All throughout our planning process we ran into other individuals who had amazing things to say about their experiences with Whitehall Estate and working with Doug, and now we are going to be some of those people. Throughout the entire process, and this was a COVID wedding so it was a process, Doug had a plan, recommendations, and a kind and reassuring presence for us. Doug was flexible and understanding which allowed us to make the wedding everything we dreamed of and more. On the wedding day, everything went so smoothly thanks to the many Whitehall employees who were helping us. The BBQ buffet was incredible! I could really go on for days about the place that Whitehall has in our hearts, but just know that they have completely earned this 5 star review.

From the moment we visited Whitehall in June 2019, we knew it was were we wanted to get married. The grounds and building are gorgeous and well-maintained, there is plenty of space for guests, and the onsite catering was an added bonus. We had visited a few venues before Whitehall, but as soon as we started talking with Doug he was so helpful and you can clearly tell he loves what he does. He has great recommendations of vendors and was realistic and honest about costs for budgets.
We had done all of our planning, a delicious tasting, and were getting ready to send out invitations when COVID-19 happened. Doug has been extremely flexible, responsive, and helpful for this stressed out and anxious bride. In the best interest of our families (who are all from out of state), we decided to postpone our large reception to next year. Doug went out of his way to get in touch with our photographer first to make sure she was available on the days we were looking at. I cried tears of joy when I read his email telling me this, it meant so much during this crazy time that he added more work for himself to help me out.
When we did decide on a new date, we were still able to use the grounds this year for our ceremony. We still wanted to get married on our original date and it truly meant the world to us to keep part of our originally planned wedding exactly as we imagined it. Doug made sure that the grounds were ready, we had chairs for our immediate families who were able to attend the ceremony, and gave us access to cool down inside (so helpful on a hot, humid NOVA July day). We are so looking forward to our larger reception next year to celebrate with all of our friends and family. I cannot thank Doug and the entire team at Whitehall for helping us plan the wedding of our dreams – even if it is broken up into two parts a year apart. We cannot wait to continue our celebration next year.

My husband and I LOVED our experience with Whitehall! The location is absolutely gorgeous and all of our guests raved about it. Doug Armstrong was always available for help, and the entire staff was friendly and accommodating. He has years of experience and wisdom he shares freely, but listens to unique desires as well. The catering is great, and we received a lot of compliments on the food and ice cream sundae bar. The whole day was a dream come true and the staff took care of things on the day that I wasn't even aware of. Just like every bride wants! (:

Whitehall was the first venue we visited right after our daughter's engagement 1 year ago. As soon as we arrived with our daughter and fiance we all knew this would be our choice: (1) Location and setting: Our wedding was planned for December 2019. Whitehall's setting in Bluemont VA (15 miles west of Leesburg) is extraordinary and a perfect fit for our daughter and fiance who love this area. Even the drive on the rolling hills of route 7 creates a sense of anticipation. As you drive onto the property, which we understand was built in the 1800's, you immediately visualize the amazing photo shots that can be taken and the opportunities for an indoor or outdoor ceremony with grape vineyards, beautiful landscaping and the mansion itself with the Virginia countryside as a backdrop, (2) The Mansion - The inside is spacious yet intimate. Guests are able to explore the other parts of the home with period furniture and decor, bridal party and groomsmen rooms and more amazing spots for photos. This provided great quiet spaces for people to talk and allowed our daughter's 89 year old grandmother to take a break, (3) Friendly, flexible, professional service - When we met Doug we immediately knew he would be easy and flexible to work with. It's always a good indication when you see that the staff have been there for many years. And when we contacted vendors for flowers, DJ, photography, etc., they had all done weddings at Whitehall and worked well together. A big plus with Whitehall is they do their own catering in a massive onsite kitchen. We had heard great things about the food and this was confirmed when we went for a tasting to finalize our selections. They were very accomodating for dietary restrictions. And the overall pricing was an extremely good value with gratuity included (so no hidden costs). Also, they allowed us to provide our own alcohol beverages (many of our guests were non-drinkers), (4) The day of the wedding - As Doug puts it, after the ceremony "the system kicks in". The staff have this nailed down! Thanks to a team effort of a great day-of coordinator (Sabrina Casas- Afterglow), a great DJ (Kirk Rubley) and the Whitehall staff, the entire evening was perfect. The Whitehall staff even built a couple of bonfires ouside for a cigar session. And after the reception was over, the cleanup was done quickly and efficiently, allowing us to get to our afterparty.

