Frequently Asked Questions for DJ
Describe your DJ style:
It is our feeling that an experienced and versatile DJ should not have a particular style. But must be capable of adapting to different situations and ultimately tailor your reception exactly how you envision every moment.
What is your usual attire?
We are a reflection of you. Therefore, maintaining a professional appearance is very important. Our DJs typically dress conservatively, but sharp. You will see them in a well tailored business casual black suit with an appropriate tie, nothing too loud or overstated. If formal wear is requested, we are more than happy to accomodate you.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
It is ultimately our responsibility to provide all of your music selections. There are an almost infinite number of ways to retreive music through the internet. In the rare case that we cannot locate a particular song due to it's obscurity, we may ask you to provide it for us. It is however our responsiblity to let you know well in advance so we do not create a last-minute stressful situtation for you.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We have 12 DJs on our team. However, we do work with several "Independent DJs" who are absolutely phenominal. We would not hesitate to recommend them as well.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Not only are you able to meet with your prospective DJ, we encourage it. There is a certain chemistry that should exist between a bride and her wedding team especially her DJ. The initial interview is where we hope you will connect well with your candidate, and from there it is our job to provide you with information to make a sound, educated decision.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Typically, we find that DJs who have personally invested in their own equipment have a greater motivation to maintain it's quality. Sharing equipment amongst multiple DJs makes quality control often very difficult. Therefore, yes our team does individually own their equipment.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Washington Lighting, a division of Washington Talent is comprised of professional lighting experts. We offer an array of packages including uplighting, stage and decor lighting which will add to the excitement and ambiance of your reception.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
A crucial element to our job is to guide your guests through the evening by making brief announcements in a professional manner. We stress talking between songs is not necessary, unless requested by the client.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Absolutely! This is one of the benefits of working with a large company like Washington Talent. Our size and scope are vast. Even beyond our core team, we have access to a large pool of competent DJs we may call upon in case of an emergency.
