Fort Edmonton Park was a beautiful venue for our Steampunk wedding. Both our ceremony and reception took place in the hangar. All our pictures were taken in the park while our guests enjoyed the tours and attractions. Most of our guests dressed to our wedding theme so our pictures were beautiful. The venue has a few restrictions for instance we had to vacate the building before 2am, that included we had to be packed up entirely. We could not set up the night before. Only a handful of caters can be only used at the venue. There are so many different buildings to use as back drops for pictures and there are so many things for your guests to do while waiting in between the ceremony and reception. Your guests get free admission. The staff was very easy to work with, but book early because it is a very popular venue and it actually determined the date of my wedding (and I booked over a year in advance). They also have a hotel in Fort Edmonton, which is nice if you want to also have guests stay on site. Also keep in mind, the max number of capacity is unrealistic. If they say max 600 people capacity. I would say that this could be true, but not necessarily comfortably. Just keep that in mind. I love this venue. They have some awesome seasonal events here too throughout the year.

Fort Edmonton Park is a gorgeous place to get married in. Their catering is amazing. A lot of my guests told me that they were blown away with the quality of the buffet. The food was delicious. The event coordinator was a bit frustrating to deal with because they would tell you one thing and then change what they said later and then change it again. The staff there on the day of the event were amazing and went above and beyond. It was gorgeous all day but started pouring right before the ceremony, and the staff tracked down some umbrellas to borrow to my guests and ran the umbrellas back and forth so that they could pass it on to the next guest. It was a gorgeous place and certainly a unique experience for everyone. It really was worth every penny.

The venue is 5 star, the food was 5 star, the staff the day of were 5 star. That said, dealing with the catering group and getting up to this point was like pulling teeth. Although they were willing to help customize a menu, they were slow to respond and I felt they were very inflexible with any of my 'special' requests. My advice to future brides/grooms is to negotiate, negotiate, negotiate! They will charge for anything and everything possible. Once the headache of the negotiations are over, you will have a fabulous wedding with delicious food and wonderful staff! Also, it would have brought the stress level down about 100 notches if I could have gotten into the venue earlier to decorate and set up and take-down the next day. If they had offered me a last minute weekend rate since there were no other bookings that weekend so I could take my time to set up and take-down then I ABSOLUTELY would have taken it even if it cost me a couple thousand extra! But paying $6000 extra just for set up and take down time wasn't going to happen.
