If You’re Debating Between a DJ and a Live Band—Choose the Band. And If You’re Trying to Decide Which Band—Choose Chateau!
If you are considering Chateau Band for your wedding, I can probably give you the best endorsement possible:
Our daughter and her fiancé originally wanted a DJ. We convinced them to have Chateau instead. By the end of their wedding, they completely understood why—and were SO glad we had.
Chateau performed at our daughter Grace and her husband Reid’s wedding at the Detroit Athletic Club on August 8, and I truly cannot imagine the reception without them. They didn't simply provide the music. They created the energy of the entire evening.
We had already seen Chateau perform at the weddings of two daughters of close friends, so we knew how good they were. What we didn't fully appreciate until planning our own daughter's wedding was just how professional and involved Sid and Jennifer would be behind the scenes.
From the beginning, they worked closely with us, Grace and Reid, our wedding planner, and the Detroit Athletic Club team. They helped with song selections, ceremony music, timing, introductions and the overall flow of the evening. Our planner, venue team, photographer and videographer had all worked with Chateau before, and everyone told us the same thing: Sid and Jennifer know exactly what they are doing.
They absolutely do.
Chateau's involvement even extended to the ceremony. For Grace’s processional to “What a Wonderful World,” they provided a beautiful professional recording through their high-end sound system, accompanied live by their saxophonist and our pianist. The result was incredibly full, beautiful and absolutely stunning as Grace walked down the aisle. They coordinated every cue perfectly with our officiant, planner and the DAC, and did the same for the recessional, with their saxophonist joining “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” It was joyful, celebratory and perfect.
Then came the reception—and this is where Chateau was simply phenomenal.
They nailed the grand entrance. Every name was pronounced correctly, every cue happened at exactly the right moment, and Jennifer knew how to build the excitement before announcing Grace and Reid. By the time the bride and groom entered, the room was electric.
Chateau performed a wonderful live set during dinner, and immediately after Grace and Reid's first dance, the dance floor opened.
It stayed packed the entire night.
That, more than anything, was extremely important to all of us.
Jennifer is not only a fabulous singer; she is an exceptional MC. She has an infectious energy and an instinct for reading a room. She knew when to build excitement, when to let the music take over and how to keep the evening moving naturally.
And if you are considering Chateau, get the horns…All three of them!
The saxophone, trombone and trumpet took the reception to another level. Several times during the night, the horn players came off the stage and right into the middle of the dance floor, playing among our guests. The reaction was incredible. Suddenly it wasn't simply people dancing to a band—it felt like everyone was part of the performance.
Chateau moved seamlessly from classic Motown to all the modern favorites, and three weeks later, when our friends and Grace and Reid’s friends talk about the wedding, most aren't remembering one or two specific songs… They remember the EXPERIENCE.
They remember the packed dance floor…the horns and singers right in the middle of it with everyone…and, most of all, the incredible energy Chateau brought to the room. Three weeks later, my husband and I and Grace & Reid are still hearing from guests about how phenomenal the band was and how much fun they had.
And by the end of the night, Grace and Reid completely understood why we had encouraged them to choose a live band instead of a DJ. They saw firsthand the kind of energy and excitement that live musicians brought to their reception—and they were thrilled we had chosen Chateau.
There is something about watching tremendously talented musicians perform live that simply cannot be duplicated. Chateau fed off the energy of our guests, and our guests fed off theirs. Jennifer, the singers and musicians weren't separated from the party—they became part of it. At different points during the evening, it honestly felt more like an incredible private concert than a wedding reception.
And because Chateau handled the entertainment side of the wedding so professionally, we never had to worry about what was supposed to happen next. They communicated with our planner and the DAC team, understood the timeline, hit their cues and kept everything moving.
That combination is what makes Chateau special:
Extraordinary musicians.
A phenomenal MC.
A packed dance floor.
Incredible energy.
And true professionals behind the scenes.
If you are comparing wedding bands—or debating whether a live band is worth it—I would hire Chateau without hesitation.
They weren't simply one of our vendors. They were one of the reasons the reception was so memorable.
My only regret?
I don't have a second daughter to marry off so we could hire Chateau and do it all over again!
Ten stars. Without question.
