All throughout our planning process we ran into other individuals who had amazing things to say about their experiences with Whitehall Estate and working with Doug, and now we are going to be some of those people. Throughout the entire process, and this was a COVID wedding so it was a process, Doug had a plan, recommendations, and a kind and reassuring presence for us. Doug was flexible and understanding which allowed us to make the wedding everything we dreamed of and more. On the wedding day, everything went so smoothly thanks to the many Whitehall employees who were helping us. The BBQ buffet was incredible! I could really go on for days about the place that Whitehall has in our hearts, but just know that they have completely earned this 5 star review.

Perfect Part 1 of our Wedding
From the moment we visited Whitehall in June 2019, we knew it was were we wanted to get married. The grounds and building are gorgeous and well-maintained, there is plenty of space for guests, and the onsite catering was an added bonus. We had visited a few venues before Whitehall, but as soon as we started talking with Doug he was so helpful and you can clearly tell he loves what he does. He has great recommendations of vendors and was realistic and honest about costs for budgets.
We had done all of our planning, a delicious tasting, and were getting ready to send out invitations when COVID-19 happened. Doug has been extremely flexible, responsive, and helpful for this stressed out and anxious bride. In the best interest of our families (who are all from out of state), we decided to postpone our large reception to next year. Doug went out of his way to get in touch with our photographer first to make sure she was available on the days we were looking at. I cried tears of joy when I read his email telling me this, it meant so much during this crazy time that he added more work for himself to help me out.
When we did decide on a new date, we were still able to use the grounds this year for our ceremony. We still wanted to get married on our original date and it truly meant the world to us to keep part of our originally planned wedding exactly as we imagined it. Doug made sure that the grounds were ready, we had chairs for our immediate families who were able to attend the ceremony, and gave us access to cool down inside (so helpful on a hot, humid NOVA July day). We are so looking forward to our larger reception next year to celebrate with all of our friends and family. I cannot thank Doug and the entire team at Whitehall for helping us plan the wedding of our dreams – even if it is broken up into two parts a year apart. We cannot wait to continue our celebration next year.

Conveniently a Dream Come True!
My husband and I LOVED our experience with Whitehall! The location is absolutely gorgeous and all of our guests raved about it. Doug Armstrong was always available for help, and the entire staff was friendly and accommodating. He has years of experience and wisdom he shares freely, but listens to unique desires as well. The catering is great, and we received a lot of compliments on the food and ice cream sundae bar. The whole day was a dream come true and the staff took care of things on the day that I wasn't even aware of. Just like every bride wants! (:

Everything we hoped for and more!
Whitehall was the first venue we visited right after our daughter's engagement 1 year ago. As soon as we arrived with our daughter and fiance we all knew this would be our choice: (1) Location and setting: Our wedding was planned for December 2019. Whitehall's setting in Bluemont VA (15 miles west of Leesburg) is extraordinary and a perfect fit for our daughter and fiance who love this area. Even the drive on the rolling hills of route 7 creates a sense of anticipation. As you drive onto the property, which we understand was built in the 1800's, you immediately visualize the amazing photo shots that can be taken and the opportunities for an indoor or outdoor ceremony with grape vineyards, beautiful landscaping and the mansion itself with the Virginia countryside as a backdrop, (2) The Mansion - The inside is spacious yet intimate. Guests are able to explore the other parts of the home with period furniture and decor, bridal party and groomsmen rooms and more amazing spots for photos. This provided great quiet spaces for people to talk and allowed our daughter's 89 year old grandmother to take a break, (3) Friendly, flexible, professional service - When we met Doug we immediately knew he would be easy and flexible to work with. It's always a good indication when you see that the staff have been there for many years. And when we contacted vendors for flowers, DJ, photography, etc., they had all done weddings at Whitehall and worked well together. A big plus with Whitehall is they do their own catering in a massive onsite kitchen. We had heard great things about the food and this was confirmed when we went for a tasting to finalize our selections. They were very accomodating for dietary restrictions. And the overall pricing was an extremely good value with gratuity included (so no hidden costs). Also, they allowed us to provide our own alcohol beverages (many of our guests were non-drinkers), (4) The day of the wedding - As Doug puts it, after the ceremony "the system kicks in". The staff have this nailed down! Thanks to a team effort of a great day-of coordinator (Sabrina Casas- Afterglow), a great DJ (Kirk Rubley) and the Whitehall staff, the entire evening was perfect. The Whitehall staff even built a couple of bonfires ouside for a cigar session. And after the reception was over, the cleanup was done quickly and efficiently, allowing us to get to our afterparty.
We highly recommend Whitehall for your wedding choice!

Perfect venue for the perfect day
Working with Whitehall Estate was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Doug is very responsive and helpful during the planning phase and on the day of. The staff is very efficient, flexible and accommodating. The venue is beautiful and the food amazing!
Below is exactly what I wrote to the event manager at Whitehall and I meant every word of it!
I just wanted to say thank you to you and your staff! Our day was amazing and we are so appreciative for all of the prep and planning that you and your staff did for us. We had so many compliments on the building, the landscape, grounds, etc. The bridal party was ecstatic at their setup in a private room so that they could enjoy cocktail hour as well. Your staff was always one step ahead of us - opening doors, personally delivering Chris and I hors d’oeuvres and drinks, constantly checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. I heard so many compliments about your staff as well. They were well dressed, polite, and helpful. The buffet station flowed smoothly and everyone carving/serving had a smile on their face. I received many compliments on the food, too! One individual "complained" the hors d’oeuvres were too hot - which is a good complaint in my book! The bartenders were quick and efficient and kept everyone’s glass full, which made for a good time! Please give them all our thanks and appreciation for making our day so perfect!

Dream wedding!
Whitehall Estate is a beautiful venue. The service is awesome and they are very flexible. They went above and beyond for us and our vendors. Our wedding was a dream come true and It is because we had it at Whitehall. The landscape is gorgeous and the reception area was big enough to accommodate all 160 guests! The food is also delicious! There are so many different places around the venue that you can take photos or have your ceremony depending on the look you are going for. I wish I could get married again and again at Whitehall because we loved it so much!

Beautiful Venue, Incredible Service!
Whitehall was the first venue we visited and we knew right away that this was the perfect venue for us. The grounds are gorgeous and the mansion is beautiful, historic and incredibly well-maintained. However, what makes Whitehall an amazing venue is the impeccable service Doug and the rest of the staff provide, both prior to and during the wedding. Before the wedding, Doug was super easy to communicate with and always answered my multiple emails about everything from the menu to the timeline and decorations, patiently and promptly. The staff on the day of was so attentive to everything both us and our guests could need. They put out snacks in the bridal and groom's suite prior to the ceremony and while we were taking our couple portraits, several staff members even checked in several times making sure we had water and snacks, which was much appreciated haha. One of the best parts of the venue though, is probably the food, which was absolutely delicious. We had multiple guests comment after the wedding how good everything was. They truly go above and beyond and are true professionals. We could not recommend Whitehall enough!!

Whitehall is simply the best
My wife and I were truly pleased with our decision to hold our wedding reception at Whitehall Estate. Not enough good things can be said about Douglas and his staff. They are extremely helpful, accommodating, professional, and are simply great at their jobs. They take care of everything which allows you to sit back and just enjoy the day. We couldn't be happier with our decision and Whitehall has now become the standard we compare every wedding we attend to (Whitehall is still number one!). They even let us travel back to Whitehall on our 1-year anniversary to enjoy the beautiful estate and share a picnic. We can’t wait to go back for more anniversaries in the future!

Our Daughter's Dream Wedding!
I am the mother of the bride. We hosted our daughter's wedding at Whitehall Estate. From our first visit there, we knew that this was the perfect venue. The manor and the grounds are absolutely beautiful! This was our third child's wedding, so we have toured a lot of venues. Doug Armstrong was extremely accommodating, flexible and an absolute joy in helping to make this a dream wedding. He does not try to upsell anything and shows you the benefits of providing your own liquor which we did and it saved us a lot of money. The food is absolutely delicious! The staff was also amazing, friendly and very prompt with service, refilling water and clearing dishes. We took our liquor there before the rehearsal along with two corn hole games and we set up the decorations so that we didn't have to stress the day of the wedding. The staff provided the table lanterns and lit the candles for us. There are several very beautiful sites to have your outdoor wedding and for photos. There are also several areas that guests can relax on patios. I can't stress enough how Doug and his staff were helpful, caring and provided our daughter and her fiance with a memorable and gorgeous wedding.

