For cocktail receptions, couples will have access to the Perishing Room as well as a seasonally tented patio. Fairy tale setting in the Hudson
From the minute we started the planning process, we knew that we made the right choice. All the staff involved in making our day special were amazing.
From Melissa our sales manager, Chef Chris, Talia and Tiffany our Maitre D's, to our awesome bartender Daphne they made our day perfect.
The hotel itself is iconic and full of history and heritage, it made the perfect setting for a wedding celebration. It's castle like appearance with commanding and breathtaking views made for an absolutely stunning backdrop. The ability to take photos at Trophy Point, the cadet chapel and south dock train station made it an even better experience.
The cocktail hour was amazing, and Talia ensured that we had enough to eat in the privacy of an ensuite area while we decompressed from the ceremony before joining our guests for our reception.
The food was top notch and perfectly prepared, a testament to the Chef and his skilled team. The event spaces were set up to perfection and the wait staff and other bartenders were skilled, and efficient.
The after party at Zulu on the rooftop was the finishing touch on our perfect day.

Our September 2025 Wedding at The Thayer Hotel
The food was SO GOOD, and the drinks were delicious and strong! When we went around the reception from table to table literally all our guests’ plates were licked clean.
The professionalism of the venue staff was also excellent, specifically our day of coordinated/Matre D, Talia, and our event planner who helped us with legit every detail leading up the rehearsal dinner & wedding, Melissa. Everything went smoothly the day of, but even if a hiccup arose, Talia handled it with ease. She even came into the hospitality suite to help me with my bustle when no one else could figure it out! Without Melissa and Talia, and the rest of the wonderful staff, the day would not have been as perfect as it was.
The waiters, bartenders, front desk agents, bell boys, etc. really took care of us and our guests. Our guests were raving about how kind and helpful everyone was the whole weekend and continue to tell us that it was the best wedding they have ever attended!
The quality of service and value is really prominent at The Thayer Hotel. I felt like they really cared about my husband and I at every point of the planning process and day – they really took great care of us. The packages they offer are great since you can have a ceremony, reception, and after party onsite, plus have a room block. Our guests and us loved that everything was in one place – it was very convenient and efficient. Overall, we would recommend this venue to anyone who wants to get married in the Hudson Valley and is looking for a beautiful venue with breathtaking views, excellent food/drinks, and white glove service.
Incredible Venue
On top of the gorgeous setting, the food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We had so many compliments from guests saying it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had.
We also want to give a special shoutout to Casey and Aaron, who went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of. Their attentiveness, calmness, and genuine care for our day did not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything they did to make the experience seamless and unforgettable.
If you’re looking for a venue that combines gorgeous scenery, outstanding service, amazing food, and a team that truly cares, Thayer is the place. We are so happy we chose it and would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Piping is my profession. I've played bagpipes for many events at The Thater over the years. It's well catered, beautifully stuated overlooking the Hudson River. It's a part of American history being located in the USMA at West Pount, NY, where many world leaders have resided. A Beautiful and Historic setting for your Wedding.
The Thayer Hotel is a very nicely furnished and well presented hotel. The staff extremely helpful and any couples desiring to have a wonderfully and beautifully presented and expertly handled event you need to book your event with them... Kudos to management and staff!
