I would highly recommend Willi Wong to be your wedding day photographer! He was recommended to me by a friend - most of her family had also hired him to be their photographer. He is a seasoned photographer who is packed with experience in photography. An extra bonus for me is that he's Chinese and speaks Cantonese (it was easy when he needed to communicate with my family during family portrait sessions, it gets pretty chaotic) and he understands all of the Chinese rituals that went on during the ceremonies - he doesn't skip a beat! He's also extremely passionate and dedicated to taking great photos - he will do what he has to in order to get that shot in. I am so happy that Willi was with us on our wedding day to capture every single little detail of our special day!

Willi is really one of the best there is. Shortly after we got engaged my sister called me and told me about Willi and said that we had to have him at our wedding. He had photographed her sister-in-laws weddings and my sister told met they were the best she had seen. Willi traveled down to Washington DC for our wedding and honestly I was a little nervous because I knew that he was NYC based and was worried he wouldn't know DC well enough to capture our favorite scenes. I also didn't meet Willi until the Thursday before our wedding weekend.

All of that said, working with him was entirely flawless. He came down at met us at our venue on the Thursday before the wedding to meet with us and even snapped a few shots of us that day. He spent time scoping out the city to get a feel for where he would want to shoot on the wedding day. On the day of the wedding he was prompt, even early, and stayed until the very end. He made us feel comfortable the whole time, especially as we are both sort of shy around the camera and don't love to be photographed. The results speak for themselves... he is truly talented. If you want your wedding pictures to be timeless masterpieces than you can't go wrong. The portraits of us look like paintings. The pictures of the ceremony and reception are all wonderful too. Everyone who sees our pictures is in awe.

Willi put a few pictures on his blog a few days after the wedding and below is an excerpt from an e-mail I sent him when we got a peak, just so you can see that my feelings have remained the same four months post wedding:

"Wow. I'm speechless. Mike and I are on our honeymoon in Hawaii and getting the preview of pictures has been a very special treat. The pictures are truly amazing. We love every single one. I don't think I can thank you enough for your time and work over the weekend. At the end of the day, aside from the memories, all you have after a wedding are the pictures-- and you have captured every moment so beautifully, we will have memories for a lifetime."

We got Willi’s name from a friend of ours who had used him for their wedding. We met with Willi to see his portfolio and were extremely impressed. Especially after meeting with several other photographers and not being blown away.
The day of our wedding was so hot. Yet, Willi never let on that he was uncomfortable and had so much energy. He also had to put up with some cranky people that were not too happy taking a lot of pictures in the heat. He gave direction in order to get the right pictures but without being rude. We also got a video, which we were not going to do at first. We are so happy we did. It's unbelievable and our family loves it. Our wedding pictures exceeded our expectations and we are so thankful to Willi for capturing the entire wedding day.