Dream come true!
I just got married this past November and it was truly better than I could have ever imagined. I have Douglas and the entire Whitehall team to thank for that. From our first meeting to our wedding day, Douglas was always available to answer questions and help in any way possible. From special menu requests to assistance with unique decor elements (and everything in between), the Whitehall team jumped in to help with a smile on their face. On our wedding day we heard countless feedback from family and friends on what a beautiful venue Whitehall was, how friendly and accommodating the staff was, how wonderful the food was and just how much they were impressed by the entire evening. Great venue!!
Our wedding day at Whitehall was perfect! We immediately fell in love with the venue while looking around and knew it was the place for our special day. Doug was super helpful and responsive. He helped to ease our mind throughout the planning process and made our big day run smoothly. Weeks before our wedding we were still unsure if we wanted it to be outdoors or inside. Doug and his team were able to set up the inside location so that we didn’t have any doubts (and so that it fit our large guest count - 205). The staff works really hard to make the property and venue clean and organized. The food was amazing and we are still getting compliments from friends and family telling us how good both the appetizers and main courses were. Thank you Whitehall for a day we will never forget!

Douglas and his team were an incredible part of our late October wedding. The venue had everything we could have wanted: a beautiful setting, courteous staff, and excellent food (the hors d'oeuvres were especially delightful). Additionally, not only was the food incredible, but they were SO flexible and attentive to food allergies. Douglas and the chefs really went out of their way to accommodate. Several wedding guests, myself included (bride) have food allergies so this was such a relief. We had nasty weather on our wedding day, and the staff seamlessly transferred our wedding ceremony indoors, and it was stunning. It was especially helpful to have so many vendor suggestions from Douglas--I used his suggestions for almost all of my vendor needs and they were all incredibly reliable and professional. If you're having the ceremony on-site, we found that a "day of" coordinator was invaluable, especially for a larger wedding - the event captain Whitehall offers as part of your package is entirely focused on the reception part of the celebration and does not have anything to do with the ceremony.

This was the first venue my fiancé and I looked at and we only had to look at one more to know that Whitehall was where we wanted to get married. The whole venue is beautiful. The staff is so incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout the entire process it really makes wedding planning not as horrible and daunting as it seems:) Douglas and his team are true professionals and know exactly what they're doing and are open to any ideas and will also suggest ideas based on what you're looking for! Winter Wedding Perfection!
Whitehall was a “love at first sight” kind of venue. It’s obviously beautiful, historic, well maintained, etc. etc. What we had no way of knowing at the time was just how perfect the venue would be for our wedding! Doug worked through every detail leading up to the wedding, doing everything he could to accommodate our vision, style, taste, and preferences. And on the big day, we had an event coordinator, Francisco, who did precisely the same thing. Anything we needed that day, he attended to - before and during the event! There are very few things I would’ve adjusted with regards to the wedding, looking back. But not a single one has to do with the venue, the catering, the service we received, or how they hosted the event for us. Unbelievably happy with our decision to have our wedding at such a wonderful place! Thanks to Doug, Francisco, and all the staff that made our day so perfect!!!

Amazing Venue and Staff!
Meagan and I fell in love with Whitehall when we drove by a few years ago after leaving a winery. The grounds are very well maintained and the new addition of a patio/fire pit makes for a perfect socializing area for cocktail hour. But what truly makes this place special is the Staff! Doug operates Whitehall and has done an amazing job of hiring great people to work their events. They were all hard working and went above and beyond in making sure our wedding was a hit. The food was delicious, everyone enjoyed their meals whether they ordered Beef/Chicken/Veggie. The people working behind the Bar were outstanding and made everything from Margaritas/Mai Tais/Bloody Mary’s. They are a well oiled machine here and fully capable of handling minor problems without direction or needing to bother the Bride/Groom. Highly recommend Whitehall as a venue and as a catering service, and can not thank Doug and his Staff enough for making our wedding a perfect day!

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Whitehall Estates. Doug runs a top-notch wedding venue and catering business. His insights into the planning process were extremely helpful and ultimately contributed to the flawless execution of our wedding day. The location is gorgeous, the venue is pristine, his staff is so friendly and professional, and the catering was excellent – we received so many compliments about how wonderful everything tasted! The attention detail and small touches like providing the wedding party snacks and beverages before the ceremony and dedicated wait staff for the head table, truly made us feel like royalty. We could not have asked for a better experience. Kudos to Doug and those working on his team – we will most definitely recommend Whitehall to those looking to get married in the Leesburg / Bluemont area!

I'll start by saying that I initially emailed Douglas for information at about 7:30pm and he emailed me back in about 30 minutes. Douglas is very responsive, a straight shooter, and accommodating to our vision. He and his chef helped us prepare a completely custom menu for our wedding- we are big foodies- and it was amazing!!! Our guests were very complementary of the food. Their waitstaff was also purely incredible- we were offered drinks and food immediately after the ceremony, they served everyone efficiently, and filled water glasses all evening- which is greatly needed when dancing the night away. We had our ceremony outside at the gazebo, which was beautiful, and had a indoor/outdoor cocktail hour. The fire pit was going during the reception and several people went to chill outside. Everything was fantastic and we cannot recommend Whitehall enough.

We chose to get married at Whitehall because it is absolutely stunning, the views are amazing, and the catering is on site! Everyone was raving all night about how amazing the food was and how beautiful the venue was! I couldn't have asked for more! Douglas was very easy to communicate with and work with throughout the planning process. Highly recommend Whitehall for any brides looking to get married and feel completely comfortable in the venue. They even have an upstairs room for the groomsmen and groom and a bridal suite area for the bride and bridesmaids! Loved everything about the venue. On the day of, Francisco was ABSOLUTELY amazing!!! He was so attentive and was paying attention to everything going on around him. We were so thankful to have such an awesome, accomodating staff working there!!

We had the most perfect wedding day imaginable at Whitehall Estate. Our guests have told us repeatedly that this was the best wedding they have ever attended. Douglas and the staff were incredible - the food was delicious, we never saw a line at the bar, and everything was timed perfectly to keep the evening moving along at a fun pace. The staff even made sure that we actually got to taste our hors d'oeuvres and drinks at the cocktail hour. Despite weather challenges (it poured rain), we wouldn't have changed a thing. Douglas kept us informed while making a decision on the weather, and we were so pleased with how it worked out - having the ceremony indoors was beautiful and the breakdown was so quick between ceremony and reception. Our wedding planning process was also completely stress-free from start to finish. Whitehall handles everything - catering, tables, linens, and even did an ice cream sundae bar for us in lieu of wedding cake! We would 100% recommend Whitehall to anyone who is looking for a gorgeous, scenic, relaxed wedding with amazing food and a great party.

Douglas and his team are amazing! The wedding venue is outstanding. Whitehall Estate is surrounded by a beautiful landscape. It is really breathtaking. The reception hall contains these great floor to ceiling windows. Above the dance floor there are hanging twinkle lights. There is a separate but connected room for cutting the cake, the bar area, and where guests enter to grab their table cards. In the main part of the Estate is where the bride and groom get ready on separate floors. The staff were very attentive the whole day, even during the family photos in which they served us cocktails and appetizers. The staff were nice, dressed appropriately, and very friendly. The food was amazing! The dinner choices we selected for our guest to choose from were filet mignon, chicken with a madeira wine sauce, crab cakes, and quinoa with mediterranean vegetables for those that have specific dietary needs. We also had a selection of appetizers. I have an intolerance to MSG so Douglas and the chefs checked all of the ingredients to ensure I wasn't going to get ill. I really appreciated that. There are wonderful vineyards and breweries in the area for your guests to go to. Lots of hotels, house rentals, and B&Bs within 10 to 20 minutes away. We are so grateful for a wonderful day. I cannot say enough good things about Doug and his team at Whitehall! They were some of my favorite vendors from my wedding in October and they made everything so special! The property at Whitehall is exquisitely maintained and has a grand feel to it without being stuffy. The new ballroom where we held our dinner reception has big windows that allow a lot of natural light and keep a romantic atmosphere (as opposed to a claustrophobic ballroom environment you would get from a hotel). We easily fit 150 guests at a mixture of round tables and farm tables and everyone complimented us on the amazing food! We created our own appetizer- a Southern inspired biscuit with a piece of fried chicken and drizzled with honey- but my favorite was the fig and brie tart!
The outdoor space is what sold Whitehall for us- we had an outdoor cocktail hour with fire pits, outdoor games like cornhole, and passed hors d'oeuvres and drinks but they have this old historic caboose where we shot a lot of our group pictures. The setting is bucolic and ideal- we loved being shaded by the giant hickory trees but having the freedom to take pictures by the horse fences and fields all while capturing the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background! We loved that the whole estate is open- our guests explored the historic house and played card games or sat and had actual conversations while others were out on the dance floor in the new addition. It provided a lot of flexibility for our guests!
I also loved that they don't nickel and dime you- a lot of his fees are waived or included in the base price so you won't end up shelling out a lot of money at the end. Whitehall was amazing- from start to finish!

