"I love doing weddings at the Museum of Latin American Art; it's brand new and beautifully maintained, and the design elements both inside and out make for a memorable and stylish event. MoLAA's banquet manager Hazel Walker is one of my favorite event professionals ever, efficient, knowledgeable, and kind; your event at Long Beach's coolest wedding space will be well run with Hazel at the helm. "
"The Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) is an outstanding Southern California location to have a ceremony and reception. Prior to your reception your guests are invited to wander through the incredible exhibits in the gallery. Inspiring artwork by Latin artists are every changing and interesting. The outdoor sculpture garden is colorul and vibrant, with modern clean lines and native cactus flowers. Receptions are held in the expansive Balboa Room with features floor to ceiling posters of past exhibits. The event staff lead by Hazel Walker is always attentive, professional and knowlegeable. That combined with TGIS catering, is a sure fire hit with all my clients. I've enjoyed working there in the past and I'm looking forward to another wedding at this location in 2008. For clients who want a modern, latin flair to their wedding, I always turn to MoLAA."
"What a great remodel. A very unique place for any event."

Beautiful location- we had our wedding and reception outside in the Sculpture Garden. Balboa Room (inside) is also available but for our May, almost-June wedding we wanted to be outside. The colors of the walls are gorgeous (hot pink, royal blue) and make for really amazing pictures.

We booked about a year in advance with no problems. Contacts at the museum were relatively helpful. Somewhere in that year we realized we had a new contact person at the museum. It didn't change much for us...we were already booked with our deposit and no one was contacting us anyway. And that's pretty much how it stayed. Whenever we needed something, either the banquet assistant or the coordinator emailed us back after a week or so. We're pretty low stress for the most part so this was mostly irritating...but if this isn't you, be warned. Due to scheduling issues, we had our rehearsal the day before our wedding...and since there was another wedding that afternoon, everything was VERY rushed.

Nevertheless a good time was had and everyone was happy!

Really the overall feeling about having our wedding and reception here was that we were absolutely pleased. Compared to other venues with outrageous pricing and not nearly as lovely accomodations, we realized that our choice was the perfect one for us.

Pluses: We had a 175 person wedding with the option to accomodate more
Really fun colorful outdoor lighting
Beautiful photo opportunities
Tons of safe and secure parking
Guests could browse the museum during our cocktail hour
Tons of sculptures to look at outside
Cons: Museum contracts with one caterer, TGIS (they were AWESOME) but this is a problem for some people
Intermittent contact with people at museums (once we had an appt with the asst and he didnt show!)
No flower petals or rice throwing (we had sparklers instead!)

The Museum of Latin American Art was an AMAZING venue to hold our reception at! It is very unique and they have many options for ceremony and/or reception, including indoor and/or outdoor options.

Hazel is their events coordinator, and she did a great job of making sure that we were happy and that everything we wanted was "just right". She had many great suggestions and is very helpful.

Although it is a bit expensive to rent out this location, it was comparable to many places we reserached & in the end was worth it because of the layout & the reactions from our guests.

Another plus is that you are able to provide your own alcohol, which saved us some money.

The museum was worth every penny! It was a place that made our day so special. They provided everything, caterer, rentals, etc. On our wedding day it rained but the museum responded so fast it didn't even matter! They really took care of everything.

The venue was beautiful and unique and we received many compliments from our guests. The ceremony was held in the gallery against the backdrop of a massive picture of four roses. The cocktail hour was held in an outdoor sculpture garden. And the reception hall was beautifully decorated and provided plenty of space.

Our only caution would be that the staff at Molaa, while they did an excellent job on the day of the wedding, were very difficult to contact in the time leading up to event. It was a challenge to get phone calls returned and emails responded to.

Compared to other venues, however, Molaa was reasonably priced and, at the end of the day, the event was a huge success, due in no small part to the choice of venue.

The MOLAA turned out to be a tremendously beautiful site for our wedding. We did an outdoor ceremony in the Sculpture Garden at sunset and then moved inside the galleries for continued photos and then into the Balboa Room for our reception.

We were extremely lucky in that we wanted to do a wedding on a Sunday and it worked out great for us. Hazel was a tremendous help onsite.