We highly recommend Whitehall for your wedding choice!

Working with Whitehall Estate was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Doug is very responsive and helpful during the planning phase and on the day of. The staff is very efficient, flexible and accommodating. The venue is beautiful and the food amazing!

Below is exactly what I wrote to the event manager at Whitehall and I meant every word of it!

I just wanted to say thank you to you and your staff! Our day was amazing and we are so appreciative for all of the prep and planning that you and your staff did for us. We had so many compliments on the building, the landscape, grounds, etc. The bridal party was ecstatic at their setup in a private room so that they could enjoy cocktail hour as well. Your staff was always one step ahead of us - opening doors, personally delivering Chris and I hors d’oeuvres and drinks, constantly checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. I heard so many compliments about your staff as well. They were well dressed, polite, and helpful. The buffet station flowed smoothly and everyone carving/serving had a smile on their face. I received many compliments on the food, too! One individual "complained" the hors d’oeuvres were too hot - which is a good complaint in my book! The bartenders were quick and efficient and kept everyone’s glass full, which made for a good time! Please give them all our thanks and appreciation for making our day so perfect!

Whitehall Estate is a beautiful venue. The service is awesome and they are very flexible. They went above and beyond for us and our vendors. Our wedding was a dream come true and It is because we had it at Whitehall. The landscape is gorgeous and the reception area was big enough to accommodate all 160 guests! The food is also delicious! There are so many different places around the venue that you can take photos or have your ceremony depending on the look you are going for. I wish I could get married again and again at Whitehall because we loved it so much!

Whitehall was the first venue we visited and we knew right away that this was the perfect venue for us. The grounds are gorgeous and the mansion is beautiful, historic and incredibly well-maintained. However, what makes Whitehall an amazing venue is the impeccable service Doug and the rest of the staff provide, both prior to and during the wedding. Before the wedding, Doug was super easy to communicate with and always answered my multiple emails about everything from the menu to the timeline and decorations, patiently and promptly. The staff on the day of was so attentive to everything both us and our guests could need. They put out snacks in the bridal and groom's suite prior to the ceremony and while we were taking our couple portraits, several staff members even checked in several times making sure we had water and snacks, which was much appreciated haha. One of the best parts of the venue though, is probably the food, which was absolutely delicious. We had multiple guests comment after the wedding how good everything was. They truly go above and beyond and are true professionals. We could not recommend Whitehall enough!!

My wife and I were truly pleased with our decision to hold our wedding reception at Whitehall Estate. Not enough good things can be said about Douglas and his staff. They are extremely helpful, accommodating, professional, and are simply great at their jobs. They take care of everything which allows you to sit back and just enjoy the day. We couldn't be happier with our decision and Whitehall has now become the standard we compare every wedding we attend to (Whitehall is still number one!). They even let us travel back to Whitehall on our 1-year anniversary to enjoy the beautiful estate and share a picnic. We can’t wait to go back for more anniversaries in the future!

I am the mother of the bride. We hosted our daughter's wedding at Whitehall Estate. From our first visit there, we knew that this was the perfect venue. The manor and the grounds are absolutely beautiful! This was our third child's wedding, so we have toured a lot of venues. Doug Armstrong was extremely accommodating, flexible and an absolute joy in helping to make this a dream wedding. He does not try to upsell anything and shows you the benefits of providing your own liquor which we did and it saved us a lot of money. The food is absolutely delicious! The staff was also amazing, friendly and very prompt with service, refilling water and clearing dishes. We took our liquor there before the rehearsal along with two corn hole games and we set up the decorations so that we didn't have to stress the day of the wedding. The staff provided the table lanterns and lit the candles for us. There are several very beautiful sites to have your outdoor wedding and for photos. There are also several areas that guests can relax on patios. I can't stress enough how Doug and his staff were helpful, caring and provided our daughter and her fiance with a memorable and gorgeous wedding.