I say this in confidence because my entire experience from first walking onto the spacious grounds to walking down the aisle was an absolute delight. Doug could not have been better with meeting our every need with compassionate and quality service. Doug was always just an email away with any questions no matter how small they might seem and made us feel like we were the only ones who mattered. I could not be happier with our choice to use Whitehall Manor as our wedding venue. The biggest complement from our guests was the food quality. I heard time and time again how the food was the best food they had every had at a wedding. Again, Whilehall checks all the boxes and you will be glad you chose it for your wedding.

Whitehall Estate is a BEAUTIFUL venue! If you like the updated-historic-home look, this is your venue. Both the building and the grounds are great for a wedding in the 100-150 guest range. The house has several 'rooms' which works well for appearing to have multiple event spaces, getting ready before the ceremony, and a quiet place for older guests to relax (if needed). Doug is the event manager and is super proactive, responsive and accommodating. Once we visited Whitehall, we knew we were done shopping for venues. One thing to note that due to the location, hotels are about 20-30 minutes away (so we opted to offer bus transportation for our guests), but there is a lot of parking available at the venue.

We got married here last summer and absolutely loved it. Douglas and Jose were very helpful, accommodating, and just great to work with! We had lots of questions and concerns, particularly about incorporating our Pakistani traditions and menu flavors into the event, and they nailed it. Our guests really loved the venue, enjoyed exploring the different rooms, and complimented the staff on their professionalism. I highly recommend Whitehall Estate!

If you're looking for an amazing all-inclusive wedding venue with an amazing team of caterers and house managers, look no further! Whitehall is amazing, and Douglas (the venue manager and point-person) is so responsive and kind. He is so focused on making sure you have an amazing experience and that every part of your wedding is how you want it to be. He'll do what it takes to make your vision happen, even if that vision is a little unusual. We wanted a brunch wedding that incorporated both mine and my husband's cultures. He worked with us to make sure the menu and drinks reflected our vision. And OMG. The food. The food is SO GOOD. Celebrations Catering, their in-house catering team, really knocked it out of the park with our brunch food. We still have people coming up to us telling us how much they enjoyed the food (Douglas, if you're reading this, pleeeeease share that amazing veggie crêpe recipe! It's to die for!). Anyway, have your wedding at Whitehall. You won't regret it.

We originally choose Whitehall because it was our favorite venue that was pretty all-inclusive (includes catering, mixers for the bar - you bring your own alcohol, linens, silverware, china, wait staff, and set up/tear down help) and also had the best rain plan for our desired outdoor ceremony. But every interaction since then made us love Whitehall even more! The food at the tasting was great, Douglas was INCREDIBLY helpful with our tons of questions and inquiries. He went out of his way to get us quick responses to all our questions, and try as we might, we couldn’t seem to find any question he couldn’t answer. Douglas is a consummate professional and he/his team can tackle anything! We brought in our own wedding arch and they were totally accommodating. And the space is BEAUTIFUL…
Then we got to our wedding day and we were completely BLOWN AWAY. A bridesmaid and a few of our guests are gluten free and so the Whitehall staff CONSTANTLY made sure there was food they could eat all throughout. They really went above and beyond! The staff was amazing and constantly offering help or beverages to guests (bonus points - they took awesome care of the bride and groom when we decided to have dinner early). We had signature cocktails and they had them ready and waiting, on trays for delivery, as soon as the ceremony was over— the wedding party and our guests loved it! Then there was the actual food during the wedding— IT WAS BETTER THAN AT OUR TASTING. People are still raving to me about the food weeks later, and these are people that I know and love for being serious food snobs. Seriously, Whitehall helped make me the most stress-free bride ever. We used a lot of their preferred vendors (they provide recommendations for seemingly every part of the wedding, and their recommended vendors work at Whitehall often) and I loved every single one of them. Everything was so seamless and perfect. I hope to never get married again— but I would return to Whitehall in heartbeat.

This place and its staff is the whole package. From the food to the venue to the staff, everything is just perfect. They are very attentive and accommodating to the guest and especially to the bridal party/ bride and groom. Francisco was fabulous and helped organize everything the day of and the whole catering staff was on point.
There was a small inside window that one of our guests accidentally cracked while getting a little too crazy on the dance floor. The staff took care of it without telling my husband or I (I didn't even find out until the next day when my friend texted me an apology) and they did not charge us either! Douglas was so great to work with in planning the day. It really could not have gone better. Highly recommend!

Whitehall was the perfect place for my July wedding. The trees provide cooling shade for outdoor ceremonies, and the food was to die for. Very professional staff, extremely courteous and attentive. Highly recommend!

We just had our wedding at Whitehall and all our guests were raving about what a great venue it was and how beautiful it was. We chose Whitehall because it had the whole package- good food, great indoor and outdoor space, and most importantly was a private venue. Douglas is great to work with and very responsive. Our guests loved the food and no one went hungry! They only do weddings there and you can tell they know their stuff. Awesome experience and I would highly recommend the venue!

I cannot say enough about Whitehall and how amazing a venue it was! When looking for a venue last year, I saw Whitehall and decided to make an appointment right away. As soon as we got there and saw how stunning it was and spoke with Douglas, who is just amazing, I was set and didn't want to look any further. The venue is beyond picturesque and fortunately we had great weather, but even if you don't, their reception hall can double into a ceremony hall and it's beautiful. The food is outstanding and the service was impeccable. Douglas is super responsive and there for every question and will get back to you in lightning speed. This place only does weddings so you can be assured that everything there will be just about flawless and it runs like a well-oiled machine. We seriously had the most perfect day, and people couldn't stop commenting on how good the food, venue, staff were at Whitehall. Highly recommend!!

Whitehall Estate was an absolute D R E A M venue for our wedding. Of course, the grounds are spectacular with so many beautiful spots to capture photos but, even beyond that, this place just knows how to do weddings. I was really able to take off my wedding planning hat and float through the evening with a smile plastered on my face because everything was so perfect. First of all everyone raves about the food because it is SO GOOD - if you want your guests to keep talking about the food at your wedding years from now, choose Whitehall/Celebrations. The chef and his staff are just incredible. The event staff were always catering to mine and my husbands needs. I always had a glass of champagne near me and a plate of food. They were so beyond kind and I want to go back and hug every single person that helped make our day perfect because I am so grateful! If there was any little detail overlooked their team swept into action to fix it and make it perfect. From the first meeting to the last, Douglas was fantastic to work with. His responsiveness to emails and suggestions/ideas was so quick and thoughtful. He surprised me with a few details that I didn't think were possible and I am still over the moon with how he helped my vision come to life. Additionally, he works so well with all of our vendors and I appreciate that so much. Thank you Douglas, and to your amazing team at Whitehall for giving us the day of our dreams. Amazing!! Whitehall was the first place we looked at and we are so happy we went with them! Doug was so amazing to work with. He was quick to respond to all of our emails and requests. He has a way of being able to calm people down. When there was a weather related issue that arose 3 hours before our ceremony, Doug took me outside personally and walked me through all of our options. In terms of food, we got nothing but compliments on the food, especially the appetizers. And the staff were awesome to work with. They were so quick and they did a great job of providing food and drinks to the bridal party immediately after the ceremony. Moreover, it is an absolutely beautiful venue. There are no bad views at Whitehall. Definitely check it out!!

Whitehall Estate was a perfect venue for our New Year's Eve wedding. It was everything that I could have dreamed of and the staff was nothing short of amazing. As the newly wed couple, you do not have time to eat and get drinks, but the staff made sure we got to enjoy the appetizers and drinks just as much as our guests. Although it was cold outside and we were not able to have the beautiful scenery, the indoor space suited our black-tie event. Lastly, I cannot forget the catering. We received compliments throughout the night that the filet was something you would find in a 5-star restaurant.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Whitehall and would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to get married. I would book quick!

