$1050 for Madison James and that was at a bridal salon in Los Angeles area. Pretty good eh? You will be able to find a dress, just don't forget how much alterations are and if you want a veil. The veil I tried on when I said yes to the dress was more than half and much as my dress! $600 veil! Don't get me wrong, it was gorgeous but not my price point for a veil.
Mine was $1721.00 (with a 15% discount for purchasing on my first visit) - however, that included a jacket (it buttons in the back and it's sleeves for my church ceremony), tax, and shipping NOT ALTERATIONS.. So let's see just the dress with tax cost me $1595.91 (that's including the discount I mentioned earlier).
I'm really worried about alterations.. so we will see what that'll cost.
The dress is a Stella York dress.
ETA: My veil is a family heirloom that I will be using - so that didn't cost me anything.. however, I can imagine that it would cost a good amount in a store (it was handmade by my great-aunt for my aunt's wedding - it is 3 layers and has edge detailing) - I think the lengths are: cathedral, fingertip and either elbow or shoulder length...
Too much. And, like M, pretty sure it is currently being used as a dog bed in my closet after being dragged around through downtown for 24 hours including bars. Poor dress.

$1600 or $1800 plus a couple hundred for alterations.
@m, I bought a Jim Hjelm for my first (broken) engagement (not to H) and it was an amazing gown! Vowed not to spend anywhere near that this time. H was pretty relieved when I told him the Hjelm price (from like 10 years ago) vs. my dress price. He thought I was being very frugal, LOL.
$230 - white bridesmaid dress from Alfred Angelo + $15 in chantilly lace to make sleeves, $160 alterations for hem, bust, waist, and to make/add the sleeves.
http://www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/Bridesmaids/7166 is the dress in red, but you can change the photo to see it in white. I removed the sparkly at the waist and added my own sash.
BTW, if you have a $1200 budget decide before you walk into that appointment if that's $1200 for the dress alone, or $1200 for dress and alterations together.
One bride yesterday got an $800 alterations quote from the shop, but that's exceptional. Most of the time, alterations will be over $200 for nearly any bridal gown plus tax will run 8-10 percent, so if your budget is total of $1200, you should be trying on dresses that are $700-900, which is $1000 after tax, and gives you some left over for alterations. If alterations will be over $200, and you love the dress, I'd consider to look for an independent seamstress to get a quote for doing the work outside the shop - it can be considerably less expensive and can keep you on budget.
My dress retails $4800. I paid $1100 by chance finding it as a sample that had been on a mannequin in Idaho. I had $250 in alterations.
$35 and i am not ashamed! I bought the dress to wear in my engagement pictures, and I absolutely fell in love with it! I bought a $20 sash on etsy to go with it, and called it a day. I wanted simple, and i couldnt justify spending a crap ton of money to only wear it once.
My budget was $2000, and I ended up with a Symphony Bridal gown during a trunk show (the woman that helped me mentioned the trunk show, but I had no idea the one I chose was SB until I was checking out) for $1000. With the belt and veil, I spent about $1400. I paid $160 to have custom cap sleeves with matching lace from the dress added to it and $30 for a bustle.
Total of $1590- still under budget for what I intended to pay for my dress upfront without alterations!
I love Mori Lee dresses, but couldn't find one locally under $1000. I wanted to spend around $500 and ended up buying this one at DB, which was perfect for me (bought it on sale for $499, just need to get hem and bustle done):
$1100: Maggie Sottero. Maggie dresses are really great...amazing quality and make you look like a bombshell for a great price. I would look into her designs as well!

$1200 for a Stella York. I had a coupon from a bridal fair, and the dress was originally $1400. With tax, it was back up to $1400. I still cry a little inside over the price of a dress I will wear once, but that's what I get for trying on an expensive dress I knew I loved online.
