Over the years, many of the brides whom we work with have purchased their shoes and accessories from Shoes to Dye For. Time and again I hear stories of how easy it was for the whole bridal party - no matter where they live in the country - to coordinate with the staff and get the purchase done correctly and on time. As a hair designer I work intimately with the items purchased from Shoes to Dye For to adorn a bride's hair style and it has been my experience that each and every piece is well crafted and durable while appearing delicate and feminine. Each bride with whom my company works with is wholeheartedly referred to Ron Davis and the Shoes to Dye For staff for all of their wedding day accessory needs.
Frequently Asked Questions for Dress & Attire
Who do you provide services for?
Bride, Bridesmaids, Flower Girls, Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom, Ring Bearers
When you choose your bridal shoe, more often than not, the color will not match exactly. Unless you have a white satin gown, white satin shoes will not match. Most dresses are diamond white and not pure white. If this is the case, you’ve come to the right place!
Before you make any decisions we suggest you try the shoes on with your dress. This way you see the difference in color. Plus, you always want your shoes for your fitting. While most bridal boutiques distribute swatches, they are usually not the exact color you will need because they are not from your dress.
When you have a piece from your actual dress, bring your shoes in. Our facility will custom dye to match your gown. We mix colors to get your specific color. Dyeing takes about a week to ten days and only cost $12.00!
Q. What happens if I get my shoes dirty, Can I clean them?
A. Nooo! Do not try to clean them, you will ruin them. We use a water-soluble dye that will run if exposed to moisture. You can always dye over them with a darker color or spray them with a water repellant spray.
Q. What if I need my shoes sooner than a week?
A. Don’t worry; we can dye your shoes in less than a week. It’s a rush job and it cost $25.00 instead of $12.00
Q. Can you dye shoes not bought through your company? Most places won’t.
A. Yes, we dye shoes purchased elsewhere, it does cost $25.00
Q. What are the chances I’m ever going to wear them again?
A. A lot of our customers dye the shoes black and wear them again. This way you get more than one use and they love wearing the shoes they walked down the aisle in.
Q. What if I don’t have a swatch but I know the color doesn’t match?
A. We do all of our dyeing on premises, so you can leave the dress. The actual garment makes the dyeing process a lot easier. Although we try not to use it, we do have a dye book full of different color swatches to choose from.
Q. When you dye shoes, why do you have to dye to either indoor or outdoor lighting?
A. Due to the presence of ultra violet light in the natural light spectrum, the color will change. For example, a shoe dyed a peach color for indoor lighting will look pink outdoors. Dyeing shoes ivory for outdoor lighting look dark and yellowy indoors.
We hope our tips will help your planning go as smoothly as possible!
Tips and Advice
Tips on Choosing the Right Shoe for You
You may not realize it, but your shoes play a huge role on your wedding day. Choosing the shoe that will take a beating and still allow you to love your feet at the end of the night is easier than you thought!
Comfort, Comfort Comfort!
When choosing your bridal shoe, comfort should be your main concentration. You want a shoe you can last all day in. The most comfortable shoes will be similar to your everyday footwear. If you’re used to low heel pump with a short thick heel, your wedding shoes should be similar in style. If you can handle the high skinny heels, more power to you!
Heel Heights
When choosing a heel height, stick with a practical height. We know alterations may cost a fortune, but your feet will suffer in the end. The thicker the heel, the more support. All of our manufacturers realize no one wants a clunky heel, so they designed high heels and platforms with a flattering thick heel.
Fabric The bottom of your gown will determine the fabric you’ll want for your shoes. Most dresses are not white satin, but satin shoes work with most dresses. Satin is the most common fabric for bridal shoes. If your gown does not have any shine to it, you’ll want to choose a crepe or luxe shoe. Crepe and luxe are the same material, fully dyeable, but not shiny. Silk shoes work with silk dresses or diamond white dresses. Silk has natural warmth, which blends well with most bridal gowns.
Details and Embellishments
If your dress has rhinestones and beads, you’ll want your shoes to complement your dress. A lot of the wedding shoes have clear beads that pick up the color of your dress. The clear beads blend with most embellishments and look great when dyed. If you have a really busy dress, you may want to stay away from detailed shoes. Too much detailing may end up catching your dress. We realize you are anxious to walk down the aisle, but we don’t want any tripping!
Caring For Your Veil
When you receive your veil, immediately take it out and hang it up. When veils come into a store or are shipped directly to you, they are folded. If you have a veil shipped to you, when you take it out, it’s going to appear wrinkled and not what you expected. Don’t worry! That’s how they are supposed to look fresh out of the box. You should hang it from the center or the middle of the comb. Over time the wrinkles will disappear. If you don’t want to wait, you can always steam it. You can send it to the dry cleaners. If you dry clean your veil, make sure they have done bridal veils before. I would suggest speaking with the person actually handling your veil. You could do it yourself by hanging your veil in the bathroom, again from the center and run the hot water. The steam will de-wrinkle it pretty quickly.