Douglas and his team at Whitehall was nothing but excellent. We had a ton of little, specific things and Douglas accommodated them all. His flexibility and planning up to the wedding was impressive, but his entire staff was so friendly and on top of on our actual wedding day. We had numerous guests tell us how friendly the staff was. Before the ceremony, the staff made sure the entire bridal party was taken care of and brought us whatever we needed. If you're looking for a beautiful venue who's staff is easy to work with then look no farther.

Amazing venue with outstanding food and exemplary service. Douglas knows this business like no other and makes the planning process seem effortless. He is very quick to respond to emails and was awesome to work with. His staff is friendly and very efficient and voiced how much like loved working for Douglas. I felt like a queen on the day of the wedding as they delivered champagne and snacks to the bridal suite and made sure we were taking care of all night. The day of our wedding, Whitehall came through for us 100%. There was not a single problem that I am aware of, everything ran smoothly, and the food was even better than at the tasting! The whole room was set up exactly how we planned and we did not even hire a wedding day coordinator. The venue is one of the pricier venues at about $100 a person when it is all said and done, but I would do it all over again. I got the most amazing compliments about the lighting, food and service and you can't beat the scenery. I could not have planned for the day to go any better. Douglas is a fantastic guy and is great to work with! The month before your wedding he is very attentive to every detail and makes sure he has all of his notes to reflect exactly what you want. Douglas was unfortunately out of town for our wedding but the communication with our event captain was perfect. Huge thanks to Whitehall!

I had my wedding Sept 16th, and I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about Whitehall Manor. Douglas was amazing to work with!!!! From being responsive to answering all questions and providing suggestions on anything I wasn't sure about. The food for our wedding was a fusion of Italian American and Latin food and it was amazing! We are still getting compliments from our guests. The customer service was exceptional and the staff even helped me out with personalized items more items that I brought in for the event. I had actually forgotten to tell them what to do w/ some of the items and come the night of, everything was set and done to perfection. WH staff truly read my mind! This of course is due to the many years of experience they have doing weddings. I also have to say Francisco, who was in charge of making sure everything was going according to plan was exceptional!!! His customer service together w/ all Whitehall staff exceeded my expectations tenfold!!
Take it one an OCD Project Manager bride, now wife; if you want a stress free wedding day, Whitehall is the only way to go!!!

The venue is absolutely gorgeous, and it was the perfect wedding day for the ceremony and reception! The staff is incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive... and the servers were so well-dressed for our wedding reception. I've had nothing but wonderful feedback from all of the wedding guests on the venue and the staff. Some are even now planning to have their own wedding there! Douglas was so quick to respond and answer all questions thoroughly throughout our entire wedding planning process, and offered great feedback. He was very flexible to accommodate all of our special requests, and worked with us to ensure that we had the perfect day, staying within our budget. Several things we had that other venues wouldn't allow were rose petals, candles, sparklers, and we were able to provide our own alcohol for the bar. If you decide to choose Whitehall for your special day, I recommend sticking to their list of preferred vendors if possible. I went with a cake vendor that wasn't on the list and that is my only regret from my wedding day. If you're looking for a wedding cake baker, absolutely avoid Edibles Incredible (Reston, VA).

USE THIS VENUE. Or at the very east visit here first when looking at venues. The gentleman who does all the coordination with you is FANTASTIC. It was the first place we went and we fell in love immediately, but he told us he would hold our date and told us to go look at other places to be sure Whitehall was what we wanted. He gave us tips on where to look for extra costs and the tricks people tried to pull to get more money out of us. And there were a number of places we looked at after that did try to hide things like that tables and chairs were an extra charge. The one thing some people might not care for is that they have in house catering, and I know a lot of places that means an exorbitant amount of money for generally not great food. That is not the case here their food was cheaper by plate than most of the catering places we looked at, had more food on a plate than all of them, and was fantastic. We got compliments on the food and more than one request for contact information so that they could use the catering which can be done off venue as well. The people were polite, helpful, made sure that my wedding ran smoothly, and we got married on their lawn of four leaf clovers . I can not speak any higher of them, and can only recommend that you look at Sundays when you plan your wedding because depending on the vender they can give you a hefty discount (we save a total of about 6-7,000 dollars) since most people want to get married on Saturday.

Whitehall was an amazing place to get married! The cost of the venue for ceremony and reception was very reasonable and a good deal for all you get. The staff there is wonderful! On our wedding day they made sure everything was set out and perfect before guests came. They continued to check in on us throughout the day and even had a tray of drinks and water waiting for us and our bridal party as soon as we had walked back down the aisle! Douglas is a pleasure to work with and keeps brides and grooms informed with a checklist of "to-do's" leading up to the wedding. The food from Celebrations Catering is fantastic! Our guests couldn't stop saying how yummy everything was. The grounds are beautiful! There are so many places to get good pictures. One of my favorites was out by the old train caboose. We cannot say enough good things about Whitehall!

As a planner I have seen venues run the gamut between barely functioning to top notch. Whitehall manor, Douglas, Francisco and their team are the perfect example of everything a wedding venue should be!
First, starting with the beautiful manor house with all of it's historic, yet classically and beautifully done features is a fantastically lovely and comforting space for the bridal party and guests alike. Several rooms are available for either side of the wedding party to get ready on the day of that are well appointed with plenty of AC on a hot day, comfortable places to rest and the staff has delicious food prepared so they can enjoy and relax.
The grounds are meticulously maintained and are absolutely stunning for an outdoor ceremony or cocktail hour. Tucked into the rolling hills of Bluemont, it is an ideal location for anyone looking to getaway but still be close to civilization!
The staff is really what makes Bluemont the incredible place that it is. With most of the staff members being there for several years and Francisco, the lead on everything being there for 20 years you are certain to be in capable hands! I've experienced brides signing on to a venue only to find their venue coordinator left later that year and they were dumped with a new one! This isn't something that you have to worry about at Whitehall! They have a system that is so efficient it puts all other systems to shame, even Chik-Fil-As famous assembly line service can't touch what Francisco and his team manage to do.
Overall, I think Whitehall is an ideal venue for anyone looking to get married, come for the beautiful architecture and book for the incredible service!

We got married this past April at Whitehall and had the most amazing experience. My husband and I were instantly drawn to Whitehall for its historic charm, delicious food, and turn-key approach! During our first meeting with Doug we were able to set a date 8 months away that fit our needs and budget. Because we chose a Sunday we were given more flexibility and a selected the date we wanted in the Spring. Doug was very responsive and organized. He was willing to meet and talk at a moment's notice. He answered every question thoroughly and provided plenty of information and documents for review. The day of our wedding was so beautiful - the team at Whitehall made sure we always had drinks and appetizers. Francisco was incredible and made us feel like royalty. I can't recommend Whitehall enough! Such a beautiful place, great photo locations, incredible food and service.

There isn't enough to say about this place, and I'm sure I'll just be echoing the other reviews.. this place is amazing. It's gorgeous and the pics you get here are amazing. Douglas is wonderful to work with - so attentive and helpful with all aspects of planning. We amazingly found an opening less 6 months away and decided to take a chance on planning very quickly. I don't think we could have managed this anywhere else! Douglas helped so much with advice, keeping us on track, and some wonderful vendor recommendations. He was able to accommodate any wacky request we might have - including my complicated signature drink. The day was perfect - despite almost having rain, which Douglas gave his expert opinion on and was right that we would be ok for the ceremony outside! There's always a plan B and maybe a C too. :) The staff was so wonderful.. everything was perfect. People kept telling me how amazing everything was. And the food.. while I barely ate personally (typical), the guests were raving about it. Even weeks later, a guest told me how the filet was the best they ever had. There's also just an air of sophistication you get here.. even down to pouring all beers into a nice pilsner glass. So many nice touches that made the day that much more special. Being able to bring our own alcohol was key as well - as opposed to wineries where I assume you have to use their wine. If you want a beautiful, rustic, charming, country wedding, this is your place. And as they do so much for you, it is reduces a lot of the stress as well.

When we were looking for venues in Northern Virginia, we wanted to get a good feeling that we can trust the people who we would be working with. We met Douglas and it was a perfect match. He and his team were accommodating and attentive from day one. His catering company provided excellent food that our guests loved. He made a suggestion for using up lighting which made a huge difference in the setting. Douglas responded to our questions and requests promptly. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the time we were preparing for the wedding. On the day of the wedding, Francisco, the catering captain, and the rest of the team were very attentive and on point. We never had to ask for a drink or food, it was already available. Whitehall Estate was the perfect venue! The grounds are beautiful with several outdoor ceremony options. The manor house is wonderful for the reception and even acts as a pretty indoor ceremony option if it rains. You're required to use their in-house catering and linens, but the food was delicious and is cooked on site. You can also provide your own alcohol. The property owner, Douglas, was great to work with. He offers a tasting day where you can sample their food to help you make menu decisions. The staff at Whitehall was also excellent. A TV was recently added on the wall near the dance floor for any couples that want to show a slideshow. Overall, we had a great experience with Whitehall and would recommend it to other couples looking to get married in Northern VA!

