Big Chill is 13,000 sq ft. and is conveniently located in the beautiful community of Dilworth, only 1.5 miles from uptown Charlotte! The venue offers the flexibility to host both your ceremony & reception for up to 150 guests or a seated reception only for up to 250 guests. Celebrate your love story in the warm inviting atmosphere that our unique and classic vintage style evokes. It’s the perfect setting for your special day and will leave you and your guests with an unforgettable experience.

Facilities and Capacity

Enjoy the warmth and charm of Big Chill by catching up with old & new friends next to the glow of a fire in our Fireside Lounge and Built-in Bar. Dance the night away on our 1,000 sq ft. dance floor or enjoy an energetic performance by your DJ or band on our grand built-in stage! Big Chill offers several other separate areas and rooms where you can find a space for any activity or display! We believe in quality over quantity which is why we only host one event per day and so that our couples get the undivided attention they deserve! Our rental includes the use of the entire venue, therefore, the venue best accommodates groups of 100-300 guests.

Dining & Cocktails

One of the best Big Chill features is our all-inclusive dining packages. No need to outsource caterers, servers, tables, linens, china… Our chefs and team will take care of everything! Your meal is prepared on-site to ensure freshness and a quality presentation. We also offer several flexible bar packages to match any budget. No need for alcohol licenses, permits or insurance. We’ve got you covered! With our talented chefs, bartenders, servers, and experienced planning team, your curated dining experience allows you to be a guest at your own wedding!

History

Part of the vibrance of the venue can be found in its history. From the 40's-70's, the building was known as Cavalaris Village. At this time, the building consisted of a bowling alley, a pool hall, and Charlotte's first roller skating rink; which is where Big Chill sits today! In preserving the spirit and history of this time period, we continue to maintain all original hardwood floors from the skating rink days!

Big Chill has been creating great meals and memories for over two decades! In 1999 we moved in and originated as Charlotte's first and largest Motown/Rhythm and Blues/Classic Jazz supper club, hosting celebrity acts including The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Najee, Lavay Smith, Noel Freidline, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, and John Legend.

Every night our guests’ fine dining experience was coupled with live music, making our venue an energetic, unique asset to the city of Charlotte. Over time, the spaciousness and charm of the venue led to a high demand for private events, transitioning Big Chill into the special events venue we are today. This transition still allows us to do exactly what we love and do best: create good times and great memories to last a lifetime!
