As an Army veteran and football season ticketholder, I've been coming to West Point for many years. So when it was time for my fiance and I to start planning our wedding, we knew that it had to be at the Thayer.
From the minute we started the planning process, we knew that we made the right choice. All the staff involved in making our day special were amazing.
From Melissa our sales manager, Chef Chris, Talia and Tiffany our Maitre D's, to our awesome bartender Daphne they made our day perfect.
The hotel itself is iconic and full of history and heritage, it made the perfect setting for a wedding celebration. It's castle like appearance with commanding and breathtaking views made for an absolutely stunning backdrop. The ability to take photos at Trophy Point, the cadet chapel and south dock train station made it an even better experience.
The cocktail hour was amazing, and Talia ensured that we had enough to eat in the privacy of an ensuite area while we decompressed from the ceremony before joining our guests for our reception.
The food was top notch and perfectly prepared, a testament to the Chef and his skilled team. The event spaces were set up to perfection and the wait staff and other bartenders were skilled, and efficient.
The after party at Zulu on the rooftop was the finishing touch on our perfect day.

We could not have been happier with our wedding experience at the Thayer Hotel. From start to finish, everything was handled with professionalism, care, and incredible attention to detail. Melissa, our Catering Manager, was absolutely outstanding — extremely conscientious, highly organized, and an exceptional communicator throughout the entire process. She made what could have been a stressful experience – especially since we were out of state - feel seamless and enjoyable.
The Thayer itself is a truly beautiful and historic venue, and it created the perfect backdrop for our wedding weekend. The service was wonderful across the board, and the food exceeded expectations for both us and our guests.
One of the things we appreciated most was how flawlessly the Thayer team coordinated with all of our outside vendors, including transportation buses, gift bag delivery, the band, and photography. Everything ran smoothly because of their careful planning and execution.

We had our wedding at the Thayer in April 2026, and it was an incredibly seamless process from start to finish. Heather was our coordinator at the venue, and she was so warm and helpful. We had multiple phone check-ins along the way, and she always made sure to clarify any details with me based on the information I provided to ensure they had everything how we wanted.
When it came to the wedding weekend, Aaron was assigned as our maître d’ and we cannot say enough great things about him! Even guests and family members were commenting on how wonderful he was. From the moment we arrived for the rehearsal dinner, he made us feel so well taken care of and his calm sense of confidence really helped us to relax and enjoy ourselves. The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch; the food was delicious and the servers were very attentive. Everyone says something is bound to go wrong on your wedding day, but thanks to the staff - especially Aaron and Heather - we really had the perfect day with no issues. My husband and I picked The Thayer Hotel for it's beautiful location on the Hudson River. We knew we wanted to get married in the fall and wanted an outdoor wedding. The Thayer had the best of both worlds. Catering on premises, day of coordinator so we didn't have to stress, professional staff, and amazing scenic views for our pictures. We cannot thank the staff of the Thayer Hotel for making our wedding special. We've been married for 2 years already and we just recently went back to celebrate our anniversary there. Our daughter's wedding at The Hotel Thayer was, in a word, SPECTACULAR! The hotel is stunningly beautiful, but beyond that, the staff is outstanding. Our wedding coordinator, Heather Osgood, spent months helping us get every detail perfect. She was patient, knowledgeable, supportive, warm and crafted an absolutely flawless wedding experience. Our maitre d', Aaron Falk, was OUTSTANDING from the rehearsal dinner until the end of the after party. Every single detail was under his control, and not only did he not miss a single detail, but he also did it all with humor and grace. The rest of the staff, desk clerks, housekeeping, bellmen, banquet staff, the chef and the kitchen staff were incredibly talented, friendly and helpful. The food was SUPERB! I cannot recommend Hotel Thayer and its staff more strongly. It is unrivaled. My daughter, her husband, and my husband and I thank you all for the time of our lives!