We held our ceremony and reception here this past weekend. I cannot say enough about how amazing the Whitehall staff is. We ended up moving our ceremony inside at the last minute and they the reception hall set up in a matter of minutes. They run like a well oiled machine. Our guests could not say enough about their food and service. Douglas is amazing to work with and always responded to our emails and questions (of which there were plenty). Our photographer loved all of the beautiful scenery for portraits. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue.

Whitehall Estate delivered the perfect wedding for my daughter and son-in-law! The food was excellent, the staff was excellent and very accommodating. Douglass was amazing to work with. He sometimes had to deal with the bride and mother of the bride and even sometimes both of us at the same time. We made several changes along the way and Douglass was able to handle all requests efficiently. He was very communicative throughout the process. We received many complements from the guests on how beautiful the estate is and how lovely the setting was. A true gem and a pleasure to work with.

We had a lovely experience planning and having our wedding at Whitehall. Douglas was such a pleasure to work with, and was always responsive and we set up several meetings and had a great rapport. Day of, everyone on-site was accommodating and responsive and made everything VERY easy for a busy and obsessive-compulsive bride. The venue is absolutely beautiful - they were even flexible enough to deal with our request to have our ceremony indoors, but then open cocktail hour and photographs to the outdoors also. We had a lot of Chinese cultural elements laced into our wedding, and Whitehall was also very receptive and provided us with the ability to decorate and plan in specific cultural details to the schedule. The guests loved the decor, the atmosphere, the food, and the venue. Something of note was that we expected to feel more stress and require more contingencies day of (especially since we didn't have a wedding planner and it was largely myself and my mom trying to DIY)... but they really took care of us and everything was fantastic. We HIGHLY recommend Whitehall to others.

The reception for our son and daughter in law's wedding was held at Whitehall. It could not have been a more perfect evening. The food was outstanding, the servers were so polite and efficient and the venue was an exceptional place, both for the reception as well as for the pictures. Doug was a pleasure to work with. We could not have been happier. We would highly recommend Whitehall Estate for your special event.

We were married here in late August 2015. Every aspect of our day was perfect. We were married in front of the gorgeous house with the beautiful landscape behind us.
The staff executed our every request perfectly, almost without us even noticing that they were there. Weeks later our guest are still raving about how it was one of the most incredible meals they have ever had at a wedding. It was repeatedly stated that the venue did not have a cook, but a gourmet chef.
Douglas was amazing to work with; he gave us great recommendations for venders. Any time we e-mailed him with questions he responded within an hour. He made the planning process enjoyable and so smooth.
Whitehall Manor far exceeded all of our expectations and made our wedding day absolutely perfect. We highly recommend holding your wedding at Whitehall!

Wow! My fiancé and I have greatly enjoyed the entire process with Douglas. He has been so supportive and knowledgeable through the entire process. In the beginning, it seemed weird discussing wedding plans with a male, but he blows everyone else out of the water. My business-minded fiancé deeply enjoyed his knowledge since he not only understood the decorative side of the business, but also the financial part as well. We picked his brain several time with help on vendors and decorative aspects and he always gave us advice with affordability in mind.

While I'm still waiting for my wedding, which is about a month away at this point, I still wanted to write a review for Whitehall Manor. They've really impressed me so far and as far as I'm aware have yet to disappoint. It was quite funny that I had never heard of Whitehall before until I came to check it out over a year ago, but since I booked the location I've heard nothing but good things from friends and family who've all attended weddings there.
Whitehall Manor has throwing a wedding down to a science and they make it such an easy process to coordinate the venue and catering. All the food we've tasted thus far has been absolutely amazing as it's both hot and fresh. Most weddings there is always the problem of the food often being cold or bland due to the high volume. Whitehall working with it's onsite caterer, Celebrations, has no problem with that. All of the food is made and prepared there.
Another plus with Whitehall is that it is one of the few places with available indoor space for the reception especially when my guest list was numbering around 150-200 guests. Most historic sites don't have that option available or their options are only for small weddings and I had no desire for a tented reception in the middle of summer. This is one bride who is determined not to melt on my wedding. So when we found Whitehall with it's beautiful views, house, and air conditioned reception hall I was sold.
If you haven't had a chance to do so I would check out Whitehall Manor and see what they can do for you!

We had a wonderful experience at Whitehall manor. Douglas was great to work with, super responsive and helpful. The food, décor, service, and venue space were flawless. We wanted an outdoor service before the reception, and the forecast was scattered thunderstorms, which is hard to plan for, but they were capable of last minute shift from outside to inside which was important to us. Ultimately the weather was perfect and I can hardly put into words how sublimely beautiful it was with the mountains in the background and lovely grounds. It required very little additional décor because of the natural beauty. Highly recommend and wish I could do it all over again!

I love Whitehall and am a little sad that now that our wedding has passed I don't have any excuses to make the trip back to the venue. Doug was a pleasure to work with from Day 1. He was very responsive and friendly and I knew once we booked the venue that we were in great hands. During the ceremony, everything was set up as I requested and Francisco did an awesome job taking care of us and working with our DJ to make sure the timeline was as planned. His staff even made plates for us from the buffet so we could spend more time mingling with guests. Whitehall is such a beautiful venue that you need very little outside decorations so we were able to save money on flowers & reception decor. The food was great too! It was much better than when we had our tasting there and everyone gave us positive feedback on it. You can also BYOB which saved us thousands of dollars and lucky for us we even had some leftover to take home. If I had it to do all over again I would chose Whitehall again!

My husband and I found Whitehall Manor through an internet search and decided to check it out. We fell in love with the venue and owner - Douglas! Right away we knew we had to get married at Whitehall Manor! Douglas was so helpful with getting us all set, from our contract to catering (with Celebrations, the onsite caterer) and everything in between. He was up front with pricing, so we knew there wasn't any hidden costs! Douglas worked with us and our wedding planner to make our day so special.
We had a complimentary tasting at the venue to try the different food options in hopes to narrow down our menu. We loved everything! We joked that it didn't matter what was for dinner because everything was so delicious! We ended up going with a plated meal, choice of fillet mignon or golden roast chicken, sides of roasted fingerling potatoes and grilled balsamic vegetables! Yum!!
On wedding day, we were allowed on site in the afternoon, I was in the bridal suite while my husband was in the groom's room. The wait staff brought us drinks and snacks throughout the day. Once it was time to start the ceremony, it was beautiful! We got married outside at the gazebo and had beautiful weather! (Luckily, Whitehall has a Plan B Option incase of bad weather!) Then during the cocktail hour, the bridal party and our family took photos with us. The wait staff was so awesome! They brought drinks and food around to everyone taking care of all of us!
During the reception, everything went perfectly! The food was delicious and hot! (The kitchen is right off the dance floor.) My husband and I were also given a plate of hors d'oeuvres during the meal! They wanted to make sure we had the full experience!
It was perfect and reasonably priced. We recommend Whitehall to everyone!

Douglas is so wonderful to work with. I'm not sure how he stays so calm and collected working with so many brides. He's very responsive on email and he's willing to work with you to make whatever you want to happen, actually happen. He even accommodated our 20 person band. The venue is stunning no matter what time of year you have your wedding. The food is also amazing. Our guests were raving about the appetizers and dinner. All of the staff was very friendly the day of our event. We were so happy we booked our wedding at Whitehall. I can't imagine having had it anywhere else. They take very good care of the grounds as well so all our pictures outside were gorgeous!

I would give Douglas and Whitehall 10 stars if I could. We had to book our venue and venues fairly quickly because we were moving away from the DC area 3 months after we got engaged. During our 15-month engagement, Douglas worked with us virtually for everything we needed. He is super responsive via email and was very flexible and accommodating. I wanted to add twinkle lights under the sky lights above the dance floor. He took it even further by installing outlets in the ceiling and ordering vintage looking hanging lights for our wedding. It was too cold to get married outside, so we did the ceremony inside under the skylights on the dance floor. The string lights really took the look to another level. I was able to come home only one time in between when we booked Whitehall and our wedding. Douglas allowed me to have a private tasting with the chef to pick out all our food because he knew there was no other time I'd be able to do it. When our DJ had to cancel on Thursday night, I called Douglas and he was able to set me up with someone new within 20 minutes. The only critique I would give to Whitehall is that they don't allow anyone in the facility until 3 hours before the event. It would've been a lot more convenient to get ready in the bridal suite, but we made it work off-site. The service staff was very attentive, respectful, and overall superb. Definitely book Whitehall; it's not only one of the best deals in the DC metro area, but you really get a lot of service for your money.

