Additional Questions and Answers
What makes our films different? We produce films that recreate the experience of the day from multiple perspectives. It is our objective to show the feelings and thoughts of the main characters in the day, and to use the events of the day as a backdrop for those characters and experiences. We focus in on tiiny details - and use subtle techniques to highlight moods and textures, but never to dominate the people or events of the day. We almost always attend the wedding rehearsal to introduce ourselves to the wedding party, and to know the precise choreography of the processional, and ceremony. This allows us to plan our camera angles and placement, so that we can be almost invisible on tripod during the wedding ceremony itself. We want to stay out of the way of your guests and photographers while capturing great angles and intimate moments - from the bride and her father before walking down the aisle, to the mother of the groom as her son exchanges rings with his new wife. We are in many places at one, but guests rarely see us. We also dress in cocktail attire to better blend in. We chat with your guests in a casual way (and only with permission) and there is never a light, a camera, or a microphone near anyone’s face. Our use of off-camera lights makes our images particularly beautiful and dramatic. Our use of live sound is as important to us as our visual images. While we assume that you have hired wonderful, talented photographers to capture great images of your wedding day, we take on the full responsiblity of capturing the voices, dialogue and stories that bring another level of intimacy and "presence" to oue films. Most often viewers of our films tell us they feel as if they know the people in the film, and we hope that future generations will have the same experience. Imagine reliving the first few words exchanged between the newly married couple as they recess down the aisle after being pronounced married! Or the faces and words of congratualtion shared by couple, friends and family on a recieving line. These are the moments, spontaneous, intimate and word-filled that characterize our wedding films.
Tips and Advice
Make sure your photographer and cinematographer coordinate before the wedding. It is important that they know how the other works, and can plan where to be for important moments like your processional, recessional, ring exchange and vows. See if your cinematographer is willing to attend your wedding rehearsal. We have found that attending the rehearsal helps the wedding party get to know the people behind the camera - and helps us get to know the wedding party. That makes for much more relaxed and fun filming on the wedding day. Ask if your film maker will cover an hour or two of the rehearsal dinner. Often the most fun toasts and tributes occur at the rehearsal dinner, and having those recorded to film will make for sweet and sometimes hilarious memories. Find out if your cinematographer can cover your fiance's getting ready. Since you won't be there, finding out what went on with "the boys" can often be a charming intro to your film. Check that your makeup works as well for cinematography as still images. Natural makeup and a minimum of blusher and gloss look best. If you have a novel or creative idea for filming, share it with your cinematographer! |