The experience at Thayer was truly captivating and breathtaking!!!! We will never forget the incredible hard work from our Maitre’d Aaron who helped and navigated the day so smooth and stress free. Our September 2025 Wedding at The Thayer Hotel
My husband and I got married at The Thayer Hotel in September 2025 and it was truly a 10/10 experience. The venue itself is stunning, unique, and charming and the views are UNMATCHED! We got married onsite and it was really so gorgeous. Plus, there are so many amazing places on the whole campus to take photos, inside and outside.
The food was SO GOOD, and the drinks were delicious and strong! When we went around the reception from table to table literally all our guests’ plates were licked clean.
The professionalism of the venue staff was also excellent, specifically our day of coordinated/Matre D, Talia, and our event planner who helped us with legit every detail leading up the rehearsal dinner & wedding, Melissa. Everything went smoothly the day of, but even if a hiccup arose, Talia handled it with ease. She even came into the hospitality suite to help me with my bustle when no one else could figure it out! Without Melissa and Talia, and the rest of the wonderful staff, the day would not have been as perfect as it was.
The waiters, bartenders, front desk agents, bell boys, etc. really took care of us and our guests. Our guests were raving about how kind and helpful everyone was the whole weekend and continue to tell us that it was the best wedding they have ever attended!
The quality of service and value is really prominent at The Thayer Hotel. I felt like they really cared about my husband and I at every point of the planning process and day – they really took great care of us. The packages they offer are great since you can have a ceremony, reception, and after party onsite, plus have a room block. Our guests and us loved that everything was in one place – it was very convenient and efficient. Overall, we would recommend this venue to anyone who wants to get married in the Hudson Valley and is looking for a beautiful venue with breathtaking views, excellent food/drinks, and white glove service.The Thayer Hotel at West Point's reply:

We could not have imagined a more perfect venue for our wedding than Thayer. From start to finish, the team was professional, kind, and incredibly attentive. The space itself is stunning and provided the most beautiful backdrop for both our ceremony and reception; our guests are still talking about it!
On top of the gorgeous setting, the food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We had so many compliments from guests saying it was the best wedding meal they’ve ever had.
We also want to give a special shoutout to Casey and Aaron, who went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of. Their attentiveness, calmness, and genuine care for our day did not go unnoticed, and we are so grateful for everything they did to make the experience seamless and unforgettable.

The Thayer Hotel
Nothing but pure professionalism! From the wait staff to the front desk to anyone working in that hotel who didn’t even have a role in our wedding weekend, we were met with nothing but kindness, warm greetings, and assistance even when we didn’t ask. The grounds are beautiful, and the hotel is charming! My husband and I had such an amazing weekend! Huge, HUGE credit especially to Aaron our Maitre d, who solved problems we didn’t even know we had. When our backdrop for our sweetheart table wasn’t able to be built like planned, he went out of his way and reconstructed it to work. He, along with the team, set up all of my DIY centerpieces better than I could have imagined, and when he realized I didn’t have enough signature drink signs printed, he printed more and found gorgeous gold frames to display them in. There wasn’t a single problem that was brought to mine or my husband’s attention until it was resolved thank to Aaron and his caring, professional work. This allowed for us to have a stress free of a wedding as possible! I wouldn’t have wanted to get married anywhere else, and our wedding reception wouldn’t have been as amazing as it was without Aaron or the Thayer! 5 Stars!! Beautiful Venue!
We worked with Melissa (ended up being my Thayer planner as well) and couldn’t recommend more. Melissa was great to work with and answered every question I had. We no longer live in NY, so Melissa setup a virtual walk through of the venue which helped us make our decision. They will set your VIPs up as visitors to West Point so you can take photos at Trophy Point if desired. This saved us so much time/stress on day of. Talia was our Maitre’D and she sure everything went according to the plan on the day of.

