Historic Events & Banquets is a wedding venue located in Manchester, Connecticut. Situated halfway between the Northeast’s two major cities, New York and Boston, this estate is conveniently accessible while remaining secluded and intimate. The building is part of the Hilliard Mills complex, the first mention of which dates back to 1672, when it was a sawmill. Now a nationally listed historic site, the team works hard to preserve the original character of the property. Boasting industrial-chic architecture, the staff’s mission is to provide an authentic ambiance that is elegant and unforgettable.
Historic Events & Banquets is a grand and spacious event center where you can host a stylish and sophisticated wedding. The Claremont Ballroom features 26-foot-high ceilings, brick walls, stunning custom chandeliers, and a modern white-washed look. This hall can accommodate from 250 to 500 people and is ideal for large affairs with all your friends and family. Exposed beams add to the vintage feel of the space, while state-of-the-art amenities imbue it with a contemporary look and feel. Plenty of parking is available for all your guests and the venue is equipped with a sound system and lighting.

These professionals will consult with you every step of the way to ensure that your event is customized to your tastes and preferences. They believe that you are the most important person at your wedding and will work hard to make you feel like the guest of honor. In pursuit of this, the venue offers all-inclusive packages that come with tables and chairs, linens, glassware, and help with setup and cleanup. They also take care of all beverage needs with a full-service bar that includes premium liquor, house beer, house wine, a champagne toast, and bartenders. Drinks packages are numerous and you can browse the options to find the one that best suits your needs. A list of preferred vendors, who will help you with everything else you need to make your big day perfect, is also available.

Drew M. Angelo
Director of Operations
Drew M. Angelo of Romanian decent, was adopted at the age of three and a half and grew up in the small town of Marlborough, Conn. Mr. Angelo has obtained an Associate’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management and has continued his studies at the School of Business at Central Connecticut State University where he had a concentration in Business and Hotel and Restaurant Management.
Over many years, Mr. Angelo has become a developed entrepreneur and holds over 10 years of experience in the hospitality and consulting industry. Working for worldwide corporations such as Marriott International, Panera Bread, and Goodwin Hospitality Group, has given Mr. Angelo the corporate experience to expand Historic Events & Banquets. He also has experience in private sectors from small restaurant groups to web developers and other small contracted businesses.
Mr. Angelo has a specific passion for event planning such as galas, weddings, retirement parties, and corporate parties. Mr. Angelo was even able to take part in the Governor’s Conference for the last three years and asssisting with planningn the Gubernatorial Inauguration Ball. Mr. Angelo has used his professional expertise of the hospitality industry to develop into this role. Over the last two years, he has been able to considerably expand Historic Events & Banquets.

Director of Events
Olivia Verhaegen discovered her passion for events at a young age. Born and raised in Southeast Mass she volunteered with the State Archery Association of Massachusetts to coordinate local tournaments. This led her to join the USA Olympic Archery Scoring Team to coordinate national tournaments while earning her Bachelor’s degree in Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management from Johnson & Wales University.
With a serving heart, Olivia has been a part of the hospitality industry for nearly 8 years. She began her career planning corporate outings, weddings, and large-scale events throughout New England. While working at an Inn in New Hampshire, Olivia had the opportunity to coordinate several Presidential campaign rallies during the 2016 Presidential Election.
This same location was host to weddings, fundraisers, and local community events. Olivia had the privilege of providing couples with a seamless planning experience for their wedding day. As a member of the community, she worked to ensure all fundraisers and community events were flawless and successful.
Olivia has also worked at a Private Country Club which provided her the opportunity to plan private banquets, fundraisers, and host corporate outings. Her time at the club grew her need to serve as she guided her team to provide exceptional experiences to all club members.In the past few years, her need to serve brought her career to the travel industry. Olivia managed and executed a wide range of international educational group tours. This opportunity allowed her to experience events on a global scale.
Her own wedding and passion for events has led her to join the Historic Mill Events Team. Olivia is looking forward to serving new clients and providing them with memories to last a lifetime.
