Big Spring Farm is a barn and farm wedding venue located in Lexington, Virginia. Boasting a charmingly restored post and beam barn, acres of grounds, and ample scenic views of a lake and mountains, it is suitable for both indoor and outdoor celebrations.

Facilities and Capacity

For your romantic ceremony, you and your significant other can become official newlyweds outdoors with Big Spring Farm's beautiful surroundings as your backdrop. Under the shade of one of the lakeside trees, you can become officially married with the serene waterfront directly behind you. On the grass, the wedding party can take in the moment, seated on some lovely dark-wood chairs, as tree stumps with flower displays on them add natural color and fragrance.

All around, the site’s grounds provide a great deal of room for you and your guests to amble around and enjoy the scenery. On warm, sunny afternoons, the long grass, tended lawns, and windswept wilderness offers a variety of settings for photo opportunities. Just imagine you and your significant other indulging in some couples portraits with the yellow-green fields and dark-blue 10-acre lake as your backdrop. Wouldn’t that be something special?

With a rustic barn from the 1840s that has been heavily restored, you are provided with an ideal space to host your reception. The space measures some 2,000 square feet and can accommodate 150 seated guests. Here, long banquet-style and round tables can be arranged for everyone to sit at as they enjoy the cuisine of the day. When set with floral centerpieces, elegant plates, cutlery, and personal decor, it can truly become a customized space. The exposed wooden beams, natural light through the windows, and overall rustic ambiance, certainly make it stand out.

The barn can also work as a great place to host your indoor ceremony. Especially on days when the weather is not being cooperative, it provides shelter and makes it easier to transition to the reception space.

Outside the barn, there is a 4,000-square-foot patio with a fire pit, seating, and tiki torches. An ideal place to lounge in the sunshine, it’s easy to imagine yourself taking a moment of quiet contemplation here.

Big Spring Farm's staff are more than delighted for you to invite caterers onsite to prepare and serve your reception meal. In fact, they have a list of trusted caterers whom they can suggest to you. They also have a list of other vendors (florists, photographers, event rentals, calligraphers, and more) whom they can connect you with. Cleanup and setup services are both provided for you, while WiFi is also available to make use of. What’s more, lighting for both inside the barn and outside can be provided.
