Amazing venue, phenomenal staff
We had originally booked Gertrude's for our wedding scheduled for June 2020, prior to COVID-19. Ultimately, due to the virus, we did not end up having our ceremony and reception there. However, we wanted to write a review of our experience with them anyway to express how wonderful everyone who worked with us was throughout the process and to offer a full recommendation based on that experience. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and we cannot recommend the food enough -- even after booking the venue, we went back several more times just for a lovely dinner. Throughout the planning stages, Emily was wonderful to work with, and when the shutdowns happened, she was immensely comforting and understanding about the entire situation. She was in constant communication with us, and when we ultimately decided to cancel, was extremely supportive. I cannot recommend the staff at Gertrude's enough.Sent on 11/14/2020

Couldn't have asked for more
Gertrude's itself such a great venue, and big part of the Baltimore food and culture scenes, and the BMA is so fantastic, it couldn't help but make for an incredible place to get married, but Emily, Jay, and the entire team at Gertrude's made the whole experience, from first consideration to closing down at the end of the big day, absolutely wonderful. Emily was crucial in planning and organizing the whole shebang, and things would have been a lot harder and way more stressful without her!Sent on 11/05/2019
The food was outstanding; the chefs were able to make our concept a reality, and Emily helped shape it into something that made a bit more sense on the plate.
If you're not convinced by the beauty of the garden by day, let me tell you, it becomes utterly magical in the moonlight.
All in all, Gertrude's was a perfect venue, and we'd do it again there in a heartbeat. It's an amazing space, and the people are even more so.

Exceeded our high expectations
From start to finish, the people at Gertrude's were a joy to work with. The coordinator, Emily, is always quick to respond, super helpful in answering questions, and will keep things running smoothly on the day of the event. The sculpture garden was the perfect setting for our fall wedding, and dinner was just as good as the food at Gertrude's is every other time we've eaten there (aka it was freaking delicious). Our personal attendant for the night was so sweet and even knew my drink preferences before meeting me! My only hesitation when we booked was that I did not love the look of the dining room and thought the colors/upholstery might be distracting. I could not have been more wrong. In the candlelight, the space was completely transformed. It was a truly beautiful setting for our reception.
One thing to note is that ceremonies at Gertrude's are held over the fountain. Because of the long train on my dress and our preference for a longer/straight aisle, we chose to rent an adjacent space in the sculpture garden from the BMA for our ceremony, and Gertrude's still handled the setup. Perfect!
Basically, Gertrude's is probably the best bang-for-your-buck wedding venue in Baltimore, and definitely offers the best wedding food available. I cannot recommend them enough!Sent on 01/15/2020