I cannot praise Whitehall enough for how they handle weddings. I signed on with them one year before my wedding, and throughout the whole planning process I was so impressed by their professionalism, organization, and expertise in planning, coordinating, and running weddings.
The main reasons we chose to have our wedding at Whitehall are:
1. The venue is BEAUTIFUL, ROMANTIC, and CLASSIC.
2. I loved that we would have the whole property to ourselves for the whole day, including beautiful rooms for the bridal party and groomsmen to get ready (separately), and we would not be rushed out for another wedding before or after us. There were also many different rooms/coves/balconies/decks where people could go, instead of some of the other venues I went to see that had EVERYTHING in one big room.
3. The bride and groom can decide on THE DAY OF THE WEDDING whether they would like to have the ceremony INSIDE OR OUTSIDE, depending on weather. This was VERY important to me, (and unique!) since I really wanted to be outside for the ceremony but did not want the stress of having to deal with bad weather.
4. The staff (I worked mostly with Doug, but they are all excellent) KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY ARE EXPERTS.
Throughout the year, I had many phone calls with Doug, many of which HE INITIATIED to make sure we were on track with the planning and not forgetting any of the details. He made himself very available and had great tips on selecting vendors (what questions to ask, who to use, etc.), the ‘flow’ of the wedding, and gave great ideas for decorations that he has seen at the MANY weddings they’ve hosted there in the past.
It was such a load off of the planning that they provide the venue, the catering, the staff, bartenders (but not the alcohol, which you can easily buy at wholesale price instead anyway, and not the dessert), linens, and more. Note that the catering (everything included except alcohol and cake) is about $100 per person, which brings the price up q

My husband and I just had our wedding reception at Whitehall Manor last weekend and it was an absolutely amazing experience!! Douglas was very attentive the entire time we worked with him, always answering my emails and phone calls very quickly. I felt like I could always rely on him and I didn't have to stress during the day of our wedding because I knew it would go flawlessly.
The day of staff was amazing to us and our guests! Francisco and his staff constantly checked up on my husband and I to make sure we had drinks and appetizers, even after cocktail hour ended. I've never felt so pampered! Our guests were amazed by the quality of the food and the service by the servers and bartenders. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for their wedding. I cannot thank you enough for your contribution to our joyous event. The venue was beautiful. The staff was amazing. Everything, every detail was carried out better than we could have expected of any venue and staff. Our event at Whitehall Manor was flawless. One of the staff members even caught the porcelain cake topper in midair, with one hand, preventing what could have been a disaster. I would recommend Historic Whitehall Manor to anyone who wants a very detailed wedding and reception to be carried out beautifully inside or out. I can honestly say this was the absolute BEST place for us to have ever chosen to have our wedding. The property is absolutely gorgeous and stole our hearts when we started looking for a wedding venue, nestled in the mountains -- the historic building and beautiful outdoors should be award winning! Whitehall's POC, Mr. Douglas Armstrong is truly a phenomenal human being. He worked with us day, night, over the phone, email, Skype and in person to ensure we had the wedding of our dreams (and within our budget)! Thank you SO much Douglas!!!! EVERYONE at our wedding agreed the staff at Whitehall day of was over-the-top on point - they were polite, helped anywhere they could, immediately made us feel important and above all, neither the groom nor myself were ever without a drink all day. They even went as far as to fix our plate of food for us when the wedding was getting super hectic. Additionally, the food was out of this world. People are STILL talking about it. As soon as I saw this venue online, I knew I had to check it out and work it into my budget. The mansion is FANTASTIC and the surrounding area is GORGEOUS at the least. I loved the private setting and beautiful decor inside. It's very easy to decorate to any theme you have and its so spacious with all the separate rooms on the main level and upstairs it was the best decision I made for my entire wedding. Douglas was amazing the entire planning period and so incredibly responsive to alllllllllllllllllll my emails. He was always welcoming and to the point. After going to so many venues and meeting so many sales people it gets really annoying when they give you the whole pitch and schmoozing. Douglas gave me all the information I needed and had a smile the whole time.
Now on to the food. I am STILL hearing about how amazing all the food was. It was a Korean/Italian wedding so the food was going to be under much speculation and the kitchen staff at Whitehall did not disappoint. Everything was delicious and there was not ONE negative thing I've heard about any of the food. The event captain Francisco was superb along with all the other staff. Everyone was asking my husband and I if we needed anything from water/alcoholic beverage or food. They even saved us some hor douvres because we didn't get a chance to even step foot into our cocktail hour. The landscaping was perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better location and scenery. It was everything I imagined it would be.

My review is very late as we got married last May. We worked very closely with Doug and his staff and they were all fantastic. I can be a picky person and he always remained very patient and accomodating. Any phone call, email, or text I sent he promptly responded and always with a positive response or idea. The location was beautiful, a perfect mix of elegance and country. You feel very special because you have the whole place to yourself without the risk of outside people entering. We lucked out and had beautiful weather but they were ready just in case. He was present the day of our wedding and even stayed until the end to help my parents clean up because our wedding planner didn't. I really struggled in the beginning because I knew I wanted a wedding the country that didn't feel like stereotypical country. I also knew I wanted the reception inside. That is very hard to find in Loudoun County and for it to still be able to be elegant. If you are looking for that perfect mix, you should book them now. Whitehall is the most ideal wedding venue you can ask for. It is beautiful, it is versatile and every single person you deal with is a true professional at what they do. To be helpful, here are some facts that make them truly special:
- They only do wedding, it's in their blood and veins. They only do one wedding a day. It truly feels like having the wedding at your childhood home except it is insanely glamorous.
- Yes, you sign a contract an there are terms and rules set within but as long as you are reasonable, these people will work with you however they can to make your day perfect. Not only that, they're not yes-men either. Because they have so much experience, they will tell you if your suggestion doesn't work. They have an answer to everything.
- The food is incredible, our tasting was one of the best (and biggets meals) we've ever had and the food on the day-of is just as good, if not better.
- It's 24/7 service for the bride, especially the month leading up to the day (THANK YOU DOUG!)
- You don't need a wedding coordinator on the day-of because the captain is so with it that anyone else would just get in the way. If I was thirsty, water was brought to me in 2 seconds, if I was hungry, there was fruit, cheese and snacks immediately, if I was hot the AC was turned up before I know it, when the vendors came, things were set up immediately, when it was time to cut the cake, all the utensils and glasses were set up miraculously, when it was time for the sparklers, lighters were lit, 5 seconds later, there were already people walking around with buckets for disposing the sparklers. If the weather looks a little iffy, they set up the inside and outside chairs (with decoration, everything) in case your guests have to run inside at a moment's notice. All this, and they are pretty much invisible.
- They have great vendor relationships
Just trust them on anything that you are not sure of, they know what they are doing. It was a perfect day!

From our very first visit to Whitehall, my husband and I knew that it was the perfect place to host our wedding reception. Douglas gave us our tour and was so friendly and professional that we were immediately impressed. Throughout our tasting, site visit, planning meetings, and even pre-wedding drop off, he and his staff could not have been more courteous or attentive. He responded to every email in a timely and complete way, no matter how silly the question. He was also incredibly accommodating when my husband and I asked if we could have our engagement photos taken at Whitehall. His recommended vendor list is worth its weight in gold - every vendor selection we made based on that list gave us incredible service and value.
When we arrived at Whitehall after our church wedding, the grounds looked absolutely stunning. Our guests kept asking us how we had found such a perfect location. The manager on staff introduced himself to us at the beginning of the night and was very attentive, even bringing my husband an extra plate of appetizers to our table when he said how much he had liked them. The food was even better than at our group tasting, and the bar service was excellent. At the end of the night, everything was packed incredibly quickly and efficiently. My parents couldn't believe that they even sent us home with boxed up leftovers of the (delicious) food.
Overall, a wonderful venue which deserves every compliment. Our wedding reception was perfect and Whitehall was the perfect place to have it.

Food was delicious and there was plenty of it. We're still getting rave reviews from guests.
Beautiful grounds...simple, elegant--great photo ops for before, during and after, including staircases inside and out, a beautiful swing in the garden, porches, gazebo, old barns--we loved it all!

