Lanette re-created the geeky cake I had found online, complete with code to a T. The cake and grooom's cake were executed beautifully and the groom was really surprised by his quesadilla cake. The tasted great too!

Buyer beware, Cake Contessa Lanette Romero talked a pretty story yet did not deliver. We had a tasting and the mini cupcakes she provided were good and her photo album appeared she had enough experience to execute the detailed scroll work required and a carved groom’s cake. But so many things went wrong - disappointed doesn't describe it-embarrassed is more like it.
In hind-site, I should have just taken the $200 hit on the non-refundable deposit and hired a professional baker with customer service skills and a desire to make the client her priority. Being paid is her priority, not pleasing the customer. She is rude, inflexible, and slow to respond and does her business via email or text. There is no personal touch what so ever.
Although the wedding cake decoration itself was right the groom's carved specialty cake looked like an amateur did it. The wedding cake was hard, dry, missing filling and the wrong type of filling. Even the venue staffer cutting the cake chimed in and validated it was very hard for her to cut through.
She never once tried to genuinely apologize or offer any compensation for a poor job-other than $100 toward purchase of my next cake. Seriously…I’d never ever spend another cent with her. Bottom line- don’t use Lanette Romero the Cake Contessa, unless you don’t care about what you are going to serve your guests.

The Cake Contessa is absolutely brilliant!! She not only catered my wedding but baked the cake as well. The set-up was gorgeous! The food was delicious! The staff were attentive and professional. Lanette herself took excellent care of me (as the bride). She did everything from refilling my glass to placing hor D Oeuvres on the sweetheart table for the groom and me to snack on as we made our rounds. Lanette takes great pride in her business and her culinary skills and it truly shows. EVERYONE raved about the food! EVERYONE! I even had a guest with special dietary needs and Lanette made her her own meal and cupcakes. She even made me a to-go meal for after the reception when I could sit down and really enjoy her cooking. She made the evening what it was and I would recommend the Cake Contessa to anyone looking to cater an AMAZING meal at a fair price by the best staff in the valley.

Lanette is fabulous! She let me design my own cake, and made it look as close to what I described as possible. She worked with us on the type of flowers we wanted, I'm a no rose person. She did everything we could have ever asked for, and it taste delicious!

Our cake was so beautiful! It was exactly how i wanted it and described it to her. Her flavors are amazing and the cake so moist! We got tons of compliments from people! We got a cake for 100 and we had 70 guests... Nothing was left over! She is very attentive and helped me alot! Also she already had the top of the cake put in a box for us. I can't wait for our 1 year!

All I really cared about was for my cake to be chocolate and for it to taste good. I had a picture in my head of what I would like for it to look like but never really saw it in a magazine. Lanette was so awesome and understanding. At the tasting all her samples were to die for, so she had the chocolate, taste good part down packed! The look was a little tricky. After a couple meets of showing her a few pictures, and explaining what I wanted we pretty much left it at that. The day of, I was so amazed at my cake! It was so beatiful and so yummy! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect cake! :D

There is really not enough good things I can say about Lanette! She is amazing and so helpful and really went above and beyond to make our day great! The main wedding cake was absolutely beautiful & exactly what I pictured in my head and it tasted great too! The groom's cake was a PS3 and everyone thought it was hilarious with our ball and chain cake topper on top of it! Lanette was even kind enough to bring our flowers with her because she was dropping off cakes to our florist that morning anyway! That made things sooo much easier for us as our florist is by us in Goodyear and the wedding was in Florence! Lanette's cakes are beautiful and taste amazing! She is sooooo wonderful to work with!

My cake was absolutely beautiful I didn't even want to cut it! Every guest complimented the look and taste of the cake.

mmmmmm! mmmmm! mmmm! All I can say is the cake was oh so good and looked beautiful! Everyone loved it and I can tell you that since the tasting I craved it and I am sure for our anniversary we will be enjoying some more!

My cake was black and white damask, I was so excited! My wedding dress was black and I wanted my cake to match. It did!! Could not have asked for a better cake stunning! Like me;)

Cake Contessa made our 50th wedding anniversary cake it was stunning, We will continue to reccomend her!

Cake tasted good; however, she changed the design of our cake without consulting us and it looked awful. I was embrassed. We ordered a three tiered square cake with quilting on the top and bottom tiers with silver candy beads at the cross points of the quilting. The middle tier was supposed to have a thick strip of silver candy beads and then the rest of beads cascading upward randomly. It was supposed to be covered with a shimmery affect as well. Instead I got three tiers that looked like someone threw candy beads around the whole cake. It looked like a three year old decorated it. There was no quilting and shimmer. No design; just beads of all different sizes throw everywhere on each tier. When we booked her, she had three weddings the same weekend as ours. When our wedding arrived, we found out she had nine weddings that weekend so apparently she did not have enough time to decorate our cake the way we ordered. Like I said, the cake tasted good but the decorations were awful!
When we emailed her regarding the matter, she did not apologize and told me I had changed the design when I had not. They only time we ever changed anything was when we made a flavor switch. Therefore, due to my experience, I would not recommend her to anyone! Lanette is very difficult to deal with if there is a problem. After several emails, she never took ownership of her actions/faults, she tried to blame and attack me, repremanded me for having my mother email her (my mom emailed her initially because she is the one who PAID for the cake) and further repremanded me for giving her a bad review. No professionalism or customer service. We basically had to "ask" her for an apology. I cannot get over how poorly the situation was handled.

Cake Contessa made cupcake bouquets they were amazing and everyone gave them so many compliments (and our cake was so delicious too!) You did an amazing job! Thank you again for all your hard work! We (and the venue) will definitely be referring people to you for future events! - Tiffany + Pete

Our cake was so amazing, the cake was huge 6 tiers plus more around the base, from the moment we met Lanette to the moument we saw our cake we new cake contessa was the bakery for us. Thank you so much for making our day that more special.
