A historic wedding venue in Tyro, Virginia, Pharsalia prides itself on providing a unique space where couples can craft their own special day. Hosting just one wedding per weekend, couples can guarantee the focus is solely on them. For couples wishing to wed amongst majestic mountain views and lush gardens, Pharsalia is the perfect choice!

Facilities and Capacity
Pharsalia accommodates up to 200 guests and offers five event spaces in which couples may host their ceremony and/or reception.

History
Pharsalia was originally built by Thomas Massie in 1814 as a wedding gift for his son, William Massie. Upon William’s passing in 1862, the Massies lost ownership until 1951 when the establishment was purchased by Perkins and George Flippin, the 4th generation of Massie descendants.

Location
Located on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Pharsalia sits on the shoulder of DePreist Mountain and is nestled between Charlottesville and Lynchburg in the Tye River Valley.

Unforgettable and RAIN does not stop her

Pharsalia is beautiful but Candice is even more amazing. She is the hardest working, most talented, and calming soul of anyone I've ever worked with. Our flowers were amazing and with very little information she created the wedding of my dreams. Rain, literally, did not stop Candice. She rolled with it and far exceeded our expectations. I would recommend Pharsalia with Candice to someone I didn't even like...humor...but in all seriousness you will not regret it.

If my husband and I had simply just booked Pharsalia for the big day without a single other vendor (caterer, tent, etc.) our wedding day would have still been brilliantly perfect. (The grounds look like a storybook garden.) From the drive to this special place, to the place where you say “I do,” Pharsalia is such a gem. Our guests so enjoyed exploring this place and our pictures were stunning. Thank you, Foxie, for sharing your intimately beautiful home with us.

Pharsalia is truly one of the most beautiful places in Virginia! We had such a gorgeous wedding ceremony and reception, all our guests are still talking about how beautiful it was. Foxie was very nice, easy to work with, and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Pharsalia made my dream wedding come true! I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day in a more beautiful setting. Foxy and everyone who worked the event we’re so warm and welcoming. They make you feel at ease. I never thought twice if I had any questions because someone was always there to answer them.

Foxie, the owner at Pharsalia is God's gift from Heaven! When I was looking at venues for my wedding, I had a hard time picking out the perfect spot, until I met Foxie & she told me about all what Pharsalia has to offer. I couldn't ask for a more beautiful & fun place to marry my best friend!

We had to come to Pharsalia at the very last minute after somebody else fell through...but thank God they fell through because Pharsalia made so many beautiful arrangements, they were easy to work with, the results were truly wonderful, and they were willing and able to work within our budget and time constraints.

Pharsalia is the most dreamy and beautiful venue! The old historic home is absolutely stunning and was such an magical place for a bride and her bridesmaids to get ready. The house and grounds provided a TON of places for amazing photos, and also perfect spots for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The grounds have ample space for all of these activities, including bathrooms that are handy to the event. I personally love all of the stunning gardens and landscaping on the property, not to mention the back drop of mountains and orchards. Working with Foxie was a breeze and so was coordinating all of the necessary rentals etc. Foxie has a helpful list of vendors who know the venue and that she has worked with before. We chose pretty much all of our vendors from her list and they were all wonderful! My friends and I also bought bulk flowers from Foxie and we assembled our own bouquets in her flower shed the day before my wedding which was super fun! (I only recommend making your own if you or your friends have flower experience--and one of my friends did!)

Overall, Pharsalia was a dream venue and I highly recommend it!!!

We are so happy we chose to have our wedding at Pharsalia. From start to finish, it was the perfect venue. It has absolutely gorgeous views of the blue ridge mountains, and the house itself has such character and charm. Foxie (the owner) was a joy to work with. She also did all of our flowers which was a huge advantage because they were stunning and was one less vendor we needed to coordinate with. I would highly recommend Pharsalia for anyone interested in having a picture-perfect dream wedding, and working with some of the sweetest people throughout the entire planning process.

What a lovely venue for a wedding! Beautiful, beautiful mountains for a backdrop. Lovely gardens and a plantation home that takes you back in time. Foxie Morgan, mistress of the "Plantation home" is a gardener extraordinaire. She will make sure that you have plenty of flowers for your wedding bouquet AND she will make her industrial kitchen available for your caterer. I officiated at a wedding at Pharsalia and I can tell you that Foxie and her staff believe in Southern Hospitality. Check it out.
