About this venue
ALTAR is the oldest standing building located in Downtown Long Beach. Built in 1903, this historic property allows you to customize your event and make it your own. Many vintage details of the remodeled temple have been preserved, including the arched, painted ceilings, ornate light fixtures and sturdy columns. The original wood floors, exposed brick and visible piping give the space an unfinished, industrial loft aesthetic.

Outstanding in every way
My wife and I used Altar as our reception location. Nothing but compliments all the way around. If you are looking for a space that speaks for itself and offers your guests and elegant space to take in any occasion it is Altar. We needed a few hands to help set things up, but outside of that we brough minimal decor and let the venue shine! The price is more than fair for everything Altar has to offer. Tip to the bride and groom: Take the elevator up to the third floor and come down the stairs for your main entrance.

The most PERFECT day
There are truly no words to describe my gratitude and awe toward the Altar, Callie, and her entire team. From the ambiance, to the service, and the staff themselves, there is truly nothing I would change about choosing the Altar. The flow was seamless, everyone was extremely accommodating, and truly went above and beyond.

Perfect Day!
We got married at Altar on 10/12/24 and had THE BEST experience. We fell in love with Altar from first viewing the beautiful space in March 2023, and Calli (Event Manager) took incredible care of us. The space is stunning (brick, loft, chandeliers, wood beams) and spacious (we had about 155 guests). We had our ceremony and dinner + reception in the main area on the 2nd floor, which is huge and also features a spacious bar + lounge. Cocktail hour was on the 3rd floor, which gave time and privacy to flip the 2nd floor for dinner. And our after party was downstairs in the first floor brewery. The staff was professional and everything ran smoothly on the day. The planning process was also great and I found that Calli would usually respond to my emails at least within 48 hours, which I appreciated given how busy she must be. The venue does not have in-house catering but does have preferred caterers. We ended up not using any of their options so we had to pay an extra fee, but Calli and the Altar staff went out of their way to work well with our chosen caterer. Altar also provided the full bar service and bar staff. We were able to have beer on tap which was awesome. Overall the experience was incredible and we walked away from our wedding day with incredibly fond memories of our venue. Thank you Calli + Altar