My wedding at the Thayer was an absolute dream; my family is still talking about it. I have been planning my wedding day for almost two years and Jessica, the Venue Coordinator, was nothing short of perfection. The communication, kindness, and patience she has is unparalleled. She was always willing to answer my questions or concerns in a timely manner with a smile, consideration, and respect. I felt incredibly grateful to have had the privilege of working with her to plan my day. Our tasting dinner with both parents was incredible, our family still talks about it too. Food for a wedding was a point of contention, I was not willing to settle for mediocre, and Chef Chris did not disappoint. He was extremely accommodating for all allergies and diets and made us feel safe and comfortable in the variety of foods available. The staff and hotel on the day of my wedding were as professional as they come. The warmth I felt from their positive energy, and how thoughtful they were delivering service to my guests was well worth it. I had the privilege of working with Diana as my Maitre D’. She is such a breath of fresh air in all the decision fatigue and stress the day of a wedding. I was able to trust her judgement, she was so respectful to all guests, family, myself and my husband. Her communication and professionalism is top tier and I truly felt so relieved knowing my vision would be executed through her. She was there for my scheduled breakfast the day after helping me gather all my belongings and chatting with my family. The valet were so helpful and sweet, the rooms were spotless, and all my guests loved walking around admiring the history and architecture. The Zulu rooftop bar was also such a hit!! It was so good knowing that after my event all my guests would be safe and could still party up there if they wanted. The view is absolutely killer, nothing beats being outdoors in the mountains over looking the Hudson River. Our wedding weekend at The Thayer Hotel was perfect! From the start of our planning process all the way until the end, we enjoyed working with the Thayer and our coordinator Jessica. They checked all of our boxes as far as having enough rooms for our out of town guests, space for our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after party, and day after breakfast. We were so happy to be able to have all of the events in one space so that no one had to travel throughout the weekend and we did not have to provide transportation. During the planning process the communication with Jessica was open and clear and she was able to meet all of our needs. She even went above and beyond what we were expecting in order to truly make it our dream wedding. Even though it unfortunately rained on the wedding day, the Thayer staff were quick in their contingency planning and moved the ceremony into an indoor space that turned out beautiful. Having the after party at the Zulu rooftop was also a big hit. The guest rooms, venue spaces, food, staff, and hotel grounds were all exceptional. Our guests still have not stopped raving about the entire weekend and we are so happy that we had our wedding at The Thayer!The Thayer Hotel at West Point's reply:

The Thayer is THE PLACE to get married. The staff was completely wonderful from planning to days after. The venue is just beautiful, the service from every employee is top notch, and the packages are completely reasonable for everything you get. Special shout out to Krista, Marie, Gino, Chris and Aaron who were extremely kind and who went over and beyond to make our day everything we could ask for. Everyone, literally everyone, who came to our wedding have only good things to say. Zero drama. Zero issues. Literally from finding a magical crochet hook to accommodating a Filipino food station they made magic happen. These people made a profound impact that my (now) husband and I will never forget. The entire staff at the Thayer were incredible. From changing to our rain plan, to changing the room it was in, to the food, staff- it was all amazing. The Maitre'd, Amy, was INCREDIBLE, as was our coordinator, Marie. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. The brunch was beautiful and better than what we envisioned. I would recommend them to anyone!
On an additional note, the pricing was very affordable- more so than less established venues. For a place that hosts Presidents and Generals, the Thayer exceeded our expectations in every way!The Thayer Hotel at West Point's reply:

Wow. Where do I begin? Chelsea Allen and the Thayer Hotel are more than amazing and we can’t thank them enough for hosting our guests, setting up a beautiful rehearsal dinner and breakfast for our wedding. Chelsea answered all questions and concerns and was the sweetest person to work with and we cannot recommend this hotel enough!! October is amazing in the Hudson valley and Thayer gives all the vibes with the views of the Hudson, the fall foliage and the cozy lobby.
Everyone I came into contact with at Thayer was professional and helpful. Chelsea specifically was phenomenal. She was very attentive and did not leave a stone unturned.

We had the pleasure of having our wedding ceremony and reception at the Thayer recently. We cannot express how wonderful the experience was! Everyone from Krista in sales, who helped us choose the type of reception we wanted, to Hayle, our on-site coordinator who was the best show-runner we could have hoped for, to the bartenders at our celebrations and the valets (Thank you, Phil!) who made getting in and out seamless and easy.... They were all just as helpful, friendly, professional, and cheerful as could be.
The rooms were immaculate and luxurious. Everywhere you looked, there was another gorgeous view! The bridal suite was perfect for not only getting ready, but for our pre-wedding ceremony of signing our wedding ketubah and was spacious enough to accommodate our entire family.
We cannot say enough good things about Chef Chris and his entire staff! I am celiac, and he went above and beyond to ensure that we could have the champagne brunch reception of our dreams, right down to the gluten-free waffles. We don't have room here to express all the compliments that we got from our guests regarding the quality, presentation and variety of our celebration feast.
Having a dedicated maître d' for our reception was indispensable and we didn’t even know that until Amy and her colleagues granted every request just as it was asked. Amy introduced herself to the principals in our wedding party, saw to their every need, and made sure that everything was exactly as we had wanted for our big day. She was so friendly and accommodating and made us feel like we were the number one priority for the entire hotel and staff.
It was an absolutely welcome surprise to come to our bridal suite after the reception to find a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to cap off the most perfect day we could have imagined. (Pro tip: Chocolate covered strawberries also make a gorgeous breakfast!)
We will heartily be recommending The Historic Thayer Hotel to all of our friends and family, and we can't wait to be able to visit again!

