About Baltimore Museum of Industry

Historic. Waterfront. Perfect.

Since 1981, guests at the Baltimore Museum of Industry’s waterfront location have enjoyed a breathtaking view of the Inner Harbor. With spaces both indoors and out, a convenient downtown location, and a free, on-site parking lot, the BMI offers an unrivaled backdrop for weddings.

Inside the historic oyster cannery building, a floor-to-ceiling wall of windows overlooks a beautiful brick terrace and spectacular views of the Inner Harbor. A separate space for cocktail hour affords guests the opportunity to explore galleries filled with local history.

Named after a founder of Black & Decker, the Alonso G. Decker Gallery accommodates 300 guests for a seated event; 250 seated with space for a dance floor and food stations; or 500 for a cocktail reception service. An adjacent brick terrace affords a spectacular view of the Inner Harbor. The Decker Gallery is available from 6:00 pm to midnight.

Our Open-Air Pavilion has an unforgettable waterfront setting, perfect for any event from a casual crab feast to a formal wedding ceremony. The pavilion accommodates 300 seated guests or more for cocktail reception service; additional space is available on the adjoining waterfront point. Clear sides can be lowered during mildly inclement weather. The pavilion is available from 6:00 pm to midnight.

Rentals include 25 tables (60″ rounds each seating 8-10 guests), chairs, a sweetheart table, tables for gifts/favors, a security officer, and did we mention free onsite parking?

We are happy to open our exhibition galleries, including the Machine Shop and Cannery, Garment Loft, or Print Shop, for your guests during the first two hours of your event for an additional fee.

With 10 companies on our Approved Caterers list, finding one that fits every style and budget is easy. Only an Approved Caterer may provide food, alcohol, and non-alcoholic beverage service at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

The BMI celebrates marriage equality and welcomes all couples to consider the museum for their big day.

Join us on Sunday, January 12 from 5pm-7pm for our annual Wedding Open House and find everything you need to plan the perfect event: caterers, DJs, florists, photographers, and more. Picture Perfect

Let's start with the venue itself. My wife and I viewed 3 total locations with the BMI being the last, and let's just say, it was an absolute no-brainer in going with the BMI. It offered such a unique setting that offered so much more than your "traditional" venue. Outside of not having to plan and spend money on decorating the entire venue, it offered an amazing opportunity for bridal party and family pictures. We had a lot of guests ask us how we knew/found out about the venue because they thought it was an awesome location.

While the venue was great, the event manager at BMI, Kelley Edelman, was what made our experience top notch. Kelley was so very responsive from the very beginning, especially when we had questions or needed to make changes as a result of COVID. We also ran into a situation where our venue that we reserved and paid for our rehearsal dinner went out of business due to COVID, and she was willing to accommodate us under their covered pavilion and get us a deal with one of their preferred catering vendors. Kelley was also key in taking a lot of stress off my wife and I the day before and day of the wedding as we were able to drop off all of our decorations, party favors, etc, and she made sure she understood our wants in terms of how we wanted these items staged inside the museum. Upon our arrival to the museum the day of our wedding, we honestly could not have arranged everything any better than Kelley did! It was picture perfect! Because of Kelley, we were able to enjoy our day without any worries. I truly feel like we now can call Kelley a friend and not just our BMI Event Manager.

    We love BMI and Kelley!

We got married at BMI November 23, 2019 and it was simply amazing. Kelley is the ABSOLUTE BEST! She will make you feel at ease- she is so easy to work with and also makes you feel like wedding planning is a piece of cake. We couldn't have been more happy with our wedding and choosing BMI. Everyone who attended our wedding raved about the venue and its uniqueness.
