Describe your DJ style:
We spin a wide variety of danceable music (including dance music, rock, pop, and rap and country if you want) and carry thousands of your favorite songs. We get the music flowing to keep the dancing going. Give us a set list, let us choose, have your guests request, or mix and match.
What is your usual attire?
Formalwear. If the couple wants something else, we're glad to oblige. We've worn everything from tropical to jeans to suits to tuxedoes. It's your day: What would you like to have us wear?
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
No, though they are welcome to provide songs for us to play. It's our job to track down songs and we do.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We work as a two person team: Jon on sound, Brian on lights.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
We don't have a minimum or maximum. Every reception is unique.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
We always meet the bride (and often the bride's mom, groom, maid of honor, best man, wedding planner, venue representative, etc.). For venues we haven't worked or at the couple's request, we also do a walkthrough at the venue.
Do you bring your own equipment?
We bring top quality gear with backups in case of equipment failure.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Our light show includes a disco ball, colored area lights, scanners, moving head spots, and a fog machine (if you want and if the venue allows). We don't like strobes or rotating cop lights, so we don't have them. We also don't like slick floors, so we don't bring a bubble machine.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
Ninety minutes of setup gives us enough time to set up and test our gear. Forty-five minutes of teardown time lets us put it all back in the truck.
We can provide a table, but have found that it's usually better for the venue to provide the table, so that it matches the other tables in the room.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
This varies depending on what the couple wants. We're happy to (and usually do) emcee the reception. Occasionally, the best man or wedding planner will emcee, which is fine with us.
We don't talk between songs, tell jokes, relate stories, advertise our services, or otherwise annoy your guests. Promise.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
No. However, a five hour reception is a seven hour day for us, plus driving time. We don't need to take a break, but a meal is greatly appreciated.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
In twenty years of playing music at weddings (and lots of other kinds of events) this has never happened. Ever. In the extremely unlikely event that this ever would happen, we do have relationships with other DJs and could call in a sub.
What is your overtime rate?
We don't have an overtime rate. We don't think the end of the reception is the time you need to worry about paying us more money.
Usually, the venue sets the ending time. If they don't need us to leave and everyone is having fun, we'll stay.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
All expenses are figured into our price quote.
By the way, our truck uses biodiesel. It smells like a bus eating french fries, but it's better for the planet.
