Mine was CHEAP rom LightintheBox It was light during the HOT day, and I did like how it looked, but the structure of it was not solid...it was falling down after two hours (I changed into a white sundress after our photographer left). I wish I had spent more....I just couldn't handle dress shopping.
$540 (plus likely another $500 or so on alterations). I bought a sample gown, and negotiated the shop owner down from her asking price by offering to pay cash.
I think finding something under $1,200 is totally doable. You could call the bridal shops in your area and see when they are having sample sales (assuming you're not opposed to buying a sample gown). If you want something custom, I think there are definitely designers that have dresses under $1,200. Also, I think DB has numerous dresses in your price range.
$750 on the dress at David's Bridal - they were the only place I could find with tea length dresses. It doesn't need any alterations (I'm incredibly lucky), but between my slip, birdcage, and shoes, I spent another $300. So, total with tax about $1100.
I really wanted to spend around $1,000 but I ended up finding my dream dress in a magazine and had to try it on. I ended up spending around &1,900.
Hello fellow budget bride! I spent $300 at a local vintage shop. Tea length dress, silk and lace. I was lucky enough not to need alterations and I'm not wearing a veil, so costs were kept low. The undergarments cost $20 at TJ Maxx lol, just a matching nude Calvin Klein bra and panty set.
If you find a dress you really love but cannot afford, you can often have it recreated for a fraction of the cost. My custom dress is tea length satin with a lace back - $650, and there's a good chance it won't need any alterations as it was custom made to my measurements. It's a greatly modified version of a $4500 dress that looked great on me, but was in floor length with all over lace. I found a designer on Etsy who is from my home town, Pittsburgh. It's in production now, and I may die of anticipation before it gets here!
I spent 2400 for my Demetrios dress (it retailed at 3k but I found it on sale). I had a budget of 2500, so I'll be slightly over with alterations, but not terribly. I tried on a Mori Lee for 800 though, so if that's a designer you like, it's definitely possible to find one within your budget!

$1100 for my Mori Lee. You should be able to get something fron Mori Lee working your budget, but alterations might put it over that.
$199 for a San Patrick at a liquidation sale. It was the first dress I tried on, and none of the others came close. $60 in alterations, as they were done by a friend of a friend.
