Perfect Wedding Weekend
We just had our wedding at Lakewood Estate, and it was everything we dreamed it would be. We don’t love catering halls or traditional wedding venues, and wanted a place that felt special—and like home—for our family to gather for an entire wedding weekend. While an all inclusive wedding package at a catering hall does make planning a lot easier, it wasn’t the vibe we were looking for.
After meticulously researching practically every venue in the Hudson Valley, we found Lakewood Estate, and everything—from the massive house (8 bedrooms, tons of bathrooms for our immediate families/cousins/bridesmaids/aunts/uncles to stay the entire weekend), to the adorable cottage and beautiful grounds—was perfect for the family reunion/wedding we were imagining. It’s also in a great location if you have family in the New York metropolitan area!
The owner of the venue, Greta, is as much a gem as the property is. The minute we met her, we knew we were going to have our wedding at her estate. She’s supportive, and like us, values family, hospitality, aesthetics, and the importance of all the little details. She directed us to vendors she trusted, and we found great people to work with locally in the Westchester area.
I (the bride) am a very Type A planner, and dumped all the little details I had in my head on Greta in a crazy detailed itinerary/logistics document…and watched as she ran around on my wedding day and in the days before, making sure everything was perfect.
There is some assembly required for a wedding at Lakewood—you’ll need to rent not just a tent, but flatware, linens, decor, a restroom trailer, etc. But if you don’t mind making all those decisions, or hiring a planner to help you, you’ll be rewarded with an incredible wedding.
We put family photos on the Steinway in the living room, had an incredible rehearsal dinner under our wedding tent on Friday night with a wood fired pizza truck, a Chinese tea ceremony in the house, the most picturesque wedding ceremony between the two old growth trees overlooking the lake, and to cap it off, the perfect wedding brunch underneath those trees on Sunday morning (lovingly prepared by Greta). Luckily, we had a team of cousins and family to help us move tables and chairs, clean up, and make it all happen. The whole weekend, there was a revolving door of family and friends coming and going, and it truly felt like we were all at home, but also in a very special place that felt like an escape from reality.
Even the inevitable mishaps were handled, and I never felt stressed on my wedding day. (Which, knowing me, is an incredible feat on Greta’s part).
We booked right before Covid, and were so worried that we wouldn’t be able to have the wedding we wanted. We ended up downsizing from 130 guests to 75, and required vaccines to attend, and despite all the stress of the past year—with planning a wedding on top of it—my now husband and I feel so lucky to have gotten the wedding we did. It was perfect.Sent on 06/08/2021

Magical Hudson Valley Wedding Venue
Lakewood Estate was the perfect magical venue for our wedding weekend. We loved the gorgeous expansive property, mansion to lodge our bridal party, and cozy honeymoon cottage to house us. Every inch of the property was a great photo opportunity. We were able to use the property the whole weekend for our Friday welcome BBQ, Saturday ceremony/reception, after-party in the mansion and cottage, and Sunday brunch. Greta was indispensable to our wedding planning- she connected us to quality vendors and advised us at every step for an ENTIRE year. On the weekend of, she worked so hard to make sure all guests were comfortable and happy. So many details we hadn't thought of, she addressed. Thank you Greta and thank you for sharing LWE to make our dream wedding come true!! HIGHLY recommendSent on 10/04/2019

The best day of our lives!
From my first conversation with Greta, I knew we were in great hands. We had our intimate ceremony and dinner for 24 guests at Lakewood Estate, and during our first chat, I could truly tell that she cared about the details of this special day. She went above and beyond and anticipated details that we didn't think of to insure our day was flawless. We even went up to Lakewood Estate 2 months prior to our wedding and planted herbs and spinach to be served at dinner! The grounds are straight out of a fairytale and the bed and breakfast was so charming (Greta cooks a delicious breakfast by the way). We got married under these beautiful big trees on a hill overlooking the lake and had dinner under the stars. Every single person that attended said it was the most intimate and perfect wedding they had ever been to. Seriously the best day of our lives, and we couldn't have done it without Greta. We are even planning our honeymoon/family reunion next year :) Thank you, thank you, thank you, Lakewood Estates!Sent on 09/13/2019
