skywalk observatory

Skywalk Observatory

If you’re hoping to propose surrounded by some of the best views of the city, bring your partner 50 stories up to the Skywalk Observatory at the top of the Prudential Center. Sure, it’s a tourist mecca and can get a little crowded during the day, but it’s oh-so-so romantic to see the city lights at sunset or at night (it’s open until 10 p.m. from March through November and 8 p.m. from November through February). If you’re looking for more of a fine dining experience while enjoying the views, check out the Top of the Hub restaurant, located on the 52nd floor of the Prudential Building.

Museum of Fine Arts

There are few activities more romantic than strolling through an art museum and admiring gorgeous works with your sweetie. If you’re wondering where to propose in Boston, the Museum of Fine Arts is an ideal (though popular) location. Whether you lead your love to your favorite painting and pop the question there, or get down on bended knee on the breathtaking front steps with the museum’s incredible architecture as your backdrop, consider the Museum of Fine Arts a goldmine when it comes to incredible proposal spots in the city.

ice skating at frog pond boston common

The Boston Common Frog Pond

Planning on popping the question during the wintertime? The famed Boston Common Frog Pond offers ice skating during the colder months, and it’s a perfect place to snuggle with your partner. In fact, the pond offers an “engagement package” for $150 which includes VIP admission to the couple and a photographer, skate rentals, exclusive ice time and the playing of a special song, if desired. So sweet!

fenway park at night

Fenway Park

For Sox fans, there may be no better place to propose in Boston than Fenway Park. Turns out that the stadium only allows one proposal via Jumbotron per game, and such a public proposal might not be your style anyway. You might want to consider popping the question during a tour at Fenway, or before or after a game. Getting down on bended knee might be a little tricky during a game (particularly if your partner is intensely focused on the goings-on), so waiting for a natural break in the action—the seventh-inning stretch for example—might be best.

Public Garden

The Public Garden is an oasis in the city, full of blooming flora and gorgeous greenery. If you think your partner will love being surrounded by nature during his or her engagement, this is one of the best places to propose in Boston. Take a romantic ride in a swan boat or pop the question on the famous footbridge. The Public Garden is also an ideal spot if you’re looking to take some pretty spectacular post-proposal photos.

Petit Robert Bistro

Restaurants are often a popular place to propose, and we particularly love this South End French bistro. this South End restaurant is like taking a trip to Paris sans passport. Enjoy classic French cuisine such as boeuf bourguignon and chocolate soufflé, all the while relaxing in the cozy atmosphere.

The trellis at Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park

For a truly Boston experience, pop the question outdoors at this park, located between Faneuil Hall and Boston Harbor. This park has it all—gorgeous water views, ample green space, and a unique trellis that has been nicknamed the “Tunnel of Love.” This tunnel, which is lit with blue lights at night, is a totally romantic place to propose in Boston. It’s a particularly apt location around Valentine’s Day when it’s specially decorated in love-themed style for the holiday.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

This museum is home to famous works on art from around the world as well as stunning gardens ideal for popping the question. If you’re wondering where to propose in Boston, we particularly love the serene, impeccably-manicured courtyard at the Gardner Museum. It’s truly one of the prettiest spots in the whole city.

boston public library

Boston Public Library

There’s something inherently romantic about being surrounded by books (maybe it’s that Beauty and the Beast fantasy), and this is one of the most incredible libraries in the world. There are so many places to pop the question in and around the library, from the steps out front (hello, amazing photo ops!), in the lovely courtyard, among the rows and rows of books, or seated at one of the long tables in Bates Hall. The only struggle you may have is keeping your post-proposal excitement quiet—remember, this is a library!

boston museum of science

Museum of Science

If you’ve always dreamed of getting engaged under the stars, this may be among the best places to propose in Boston. There are several options when it comes to popping the question at this famed museum. You might choose to present the ring during a show at the Charles Hayden Planetarium, or perhaps while stargazing during one of the museum’s after-hours astronomy events. And after your partner says “yes!” (we hope), visit the lightning show in the museum’s Electricity Room to see sparks fly—literally!
