About
Hi there! My approach to photographing your wedding is informed by my passions of street photography and my training as a musician. My eyes and ears guide me to anticipate what might unfold and I hope to reveal the nature of relationships and the emotions felt on your wedding day. I mainly work with small cameras to be as unobtrusive as possible.
For portrait sessions, I minimally direct couples, to capture a sense of spontaneity and show your connection to one another. While I am very fast and decisive when setting up large group portraits, I also keep it loose and fun for everyone. And, everyone who has come together to celebrate your day – that is, all of your guests – are equally important to me photographically.
Light, color and composition are an obsessions, which largely comes from working professionally in a color darkroom, where I learned to paint with light. This becomes especially fun to play with on the dance floor, where you will see me all over the place, until it’s time to go home.
I am based in Brooklyn and New Orleans and also available for destinations worldwide.

April was the absolute perfect choice for our wedding. We had an initial call with her in the early planning stages and immediately knew we would be in the best hands. She not only understood exactly the style we were looking for, but she has been a saint about rescheduling and rolling with the punches as our wedding plans changed multiple times due to COVID. We ended up downsizing our 100+ guest wedding to just us, one set of parents, a cousin (our officiant) and wife. April fit right in with the family and we felt totally at ease with her. She also managed to make us feel not at all awkward about having our photos taken (we're both not fond of the camera...). Extra points for being on top of social distancing and other safety protocols for our intimate ceremony.

My new go-to photographer
Saying that April is a joy to work with is an understatement. She is so genuine and fun to be around and it’s more like shooting with a friend than someone you’ve hired. My husband and I eloped, so I booked her fast and basically at the last second and it was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. April’s prices are fair and booking with her is so easy to do, she’ll help you figure out all of the details and make sure that it’s what is best for you. My husband is not someone who is comfortable in front of a camera, but he was acting like he grew up in front of one with April. She made us both feel SO incredibly comfortable and you can see that in the shots of us that we received. The quality of the photos is PHENOMENAL and she’s great at catching the little moments that you want to cherish forever. I will always consider booking April for pretty much everything from this point on and you should too! You won’t regret it.

So amazing!
We loved working with April so much! From our first conversation with her we could tell that she is so passionate about what she does and she really helped us to capture our day in such a special way. She and her assistant Reuben, made the whole process so seamless and went above and beyond to make sure we got all the shots we wanted - formal photos, action photos, candids, you name it. Our photographs are truly beautiful and we had such an amazing time going through them and reliving such fun memories. April is amazing and we couldn't recommend her more highly!

Tree of Life Wedding Ceremony and Reception (NOLA)
April is the sweetest photographer I’ve ever worked with ! During our wedding week, I came down with a bad cold and she offered to help me with anything I needed (unrelated to photography needs). She constantly checked on me to make sure I was okay leading up to our wedding day. On the day of, April was very optimistic and upbeat at all times; ready to assist in every way possible. She really put me at ease leading up to the moments before the ceremony (I had major nerves). April is not only charismatic, but she follows directions and finds the absolute best shots/angles she possibly can to showcase everyone’s best qualities. She is talented, charming, and a pleasure to be around.
After receiving our photos (in our own online library), my husband and I were stunned. The pictures look like they’re from a magazine spread. I truly can’t believe this was our wedding. I will cherish April’s photos for a lifetime. Signed, a very happy bride (Di’ana)

The best experience I’ve had with a photographer.
April and I talked early on, months before my wedding to discuss what was most to me picture wise. I was very specific about what I wanted and was very non traditional when it came to the typical posed wedding pictures. She was so friendly, very polite, and fit right in with the wedding day commotion. After editing, my wedding pictures are EXACTLY what I wanted and I am still in awe over them. The coloring, the fun, and intimate pictures she captured from my wedding day take my husband and I back every time we look at them. April is my photographer for life simply because she exceeded all my expectations. Next shoot, maturity pictures!

We are so happy April and Galina were a part of our wedding day! From our first phone call, I could tell they were listening and interested in knowing who we are and understating how we see our day. In the day their presence was calm and professional, and they were able to respond to all the last minute details while taking amazing pictures. We are so happy with the results!
