Mine was an Allure that retails for $1400, and I got it 10% off at a trunk show. It's good you are a fan of Mori Lee - there are many dresses around $1000 by that designer.
Mine is a Lazaro. It's the most expensive one he makes. I've posted the price before but people were so rude to me about it so I'm not doing it again.
Go to trunk shows if you can or ask to buy off the rack. They will give you pretty good discounts for either of those. Also ask if you pay it completely right now will you get a discount.
$550, sample sale, reduced from $1100. At the sample sale it was $650 and they gave me an extra discount to convince me to take it (I was still unsure). Alterations were $350, bah.
$3k...the budget was loosely set around $2k, but it was just one of those things...you know how it goes. I put it on and it was just IT. I did have a serious talk with my mom, who was paying, before I committed and said I understood if she wanted me to keep looking...she was like NO WAY. She loved it so much too. Now, don't even get me started on alterations...I thought I was prepared for the price after reading here and doing some research...even assuming it would be more due to the reviews on the shop I was going to use. Ha. DOUBLE what we thought we were prepared for.

Mine is a Casablanca, and it was just under $1200. Alterations will be $100 because it only needs a bustle. Casablanca can do custom sizing, where they make the dress specifically to your measurements. That's what my dress is, and that's why it needs so little in alterations. I think there is a charge for the custom sizing but I'm not sure how much because my bridal shop didn't pass along that cost to me. But that may be something you want to look into.
Hey Rebecca I bought mine on sale at DB for $499 too, yay! Originally a $1160 dress.
How come I am like literally the only bride ever who has no idea the designer's name of my dress? Even though it is definitely a designer dress and the DB lady told me the name? And also I have no idea what any of these wedding dress designer names are, or what their styles look like?
I paid around $1600 for a Christina Wu dress (Anyone else buy from that designer?). It was above what I wanted to spend by a couple hundred, but had everything I wanted. We bought it off the rack since it fit perfectly except for the shoulder straps need to be tighter. I was okay with spending that amount mainly because the bridal store was throwing in the hotel accommodations for a week in Hawaii.
I paid $1000 for a Maggie that retails at $1600, but I got it off the rack and during a sale. It's my size, so aside from hem and push-up cups, I don't need it altered.

$1616 before alterations. It was a lot more than I anticipated spending, but I love my dress.
Sometimes the accessories in the dress salon are ridiculously overpriced. See if you have a wedding accessory store near you for the veil/belt/headpiece/jewelry, etc.
Look for sample and trunk sales where you can get discounts. Follow salons on social media for secret sales events as well!
I got a Jasmine Couture dress, paid a little extra for them to send the skirt lace separately and NOT sew it on (they had it in a weird pattern I hated, so it was worth it even though it's messed up to have an additional charge for actually doing less work), and am now paying an arm and a leg to have it altered cause the stupid bridal store measured me big. After all is said and done, I'll still end up within my original $3500 budget, but I'm cutting it close. Thankfully, I scored a really nice veil as my "something borrowed," which happens to match perfectly.
I'd say tax is a the factor that you most need to prepare yourself for. It's basically 10% in many areas, which is huge (and infuriating).