Whitehall was an amazing place for our wedding. The scenery is gorgeous, inside and out. Despite the rain during on our wedding day, the staff at Whitehall were prepared and knew exactly what to do to set up the ceremony inside...and it turned out beautiful. All of our guests raved about how delicious the food was and how friendly and professional the staff was. Douglas was very efficient and easy to work with. I would recommend this venue to anyone.

The venue was beautiful, everything was clean, and the staff was exemplary. There was never a time throughout the day when DH and I felt neglected. Whenever we entered a room, there was food on a plate, drinks poured, and staff waiting on us hand and foot. Our food came out hot and quickly. Our glasses were always full. The speakers that Douglas provided, as well as the Bluetooth sound situation system functioned beautifully.
Several of our guests remarked on the excellent quality of the food, the cleanliness of the venue, the professionalism of the staff, and the overall warm, welcoming, wonderful ambience that Whitehall provided for us on our special day. In fact, our jeweler who owns Hunt Country Jewelers, located in Purcellville, said that it was the best, most enjoyable, wedding that he had ever been to. And there were several other guests who echoed his remarks. In fact, there was a couple who had their wedding there years ago, who remarked that our wedding may have been better than theirs.
As I reflect on the day, my only regret is that we have only one wedding because if I had to do it again I would without a doubt contract with Whitehall and Douglas.
They even held onto the top tier of the wedding cake that my mom forgot to grab at the end of the night. I picked up two days later, and the kitchen staff had it safely stored out of the way for me.

I can't even begin to say how wonderful it was having our wedding at Whitehall Manor, it would literally take me ALL day! I began working with Douglas 16 months before our wedding and he was there every step of the way for me and down to the very last hr he was there if I had a question or needed to change a small detail. Douglas I can't thank you enough!
Tarek and I had the fairy tale wedding that we had imagined and hoped for. From the moment I entered the manor on our wedding day the staff made me truly feel like a princess and every single staff member catered to our needs from snacks in the bridal party rooms and drinks before hand... Our guests were wowed and we couldn't have been more blessed with the weather as well. We got a lot of compliments of how beautiful the grounds were and that the food was amazing!
I seriously could go on and on but I can't thank you all at Whitehall Manor for being such a huge part of our special day, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

This venue speaks for itself. It is stunning. Classic, historical Southern charm. Beautiful. The event space is perfect, with options for indoor or outdoor ceremonies. The food is incredible - flavorful, cooked perfectly, and lots of options! Also, it is BYOB - which helps save costs and lets yo specialize your menu according to your guests!

My husband and I got married at Whitehall almost 2 years ago and we are still talking about how amazing the place was. From the beginning, everything was laid out for us so we knew exactly how much we would be spending and how things would go in the time leading up to our big day. As our day approached, the weather was not looking promising but I was determined to get married outside. Douglas was there leading up to the actual wedding time with weather sattelite in hand, helping us decide what to do. The staff was extremely flexible, and let us do a short cocktail first, to wait out the rain.. and we made it outside for the ceremony and the sun actually came out. I REALLY appreciated Doug taking the time to help us through that stressful time. I also had a lot of handmade things to get set up and it was all set up in minutes by the staff, exactly how I wanted it. The food was excellent, the service was impeccible... I danced the night away with my family and friends and had a COMPLETELY unfortgettable day. I would love to do it all again and would never have it anywhere else but at Whitehall. I highly reccomend this place to everyone!!

Whitehall Manor was the first place we visited when looking for venues in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area. And it was the venue that we ended up comparing to all other venues we looked at. In the end, Whitehall was the most beautiful countryside setting and we fell in love with it. And because our wedding was in December, the all inclusive pricing ended up being more affordable than the other places that charged separately for everything.
First and foremost, Douglas is amazing. He responded to my e-mails seemingly within minutes of clicking the send button and he was always up for skype and phone calls with us to work out all the details. Since our ceremony was indoors, I had a lot of decorating ideas to make the ceremony space feel special and Douglas was open to help making everything work out how we envisioned it.
We had our tasting in July and were part of one of the large group tastings. The food was incredible and impressed even my hubby (the most important detail of the wedding for him was great food!) On the day-of, the food was just as fabulous as the tasting and the catering staff made sure that the bridal room and groom's suite had sandwiches, drinks, and treats while we were getting ready. The event staff was 100% helpful and professional and there was always someone attending to our sweetheart table making sure that we got to eat and drink.
We had beautiful snow on our wedding day and Whitehall was the perfect backdrop for a gorgeous winter wonderland. I can't imagine having had our wedding anywhere else and we will recommend Whitehall to anyone and everyone!

We absolutely loved having our wedding at Whitehall, and would recommend it to anyone!! Planning a wedding in a short 7 months, we had concerns about finding an available venue in our price range, and were blown away with the quality, beauty, and value we found at Whitehall. Our day was a less traditional Sunday morning ceremony with brunch to follow. The Whitehall staff, including Douglas and the chefs, were incredibly creative and flexible with designing a brunch menu fit to our vision and budget. Douglas was exceedingly professional, responded promptly, and was accommodating to our needs and desires. Although he was not present the day of, the event captain and staff were exceptionally helpful as well. Overall, a magnificent experience we will treasure forever.

Whitehall Manor was absolutely wonderful for our wedding! Everything was perfect! We were slightly disorganized and the staff helped so much make it so we didn't lose our mind! They took everything and made our minds at ease! The staff was absolutely wonderful. They were always there to help with anything and were so flexible with the time everything went because we had late guests to the wedding. They really held everything together. Doug was our wedding planner and he was marvelous! Every question was answered in a timely manor and he was always there for any last minute changes. Everything about Whitehall made our wedding beautiful and wonderful! From the scenery to the staff! I would recommend Whitehall to ANYONE!

My husband and I chose Whitehall Manor based on the dozens of overwhelmingly positive reviews on wedding wire and because the venue and the grounds are just stunning. We also liked that the manor house has several rooms, in addition to the reception room, for guests who wanted a break from the music or had little kids, and that there was enough space to hold the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception inside in case the weather didn't cooperate. Even with all the superlative reviews on wedding wire, the service leading up to the day and on the day of our wedding still managed to exceed our expectations. Douglas was extraordinarily helpful leading up to the wedding, answering our several emails in a timely fashion, and Jose went above and beyond to help us create a menu that incorporated Puerto Rican food. The day of, we were hesitant to have the ceremony outside as it had been raining all morning and the day before, but Douglas encouraged us to do so and it was the best decision we made. The food and service during the reception were excellent, and the day ran smoothly.
And the added bonus is that they allow you to bring in all the alcohol, which is a huge cost savings.

Whitehall Manor was the perfect ceremony and reception venue for our wedding. Having everything in one place made everything so much easier for us and the site was stunning. Doug was a huge help in planning the day. All of his suggestions were greatly appreciated, and he answered the multiple emails I sent quickly and thoroughly, even during the last few weeks when I was emailing him at least every other day. Doug definitely knew what he was doing and made the process so much easier for us.
The day of, the site was beautiful. Although there was a tasting at the site the morning of the wedding, by the time my guests were arriving, the site was spotless and had been transformed. It was also a slightly rainy/cold day, and I was able to decide whether I wanted to have the wedding inside or outside just hours before the ceremony start time.
The fact that the catering is done on site was also great- the staff was able to turn our buffet station around in record time, and having the dishes/tables/chairs/etc on site took a huge amount of stress off of us during the planning process. One less thing to coordinate made all of the difference. The food was also great the day of.
The staff was fantastic- they made sure that my bridesmaids and I received drinks and food while we got ready and while we were taking pictures. They did a great job of making the buffet for 150 guests move smoothly and quickly and they got plates for my husband and I to make sure we ate. They also made sure everything made it out to my parents' car at the end of the night, and although my parents stayed to help, they made sure that they were relaxed and enjoying themselves even after the wedding was over.
I could not have asked for a better wedding site. The site is beautiful and Doug and his staff were professional, prepared for anything that could possibly go wrong, and made sure that the day went off without a hitch so that we could enjoy ourselves.

Whitehall Manor was such a gorgeous venue for my reception. I had looked at a few other similar manor house venues but this one just took the cake. It was professional, grand, and elegant. Not to mention, you can use the in-house catering (Celebrations) which makes a lot of the planning and coordinating much easier because Doug just takes care of it himself. Doug was fantastic, he was quick to respond to emails and phone calls about any sort of detail. All we had to do is drop off everything we had (placecards, guestbook, favors, etc.) and they set up everything! I would definitely recommend Whitehall to anyone, all my guests loved it!

