The Watergate Complex was designed by Italian architect Luigi Moretti and DC-based landscape architect Boris Timchenko and constructed between 1963 and 1971. This five-building curvilinear riverfront complex encompasses apartments, fountains, terraces, retail stores, the refurbished Watergate Hotel, and the Watergate Event Center. The entire complex was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 21, 2005.
