The Thayer Hotel at West Point

As an Army veteran and football season ticketholder, I've been coming to West Point for many years. So when it was time for my fiance and I to start planning our wedding, we knew that it had to be at the Thayer.

From the minute we started the planning process, we knew that we made the right choice. All the staff involved in making our day special were amazing.

From Melissa our sales manager, Chef Chris, Talia and Tiffany our Maitre D's, to our awesome bartender Daphne they made our day perfect.

The hotel itself is iconic and full of history and heritage, it made the perfect setting for a wedding celebration. It's castle like appearance with commanding and breathtaking views made for an absolutely stunning backdrop. The ability to take photos at Trophy Point, the cadet chapel and south dock train station made it an even better experience.

The cocktail hour was amazing, and Talia ensured that we had enough to eat in the privacy of an ensuite area while we decompressed from the ceremony before joining our guests for our reception.

The food was top notch and perfectly prepared, a testament to the Chef and his skilled team. The event spaces were set up to perfection and the wait staff and other bartenders were skilled, and efficient.

The after party at Zulu on the rooftop was the finishing touch on our perfect day.

If you're looking for the fairytale wedding location, definitely don't hesitate to checkout the Thayer.

I HIGHLY recommend The Thayer. If you seek first class service, attention to detail & want to leave your guests speechless this is the place for you. I planned our wedding in less than 90 days & with the grace of Melissa G. & on “game day” support Aaron F… our wedding was SPECTACULAR!!! 

We had an incredible experience at The Thayer Hotel for our wedding day. It checked all of our boxes! There is not enough to be said about being able to have your rehearsal dinner, welcome drinks, ceremony, reception, after party, farewell brunch, and room block in the same place if you choose! Hosting many of these events on site made the planning process so much easier and I feel that all of our guests, especially out of town guests, appreciated the ease of that. The views from every event room were unbeatable. The food was excellent and consisted of many choices for the cocktail hour, the meal itself, farewell station, etc. The entire team was great. Aaron was our Maître d’ and he was the best! He was on it all day/night and made sure we had an incredible experience. Other members of the staff, such as Daphne, made sure we had everything we could need or want from as early as 6 am when we started getting ready to the end of the after party. Casey and Heather were also great during the planning process and very responsive. For example, Heather moved the bridal party to a different room to get ready with better lighting, more space, and great views. We are so grateful for everyone who made our wedding possible. Even with less than ideal weather, we never felt like there was a single hiccup throughout the day. We are so happy with our experience and our wedding weekend was perfect.

We absolutely loved celebrating our wedding at the historic Thayer Hotel. The venue is beautiful, full of character and charm, and provided the perfect backdrop for such a special day. From the moment we began planning to the end of our wedding day, the experience exceeded our expectations.

Kyleigh was an absolute pleasure and joy to work with. She was professional, organized, incredibly helpful, and always communicated promptly. Her guidance and attention to detail made the planning process feel smooth and stress-free, and we always felt confident knowing everything was in such capable hands.

The maître d' provided by The Thayer Hotel was exceptional. The level of service was truly top-notch, and every detail was handled with care and professionalism throughout the day. We felt so well taken care of, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy every moment with our family and friends.

Our wedding at The Historic Thayer Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way: truly the best day of our lives. It was magical and perfect. We had multiple guests tell us that this was the best wedding, with the best food, that they had ever attended. All of our servers and bartenders were incredible, everyone attending to our wedding made it feel like we were the only event happening on West Point. Our maitre d’ (Talia) could not have been more thoughtful, kind, and attentive: every detail that we had shared with Casey was executed with precision.

We had our wedding at the Cadet Chapel and arranged for our guests (who opted into it) to take a West Point Tour between the ceremony and the reception, and then dropped them back to the hotel.

Our Cocktail hour was on the back lawn, the Pershing Patio, and in the Pershing Room. The Thayer Hotel’s Banquet Team ensured that our custom made signage (we provided the stands as well) were put in locations that helped direct our guests, and the setup of the cocktail hour with The Hotel's beautiful gold champagne shelf next to our seating chart, was a fabulous way to ensure that our guests could quickly grab some champagne while looking at the chart.

Our Reception was in the Washington Ballroom, and with the gorgeous sweeping view of the river, indoor-outdoor access, we felt like we were in a fairytale wedding surrounded by our friends, family, and a team of wedding professionals who truly cared about us and our guests. We made it a whole wedding weekend, the Rehearsal Dinner was scheduled to be on Zulu Time (it rained out, so it was moved inside to a rain back-up location), we had a bridal breakfast in the Eisenhower Bridal Suite as the bridesmaids got ready, while our guests enjoyed breakfast on their own in MacArthur’s Riverview Restaurant, and then even after the wedding, our guests continued the party at Zulu Time. We were able to directly link our private hotel room block to our wedding website, and could manage and track the reservations with our special login.

