. We defrost a piece at least once or twice a week, and it is still as good as on our wedding night. It was only a $200 order and it really made our night. We chose Rick’s because they could deliver the cake. Having it delivered was a must. We joke that the cake might have been the best part of the wedding! Photos are of leftover sheet cake. The triple layer was more elegant, but was completely devoured.

My wife and I hired John and Judy Shelton (a husband and wife team) at Shelton’s Wedding Cake Designs. We met with John a couple of times and had a very nice experience. When you walk into their office and see examples of their work, you’ll get an immediate sense of their talents. Shelton’s was recommended by all of our wedding service providers and we’re very grateful to them for this. My fiancé and I met with a couple wedding cake designers. Rather than giving us a plate of various sample slices, Shelton’s actually made us small 6” diameter sample cakes. Each was properly decorated with the cake type and filling written on the top. Such up-front effort to a client demonstrates their professionalism, care, and quality. If there was a drawback, it would certainly be ‘which type of cake and filling to go with’ as they are all so very delicious! One couldn’t go wrong with any of them. We chose a white cake with chocolate chips and chocolate fudge filling. The cake was exactly what my fiancé and I had in mind and it was as beautiful as it was delicious. We provided them with a photo of a design we had in mind and they matched it exactly. We couldn’t be more impressed and our guests had nothing but praise and awe for the cake. Thank you John and Judy.

Brita was incredibly helpful when it came to accommodating us. My husband decided he wanted a cake only 7 weeks before our wedding after we had decided against it. She was able to arrange for a tasting with our parents (since we were 3000 miles away) and was very helpful. The cake was delivered exactly as requested and it was gorgeous. We had 2 flavors; one was very dry. The other was delicious. I would caution against the vanilla bean and/or champagne. Everything else was perfect.

Aileen was amazing and our cake turned out just like I envisioned it, and was tasty to boot. We also visited Freeport Bakery when we were looking for a cake and Aileen had more flavors, better tasting cake and frosting, and gave us more cake and design details for cheaper. Everyone was impressed with the cake. We made a couple of changes throughout the process in our cake design and flavors and she was always quick to get back to me and happy to help. Getting the cake was the least stressful part of the wedding and I'm so grateful.

Savannah was my saving grace!!! My husband is horribly allergic to anything dairy, and because of that we were having an awful time trying to find a bakery that would even think to accommodate the GROOM! I was lamenting all this to my mom when she remembered Savannah's business card, which she had grabbed for me during an expo before COVID hit. Not only can Savannah do desserts that are gluten free and/or dairy free, she can make them taste INCREDIBLE!!! I wish I could give her a 6/5. I am seriously thinking of hiring her again just so I can eat her brownies. Instead of doing one big cake, my husband and I wanted to do a dessert table with 3-5 options for our guests. Savannah was extremely accommodating with that request, and even gave some good ideas on what should be served (little bit of chocolate, little bit of fruity, etc...). We ended up with a dessert table that was EMPTY by the end of the night. we had 57 guests and got 100 desserts total.. I think the only thing left was 1 or 2 cupcakes, which my husband was very happy with since hose were his favorites. The way everything was decorated was absolutely adorable as well. I specifically remember the brownies( Seriously, they are incredible), when we had scheduled our tasting she brought them to taste and they were definitely yummy, but they didn't look the part. Boy was I happy to see them on the dessert table!! All frosted as well with chocolate frosting to make them look just that little bit better for a wedding.... So so good. I gotta buy more. Desserts were the best thing ever!
