I Will Be Here

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the sun does not appear,
I will be here.

If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
‘Cause I will be here.

I will be here when you feel like being quiet;
When you need to speak your mind, I will listen.
And I will be here when the laughter turns to crying;
Through the winning, losing, and trying, we’ll be together,
‘Cause I will be here.

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the future is unclear,
I will be here.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I will be here.

I will be here, so you can cry on my shoulder;
When the mirror tells us we’re older, I will hold you.
And I will be here to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me;
I will be here.

I will be true to the promise I have made,
To you and to the One who gave you to me.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I, I will be here.
We'll be together and i will be here.

My daughter just got married this last weekend 06/27/09 and this was sung at her wedding when they lit the unity candle. It is just beautiful. What a great promise to each other!

Reney says...
This is wonderful for my sand ceremony. How perfect for after you have said your vows!

Hi...I was planning a wedding back in 2005, but unfortunately, due to family problems too numerous to mention (including my families totally unpleasant / downright rude attitude toward my fiance), he and I decided to elope. In any case, while I was planning the wedding that was never done, I had thought a lot about music, and I always wanted this song to have an important part of the wedding, although I never decided on which part of the wedding I wanted it played, but it definitely had to be in it at some's an absolutely beautiful song, I still cry everytime I hear it (both for opportunities lost and just due to the pure beauty of the song) I strongly encourage anyone interested to strongly consider it...and really listen to the lyrics...sooo beautiful and moving. Hmmmm....maybe if my husband and I ever get the chance to renew our vows, we'll use it then! Anyway, let me reiterate, it's an incredible song!!! Best of luck on your wonderful days!!

Excellently written article, if only all bloggers offered the same content as you, the internet would be a much better place. Please keep it up! Cheers.

This is the definition of a timeless wedding song. I have been singing this song at weddings for over 20 years, and my mother sang it at weddings when I was a child... The lyrics are beautiful!

June says...
Thank you for the idea, Reney! I think I will use this for our sand ceremony too.

Samantha says...
Check out the version by the Maranatha! Singers, its a more modern, simple acoustic version. Still the same beautiful lyrics.