From the event coordination, room reservations, to valet, check-in, to housekeeping, several incredible culinary experiences over the weekend, and the most attentive day-of wedding professionals, our wedding, and wedding weekend, was perfect. Our wedding was a dream come true at The Thayer Hotel. Our wedding was made extra special by these amazing humans who cared about our wedding like it was for one of their own family members: Casey, Talia, Alison, Jennifer, Marie, Diane, Juliette, Jamal, Victor, Chris, Samantha, Daphne, Jeff, Dan, Victor the bartender, Rosa, Chris, Ginoh, Anne and Erin. 

The Thayer hotel was the perfect venue for our 20th year wedding anniversary vow re-dedication. The setting was a serene, pristine location overlooking the Hudson river creating the perfect backdrop for a romantic entanglement. The staff were absolutely amazing, professional, and highly knowledgeable. Kyleigh the venue wedding coordinator, and Aaron our Maître D made sure everything went according to what we had envisioned and planned making our wedding a day to remember. Our guests had a great and enjoyable time, and expressed how picture perfect everything turned out from the ceremony, to the reception, the ballroom, and the most succulent steak they ever had. This was an unforgettable experience, It went even better than I ever expected. Thank you for making my day so special.

We honestly don't even know where to begin. Our experience with The Thayer at West Point was simply amazing. From the initial visiting of the venue, to our booking, food tasting, organization, and obviously how beautiful and organized the day of our wedding was. Casey Butler was absolutely fantastic. She was our primary contact throughout our year process. She helped make sure all the information we were giving out was being received and passed on to the venue. The days leading up to our wedding was obviously stressful, and as we got closer, she assigned us our maitre'd, Aaron. Aaron was also amazing. He spoke with us a couple weeks before the wedding to ease our stress, and he stayed in constant contact with us leading up to our big weekend. From arriving at the venue, making sure our rehearsal, and rehearsal dinner was properly organized, to the morning and night of our wedding, he made sure everything was taken care of. He was in non-stop communication with both of us the day of, and continued to check in with us throughout our night, giving us everything we needed. We had gotten wedding pictures done at trophy point on base, and he even drove us, and escorted us on base with no issues at all. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a beautiful and amazing wedding. We truly felt cared for like we were their own family. Thank you so much again to Casey and Aaron for helping our dream day come true!!

We could not have been happier with our wedding experience at the Thayer Hotel. From start to finish, everything was handled with professionalism, care, and incredible attention to detail. Melissa, our Catering Manager, was absolutely outstanding — extremely conscientious, highly organized, and an exceptional communicator throughout the entire process. She made what could have been a stressful experience – especially since we were out of state - feel seamless and enjoyable.

The Thayer itself is a truly beautiful and historic venue, and it created the perfect backdrop for our wedding weekend. The service was wonderful across the board, and the food exceeded expectations for both us and our guests.

One of the things we appreciated most was how flawlessly the Thayer team coordinated with all of our outside vendors, including transportation buses, gift bag delivery, the band, and photography. Everything ran smoothly because of their careful planning and execution.

We are so grateful to Melissa and the entire Thayer team for helping create such a memorable and special celebration. We would highly recommend the Thayer Hotel to anyone looking for an exceptional wedding venue.

We felt that the Thayer was a great venue for our wedding, and we couldn’t have had a better experience start to finish. The wedding expo’s that they offer were a big help in giving us a better idea of what to expect going forward. From picking the right room within the Thayer for our ceremony, to the menu tasting, we really felt that the Thayer did a great job. Staff on the day of were attentive, and made our wedding day as smooth as possible!

We had our wedding at the Thayer in April 2026, and it was an incredibly seamless process from start to finish. Heather was our coordinator at the venue, and she was so warm and helpful. We had multiple phone check-ins along the way, and she always made sure to clarify any details with me based on the information I provided to ensure they had everything how we wanted. 
When it came to the wedding weekend, Aaron was assigned as our maître d’ and we cannot say enough great things about him! Even guests and family members were commenting on how wonderful he was. From the moment we arrived for the rehearsal dinner, he made us feel so well taken care of and his calm sense of confidence really helped us to relax and enjoy ourselves. The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch; the food was delicious and the servers were very attentive. Everyone says something is bound to go wrong on your wedding day, but thanks to the staff - especially Aaron and Heather - we really had the perfect day with no issues. If I had to go back and do it all again, I would choose them!
