Facilities and Capacity
The modern, industrial space in Old Town Alexandria is perfect for special occasions, with its art-filled interior surrounded by one-of-a-kind artwork. It’s all art lovers’ dream and is rich with history. The walls and mushroom-shaped columns remain a neutral white, while new railings combine blue paint and steel. The bright yellow lighting fixtures add to the industrial feel, and the studio doors are painted in playful colors. Everything about the Torpedo Factory Art Center is unique, especially the dramatic two-story atrium surrounded by a balcony and divided by two catwalks. They overlook the main hall, an ideal location for receptions, and can host up to 220 guests. Built in 1918 to manufacture torpedos, like the one displayed on the first floor, the striking three-story building retains its identity in daylight as a former factory with exposed pipes, ductwork, and smokestack.
The unique property is an ideal location for couples hoping to have an experience as unique and romantic as their love. The Torpedo Factory Art Center offers outside vendor recommendations, wireless Internet, and parking with both a shuttle and wheelchair access. It makes for a lovely location for ceremonies, receptions, and rehearsal dinners, with exclusive venue use and accommodations. Setup is between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m., and cleanup is from midnight until 1:00 a.m.
Located along the beautiful waterfront in Old Town Alexandria, the Torpedo Factory Art Center is surrounded by local landmarks and plenty to do, including the Carlyle House Historic Park, the Waterfront Park, the Alexandria Archaeology Museum, and the Old Town Farmers Market. The Potomac River offers stunning views, and couples and guests can take the ferry to National Harbor. Gorgeous hotels are a short walk away from the venue, and the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is less than five miles away, making the romantic affair easily accessible for traveling loved ones.

I couldn't have asked for a better venue in which to be married. It helped us create such a unique environment that represented us. Tara, the events coordinator, was extremely flexible with things we needed for instance we provided our own alcohol so we needed to drop it all off a week prior to the event.Sent on 07/14/2009
I would highly recommend the Torpedo Factory because you can completely tailor your event to what you want.

We got married on 9/15/2018 at the Torpedo Factory and I have to say, this venue blew us away. Being an artist myself, I just absolutely geeked out at having our wedding in an art gallery. My husband loved the factory and industrial feel juxtaposed with the gorgeous lighting and ambiance that transformed the space into a wedding venue.Sent on 10/12/2018
The event coordinator, Shai, was so incredibly responsive and supportive throughout the whole planning process. She was present during our walk through and answered any and all questions we may have had. She was immediately responsive to emails and so incredibly professional in all that she did. When we were deciding on the venue, she even let us stop by to see another wedding setup to help us make our decision.
The Torpedo Factory has tons of space making a wedding of 100 feel very comfortable and evenly spread out. While it is a bit of a different space, I think that brought a unique vibe to our wedding, which we absolutely loved. Having the entire building was so wonderful. The mezzanine upstairs allowed for guests to spread out to watch our first dance from above, which was SO cool. Talk about awesome photo ops! The TFAC is just so incredibly iconic and placed right on the water. Also, sunset photos on the dock were just the icing on the cake during our cocktail hour!
There are so many wedding venues out there that just want to take your money and run. I must say, the Torpedo Factory is not that. They were well worth every penny and even gave us a discount since my full-time gig is at a non-profit. Not a lot of places do that. I highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for an Old Town Alexandria wedding venue.

The Torpedo Factory was initially to serve as our cocktail hour and reception venue. We tented the patio through Sammy’s Rentals for cocktail hour and held the reception indoors. TFAC was wonderful every step of the way. When we needed to postpone our wedding due to personal issues, they went out of their way to make it easy for us. Ultimately, it rained heavily the week before our wedding, so we had to move our ceremony under the tent as well. Shai from TFAC was wonderful to work with and helped us work through the changes. When the wedding at TFAC on Friday night decided that they did not want the tent during their wedding, and we had to move the tent set-up to Saturday afternoon before our wedding that evening, TFAC offered to reimburse us for any fees incurred with the Saturday tent inspection. Everything went very smoothly, and we strongly recommend TFAC.Sent on 07/22/2018

The Torpedo Factory is a fantastic place for a wedding, it's VERY cool and VERY modern-looking. They have their own in-house lighting crew, and I'm always impressed with the way they are able to turn the space into a very striking setting!
Looking for a unique venue? The Torpedo Factory is where it's at! I love this venue because it's in the heart of Old Town Alexandria (convenient to hotels, parking garages, the waterfront, restaurants, etc), is affordable, is HUGE for being a relatively historic property, and best of all is one-of-a-kind. Where else in the DC area will you find an industrial-looking art center? With the lighting package from John Farr, this spot really turns into a beautiful and completely unique space. I guarantee your guests will be talking about for years to come. It beats any hotel ballroom, hands down. Give Tara a call and go check it out! Be sure to look at the photos of the space with lighting...it's a completely different feel than during the day when it's open to the public.
Wonderful venue, some of the best views around!