Our dream wedding took place at the Thayer Hotel this past week and we are still in disbelief. The rooms, the FOOD, the ambiance and the STAFF are just incredible. We were so well taken care of by Carly, Casey, Daphne, Chris (head chef) and the flawless team. After postponing our big day due to the pandemic, my now husband and I were out to reimagine our wedding day with safety protocols in mind. The staff at the Thayer Hotel was up for the challenge and we could not have been happier with the outcome.
With buffet style food out the window, Nicole the Catering Sales Manager, worked diligently in creating a menu for cocktail hour that lend itself to be pre-packaged. She also showed us various space options that would accommodate social distancing. Not to mention her enthusiasm since day 1!
Brianne was the event planner and she was amazing in planning the big things like floor plan and timeline to the smaller details like reservations for lunch the day after. She went above and beyond to make sure we were ok. Lastly, Chelsea was the maitre d'. Her sweet and caring self took care of us all through out the event. For our once in a lifetime day, the Thayer Hotel went above and beyond to provide the best wedding venue imaginable. From the little details of making sure our family members were treated with special care, to the big ones of doing everything possible to have our ceremony take place outside amid rainy conditions, the Thayer did everything possible to make us happy. Our ceremony was beautiful along the Hudson river, and the convenience of having the hotel & reception in the same place was perfect. Even the ability to hold an after-party at the rooftop bar is an added bonus that takes care of any thought of what to do after the reception ends. Our team at the Thayer were flexible, and had us as their number one priority throughout the weekend from the moment we arrived. We had an incredible experience at the Thayer Hotel for our wedding. They worked with our budget, were extremely flexible in cutting things and adding things last minute and even coordinated for a bus transfer the DAY OF for our rehearsal dinner on West Point proper. We had our wedding in the Washington Ballrom and our ceremony in the Grant Ballroom- both were incredibly beautiful. Our coordinator for the weekend, Brianna was extremely attentive and helpful ensuring everything was done properly. She was calm the entire wedding weekend even when we felt a bit overwhelmed. The overall wedding coordinator, also named Brianna, was also extremely helpful and worked with us the entire planning process from when we booked to coordinating our tastings, an after party etc. The staff that weekend was attentive and congratulatory and treated us amazingly. We absolutely loved the Thayer and will have only happy memories after working with them! -

Sarah Sent on 05/20/2014I am so pleased to have had my wedding at The Thayer Hotel - everything was absolutely gorgeous and completely stress-free. Stacey Jones is the BEST! I can't say enough great things about her professionalism, organization, promptness, and attention to detail. We had our rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, and morning-after brunch at the hotel (our wedding was at the Catholic chapel) and the food was amazing for all three meals. The staff was attentive and accommodating all weekend, and everything went so smoothly - from checking guests into rooms, valet parking, transportation to the wedding ceremony, and handing out our welcome bags. We had a fairly large wedding (about 150 guests) and booked 54 total rooms, so I was shocked that there wasn't at least one hitch throughout the weekend! Not to mention we got married on Mother's Day weekend, which is a busy time for the hotel as they are known for their Mother's Day brunch. My friends and family cannot stop talking about the location - The Thayer Hotel is the perfect mix of scenic, historic, classic and romantic. With such an exceptional staff, it was simply a quintessential wedding venue. -

I was an out of state bride in California and was so happy with her extreme professionalism and helpfulness to all my questions and to keeping track of all details needed to make the wedding ceremony and reception go absolutely smooth. Everything was in place as we had discussed, and she helped direct things at the rehearsal and even morning of the wedding to make the wedding go off perfectly. She's very pleasant and easy to work with. I am so grateful to have had a person like her to make sure my wedding day went as planned. And as far as The Thayer Hotel, it was absolutely a perfect venue. The outdoor ceremony had such a fantastic view of the Hudson River. The reception also had a gorgeous view overlooking the river. The food was fantastic. My guests mentioned how the cocktail hour food was good, and very plentiful, and the reception had delicious food. I was also happy with the cake vendor that they use, and I also was very happy with the DJ on their list of recommended vendors (Tom Destry). I used an outside vendor for the florist (Angel Wedding Works) and they were great. I rented an arch from them which they decorated beautifully, and with the stunning view of the Hudson River as a backdrop, you can't beat this utterly amazing setting. We loved our whole day and couldn't have been happier with The Thayer Hotel. -