Whitehall Manor was the best venue I could have asked for. The price couldn't be beat and the costs were always given up front. Doug, the main contact, was always responsive during the planning and on the day of. All of the staff were professional and accommodating the helping the other vendors. I felt very special because I was the only one to have my wedding there that day that I could tell. I was able to have access to the venue for a longer time than other venues allowed.
The venue was spectacular and Doug even allowed my request to move the brides room upstairs so the party could get dressed onsite. All of the guests loved the venue (and that the ceremony and reception were at the same place!) One of the best parts about the venue is that we saved money by bringing our own alcohol!

Whitehall was the absolute best location for our wedding - once we toured the site we knew right away! The coordinator at Whitehall is super easy to work with and responds really quickly to emails. They pay attention to the tiniest of details to make sure you get exactly what you want. Their organization makes your planning easy and the one stop shopping is also great. The staff is friendly and very professional, the food is fantastic and the venue speaks for itself. We have only received positive feedback from our guests and I would recommend Whitehall over and over again!

Whitehall Manor is a dream venue. As soon as we saw we did a tour, we knew it was the place for us!
Why it is better than other places:
-The location is beautiful- rolling hills, green grass, huge white house, beautiful porch, big trees. In addition you have choices- do you want to face a gazebo, or an arch, or the green grass?
-They are a full service venue- they provide all the linens, tables, chairs, staff, and catering so you don't have to wrangle so many vendors (yay)! Plus they set up and clean up!
-You can bring your own alcohol, which will save you a bundle!
-The food is equivalent to a fancy restaurant- no lukewarm, underseasoned wedding food for you! They are constantly updating their menu to reflect trends and offer items such as late night snacks and personal touches like chocolate covered strawberries at the end of the meal (we got this). My favorites were the mini beef wellingtons and sweet potato latkes....yum!
-Doug, the person in charge is knowledgeable, experienced, prompt in answering a bride's every question, and most of all works with the bride to ensure that she is getting the wedding exactly as she wants it!
-They have a fabulous rain plan. Surprise! It rained on our wedding day. Doug met me at the door on the day of my wedding with an hourly wedding radar in his hand. He gave me until an hour before the wedding to make the final decision in case the weather changed- how fantastic is that?
-The staff was amazing. Not only were they waiting for me to give them rain time decision, they also set up and tore down everything for us. Before the wedding, they offered us drinks, got a fan for us, and were constantly checking in to make sure everything was ok. During dinner, they served us first so that we could eat and then mingle with family. We gave them two mixed drink recipes that we wanted and they made them onsite for our guests. The cake people forget to provide a box for our top tier so someone at Whitehall wrapped it up for us.

The perfect wedding. The dream wedding. Douglas was the maestro orchestrating the event and Walter and Francisco were brilliant in making the magic happen. If we could give a rating waaay beyond 5 stars we would happily and eagerly do it! Superlatives fall flat in comparison to the actual evening. Beginning with the trays of cold drinks and champagne, hot and cold appetizers delivered to the bride and her attendants as they got ready, to the perfectly timed ceremony, cocktail hour and plated meal, the evening was flawless. People are still calling us to rave about their amazing meal, the attention to details and the impeccable service. Everyone was thrilled with the evening. Douglas, Francisco and Walter - you will always have a place in our hearts for making this day one of the most memorable in our family. Thank you.

WOW! Whitehall Manor was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding. Douglas, Francesco and the entire wait staff provide and outstanding venue along with the food of Celebrations Catering. Our daughter chose Whitehall because of it's natural beauty and history. The staff was exceptionally attentive to the wedding party as they prepared before the wedding. They were always close by to meet any and all of our needs. They set up the ceremony at the Gazebo turning a vacant treed area into a delightful ceremony site. After the ceremony, they quickly came out offering the wedding party some drinks and/or refreshments to freshen them up before taking pictures. While we took pictures, they attended to all the needs of our guests. I did not have to worry about anything. We were able to enjoy our daughter's wedding completely without any concern for our guests. The officiant's car battery died and the videographer's battery died and they readily had the equipment, willingness and availabilty to jump start both of their cars and get them back on the road. Our daughter's wedding was picture perfect thanks to Douglas and his extreme attention to detail. The food was delicious and the presentation was fabulous. This is a fantastic venue for any occasion, it is exceptional. The wait staff goes above and beyond!

When we were looking for venues we were really concerned about finding a place that fit with our personalities but would also make planning the wedding a less stressful experience. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and I'd say most of that credit goes to the staff at Whitehall.
This was the first venue we visited, and I fell completely in love with the grounds the moment we pulled up. We visited four other venues in Maryland and Virginia after Whitehall, but none of them compared to that feeling we got there.
While there are so many amazing things about Whitehall - the grounds, the historic home, the large windows in the reception room, the barns for photos - one of the best things was having a contact there who I felt like I could really trust. Douglas definitely knows how to plan for a great event, and we were very happy selecting vendors from his recommended list. There was never a moment I felt really stressed because I knew I could rely on Douglas and his expertise. Everything was always organized and under control.
Now on to the staff that was there for the actual wedding. The service was way beyond anything we expected! I didn't know that we would have sandwiches and drinks available in the bridal suite while we got ready. Nor did I expect the staff to come out during cocktail hour with drinks and appetizers as we took photos. I was so happy to get a chance to sample everything I knew the guests were enjoying. Once inside, our wine and water glasses were always full, and we felt truly taken care of by the Whitehall staff. Our guests felt the same way.
As for the food, I was pleased with everything that came out. I'll admit that I was not thrilled with the food tasting and my expectations were not that high for the meals afterwards. Thankfully everything was much better on our wedding day and we got many compliments on the selection. Especially the bacon wrapped scallops and crab dip served during cocktail hour.
When looking at venues, it's hard to get over the initial sticker shock. But we think the quality of service at Whitehall and access to such a beautiful venue was worth every single penny.

My daughter's wedding was held at the Manor, and we were hoping for nice weather, but that wasn't the case. Douglas's team had chairs set up, tables moved and the ceremony ready to go in no time at all. Everything was lovely, from the tables settings to the arrangement of tables, etc. The food was fabulous, and the servers and wait staff could not have been more accommodating. I would highly recommend the Whitehall Manor for a wedding, anniversary party or just a wonderful blow-out! Truly exceptional service and we are so glad to have chosen this venue.

We had a beautiful wedding here. Douglas would always respond within 24 hours of my emails, answering any questions I had or clarifying any details. He was flexible and accommodating. On the wedding day, all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My bridesmaids and I received a tray of assorted drinks and cheeses as we prepared for the ceremony. (The groom and groomsmen also received refreshments). We had many compliments from our guests concerning how smoothly the event went as well as how delicious the food was. I cannot wait to see our photos as our wedding photographer had a field day with us and the outdoor scenery. Overall it was a magical time and I highly recommend this venue.

The professionalism, the food, the staff, the accomodations, the venue, the scenery. It was just perfect. Period. From start to finish. The stuck with us throughout the entire year we were engaged, and really gave us the flexibility to have our day exactly how we wanted it. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

It's taken me a while to fully take in how absolutely perfect my wedding was at Whitehall Manor and because of it's staff and owners. I originally wanted to write a really long review (yes longer than this) to express our sentiments regarding the superb experience we had. But then I decided, I will keep it short so all of you read all the important points.
1) I have been to 5 star hotel weddings all my life
2) I'm also a wedding vendor (Sofreh Atelier is the name of my company) and typically work in these high end hotels and venues.
For my own wedding, I envisioned the same service but with the experience of nature and a rustic beautiful setting with all the amenities of a high end venue. At first I was nervous that since it was privately owned, the service or food may not be as good. But having sat down with Doug (the owner) and the head chef, reading the reviews and visiting the manor, my heart told me this is what I was looking for.
In short, the service, treatment, owner and staff at whitehall were better than any high end venue. Doug is always there to answer any and all of your questions and is so accommodating you feel like you are the only one he's dealing with! He is so warm and cares so much about his business and property... each time we visited (and it was many times), he was doing something new to upkeep the property.
Our food tasting went great and they accommodated all our requests to personalize the menu for us. After that, I was so excited and had no doubt our wedding would be phenomenal.
But even then, on our wedding day, the staff, the service, the food went above and beyond what we expected. The staff on that day were so accommodating... they made our day run smooth and it felt magical. There was only one thing to do... smile from within and look at the rolling hills around you and think to yourself "this dream come true" is my wedding!