Lexi and Amy truly created the stage for the memories that we will have for a lifetime. They went above and beyond our every request they made us feel like we were their only concern ( while handling 7 other weddings the same weekend). Our bridal suite was just amazing, the food was wonderful, everything was just seamless and we couldn't have ask for more. If you are considering a venue don't hesitate to choose The Thayer. You can put your mind at eases even when planning from several states away they will create your dream come true.
I also would highly recommend the Salon on the Hudson located at The Thayer they did a beautiful job on my hair the day of the wedding.

Kelli Sent on 05/02/2018The Thayer Hotel was the most magical place to have our wedding! It really was just the most beautiful venue. When booking Elizabeth was so great and helpful. We were able to switch things around to work within our budget. We worked with both Gina & Nicole as our planners who were also wonderful. The transition from switching planners was seamless. Before the wedding we picked out our cake in Peekskill and also had our food tasting. We were able to bring four guests and the food/chef was outstanding!
On the day of the wedding everything went so perfectly. It was beyond my expectations. We got ready in the Presidential Suite (highly recommend - lots of space). We had breakfast ordered to the girls and guys rooms (small issue with guys breakfast coming late but it was fixed). We had a First Look out on the Washington Lawn which was breathtaking. As far as the reception, Brianna the maitre de really was so phenomenal! Everything ran so smoothly. The room was set up perfectly as we had discussed, the food was delicious. It was just a dream!! All of the guests loved the historic hotel as well. It was so great for our wedding to be part of an entire weekend - we had breakfast also the next day which was delicious.
I am truly grateful for the Thayer for my perfect day! I cannot thank them enough <3 -

We started with happy hour that included an indoor room and a covered outdoor area, in addition to the manicured lawn. Our guests loved being able to walk near the water. The passed appetizers and carving station were very well received, and we had guests surprised there was still a full dinner after all the appetizers. Stacey was amazing, and made sure everything was exactly as we wished.
Dinner was better than at the tasting. We had salmon and chicken options, and both were very well received.
The only negative at all was that the ballroom got very, very warm when everyone was up and dancing. Fortunately we had the outdoor space, but it was still hot. Also, I would not suggest more than 200 guests in the large ballroom for a seated dinner - we had about 170 and that seemed full to me.

We had Aaron as our day-of coordinator, and he was absolutely great to work with! He was always very quick to respond throughout the process, which gave us so much peace of mind leading up to the wedding day.
On the day itself, Aaron did an amazing job making sure all of the behind-the-scenes chaos flowed smoothly and seamlessly. From keeping everything on schedule to handling details without ever bringing stress to us, he truly helped make our wedding day feel effortless and perfect.

The Most Beautiful Day
My husband and I are both from the Hudson Valley. We have both worked hundreds of weddings, being in the Food & beverage industry as long as we were. After looking at several locations in the area, we were feeling really underwhelmed. Everything that we liked, we couldn't afford, anything that we could afford looked like it smelled, old and musky.
My father, a naval academy graduate, took us to West Point all of the time for our necessities, and we had brunch at the Thayer from time to time. It has been a part of my life for a long time. That is when I decided, lets go to the bridal show, see what its all about.
After that, we took the information and realized we absolutely could make this work! I printed out the Football schedule and the Academic Schedule, crossed off any available dates that coincided with major campus events (trust me, its important you do this!). We nailed down June 7th, 2019. With less than 1 year from contract to wedding, the team was great. They always responded back within a day to my numerous questions.
There was some changing of staff over the course of the planning. My only real *eh* about the whole situation was that our day of coordinator wasn't scheduled until less than a week before the wedding and we could not meet to discuss my needs until the day before the wedding. A few, minor, things were missed (i.e. the toss confetti was put out as "favors", so guests didn't have anything to toss when we left the ceremony.... I can also chalk this up to a fail on my ushers part, since that was his job haha).
Over all, amazing experience. This is really one of the very few places where you can have the beauty of the outdoors while also having the ease of a banquet hall. And you can always return to have a DELICIOUS dinner, stay the night, or explore, because it has been here for years and will continue to be a landmark of the Hudson Valley, and your relationship, for years to come. -
